If it would normally take you 20 minutes to trim your yard but you would really like it to take you and hour, this is the perfect trimmer. This POS is under powered and can only use the lightest trim cord, it constantly breaks the trim cord inside the reel so you will need to take it apart several times each time you trim. I only purchased it… Read more
because I needed an extra battery for my leaf blower and Stihl was running a sale for the FSA 57 and battery so I actually got the trimmer for about $25. I still overpaid for it. Do yourself a huge favor and stay away from this trimmer.
Disappointed – I was very positive about switching from gas to electric, but was disappointed. The power is good and the duration of the batter power is ok, but the cutting head is terrible. The white band around the spool causes jams and it is very difficult to work with so I removed it. Even after removing it, the head still jams. Overall very difficult to… Read more
use. I was initially optimistic about switching from gas to electric, but I ended up disappointed. What a pain! I regret making this purchase. Frankly, I am surprised that Stihl would market such a poor product.
Absolute disaster - the most frustrating piece of equipment I've ever used – I went from my trusty Stihl fuel-powered workhorse to this to do the right thing environmentally. I loved that it was so light and I could do the whole yard on 1 battery. But like everyone else, when the eyelets fell out (fairly soon) I spent hours of frustration trying to refeed the line. It breaks within seconds of using. I hate the bloody thing. I revert to the old trusty most times but this was NOT what I paid for! Show details
auto cut head is horrible – The overall tool would be fine if the string would feed. Battery life is good and power is ok for an average yard. However, the bump head is a total disaster. I have tried numerous things to get it to work and the bottom line is I spend twice as much time getting the string to feed as I do weed eating and edging my yard. Show details
Lightweight marvel – Its light weight and you can adjust the length. It is a bit under powered but when I push it hard, it can really bite in, so its surprising at times how it can cut thick stuff. I have had no problem using the head, it works just fine for me. Show details
Less than perfect – Extending length worked once then jammed , returning to agent asap for review Show details
Trimmer head is poorly designed – Winding and feeding the line without it jamming during use takes some patience, but once I got the knack it went pretty smoothly. The problem is that the holes in the trimmer head where the line feeds out have 2 small brass eyelets, with time and use the eyelets fall out. Once the eyelets are gone the trimmer head is useless, the line breaks… Read more
within moments of use and the head has to be disassembled to re feed the line. You spend more time fiddling with this than trimming the weeds. I have purchased one replacement head so far, trimmer worked fine until the eyelets fell out…this looks to be an ongoing outlay and it should be addressed by the manufacturer.
Line trimmer head totally useless – Total waste off money. Line trimmer head does not feed. Tried everything. Went back to supplier twice and were told it was my fault. Even purchased new trimmer head exactly the same. No reply from Stihl when sent an email . Show details
String cartridge is junk – Auto Cut C 3-2 cartridge is junk. String jams and does not feed properly. I spend a ridiculous amount of time pulling cartridges out to get them to feed the string. Took one to dealer and not only could he not unjam it, he has replacement packages on back order. When I first bought this weed eater over a year ago, he had a hard time getting… Read more
these cartridges. Manufacturer is blaming this on the pandemic and told me to be patient. Still waiting to see if they will replace the jammed cartridge. I’ve owned several Stihl products and really liked them. Will not purchase any of their products again.
String Head Issues – Love the trimmer. The AutoCut C32 head is junk. Hangs, breaks and won't retract line when I need it. Have to break it down every time it acts up. Spend as much time working on the head as I do trimming. Stihl needs to get on the ball. Other trimmer companies are far ahead of them on trimmer head design. It is really aggravating. Fixing to adapt a head off a gas trimmer to it. I have other Stihl outdoor products. Never a bit of trouble with them. Show details
String spool only 3-1/2” and very difficult to load – Very disappointed with product and not one who often writes reviews. I see no reason for the extremely small spool with a maximum line size .080”. Line tangles in spool and will not feed properly. Unit has plenty of power and good battery life but it is taking me three times as long to weed eat yard because of the constant tangled line in spool… Read more
and difficulty loading. I have tried three brands of line with no difference in performance. Please note that I never had difficulty loading or line bump feeding in previously owned weed eaters with 5-1/2” spools. Really feel like I have wasted my money. I wish Stihl would make a conventional size retrofit head.
Love my new machine and easy to wind the line – This machine is light weight, easy to use and works great in my small yard and very easy to reload the line from the outside of the machine. I have 2 heads one with line for the edging and one with blades for the back area. Show details
Without AK30 battery and AL300 charger I wouldn’t purchase – Like with all Kit deals on Stihl products, the skin is good but the power provide with kit battery and slow charger is no good. They should allow people to upgrade the battery and charger in kit for a small increase. I love Stihl products and have purchased two products in the last week but can’t upgrade battery’s or charger.
