461 magnum faultless tool – Great saw. I cut firewood to sell In Tasmania. The 461 magnum is a powerful saw. It will cut through the biggest trees, without bogging down. I have never had any problems. Sometimes takes a couple of pulls to start. But runs faultlessly. Not really that heavy, considering the power. It's a great saw. Puts the farm boss to shame. With a nice sharpened chain, it slices through any wood. Throwing 2 metre saw dust rooster tails. Show details
Really good medium sized saw – Great saw had mine for about 5 years now cutting mainly south east Victoria hardwood starts and runs awesome never touched the idle screws etc never changed the spark plug all I do is fuel it up give the air filter a clean after each outing If you your regularly cutting 18-20inch hardwood I would seriously suggest getting a bigger saw but for 16-18 inch cutting it’s perfect Show details
Excellent chainsaw – I’ve had this saw for three years now. I’ve had no issues with it. Still starts like the first day I got it. Good saw for dropping trees and firewood. I mostly cut iron ark, red gum and it gets through it no worries. Show details
Reliable & Powerful – I purchased the MS-461 Magnum about 4 seasons ago and have been extremely impressed with it's performance and reliability. I generally cut around 20-30tonnes of firewood each year, usually Hillgum or Redgum and treat my saws very well with regular bar & chainwork, good oil and fuel using a 25"Bar with a 404 Full Chisel Chain Would recommend this saw for an experienced woodcutter without hesitation. Stihl MS 461 Magnum – I purchased this saw and did not use it very often. I always had trouble starting it and sometimes, even after starting, would cut out and could not be re-started. Effectively, it was an unreliable product. After a number of years, I took it to a Stihl dealer to have it checked and to see if anything was obviously wrong with it. The dealer… Read more
informed me that the engine was stuffed because I had put the wrong fuel into it. Reading other reviews, this would seem to be a common reason offered for the failure. However, I am a very careful person and don't believe that I did put the wrong fuel into the saw. The cost of repair was uneconomical and I was advised to buy another similar saw and to use it as spare parts. I would not risk wasting another $1,500 on a questionable product and disposed of it. I cannot recommend the brand.
A great bit of equipment – Have had this saw for years beside my o66. Have used it to drop big trees and cut up fire wood. Has not missed a beat and rips through some big trees. Show details
Good product spoiled by the Stihl customer experience – I bought this chainsaw based on a rebate offered at the time. My dealer registered me for warranty but after waiting for my rebate I was informed that I was too late. It is pretty poor customer service in my opinion when the manufacturers representative company in Australia won't HONOUR a legitimate claim. Show details
