Very happy – The fryer itself is great, good build quality and very easy to use after reading the other reviews about the timer I've never used it anyway as I'm not bothered with it and can't comment on its functionality,I purchased this one at Jb-Hifi it was reduced to $149 and they knocked another $20 off,I got this one over the breville as that model had an… Read more
led screen and push buttons,I didn't like the idea of that as more electronics means more to go wrong, the sunbeam uses a dial thermostat so win win. No fussy electronics, good size and good price. The timer isn't the best but I've never used anyway,They should make the filter in the lid replaceable even though it's dishwasher safe I reckon after a while it could clog up,time will tell I guess
Excellent multi-purpose deep fryer – Bought this about two years ago and it's still going strong. As almost everyone else who's reviewed it has said, my timer dial is also useless! Mine actually broke about two months into owning the machine (wound it too far forwards, tried to wind it back, couldn't, tried too hard, from then onwards it spun freely and uselessly...) Saying that, the… Read more
broken timer dial has absolutely no influence over the working of any other part of the machine. It's just a (slightly bad) timer feature. I keep my fryer outdoors under cover, (because I think deep frying makes the house smell, regardless of how clean the oil is) which means I wouldn't hear the timer anyway, so it doesn't bother me.
Fryer takes 4L of oil, which can be very expensive to buy. Saying that, the price of oil isn't Sunbeam's fault so the one-star penalty on my rating is for the timer dial.
Everything else on this machine is excellent - ESPECIALLY how accessible it is to clean. It's not 'easy' to clean - it's a deep fryer and it takes four litres of oil, it's greasy and gross and cumbersome - but you can drain the oil off, lift out the element and control panel, handwash the element with soap and a dish brush under the hot tap and put the lid, inner stainless steel oil vat and even the outer frame into the dishwasher. It comes out spotless. I put the basket through the dishwasher after pretty much every use - not a spot of rust and it's still in perfect order. We love deep fried chicken wings with hot sauce as a weekend treat, and that's by far what we've used this for most - and they come out perfect every time. The temperature dial is accurate and the oil returns to temp quickly after you put cold food in the basket.
I'd definitely recommend this if you're in the market for a fryer. Good temperature control, and cleans up very well. Timer dial is pointless - breaks easily, but doesn't affect the operation of the unit. Carried on regardless!
A nice balance of features – Having had a food van and have had a roband fryer this unit is very similar. I like the cover over the element that stops food from burning. It cooks well covered and keeps the fat splatter down. Simple cleanable filter saves money on replacements. I used it for the first time last night and very happy with the product. Able to lift element and… Read more
let it drain. Quick to heat up and well made. Prefer manual dials less to go wrong. cant find a problem at this stage. Would think they could put a 2 year warranty on a good product.
Family Sized Deep Fryer – We purchased this deep fryer as it was one of the 'bigger' ones suitable for larger families. Compared to other models we looked at, it did have a much bigger capacity (takes 4L of oil), but depending on the size of your family, you'd still need to cook in batches. It is a nice looking product, but more importantly it cooks to perfection and is… Read more
very easy to clean. The food didn't stick together, nor did it stick to the basket - and the fried food it produced was just perfection! We would highly recommend this product! Everything! Great Size, Great Look, Easy to Clean, Cooks to Perfection, Very Reasonable Price!
Good – This is a great deep fryer. It cooks well and is safe and easy to use. It is pretty reasonably priced as well. This deep fryer is very easy to use. It has a timer and is very quick to heat up. It has a good basket where the food cooks, and a handle that is easy to grip so that there are not any accidents. One of the main reasons that I bought it… Read more · 1
was because it has a 'cool zone' that effectively doubles the life of the oil as it prevents debris gathering around the element and burning. None that I can think of. The food basket may be a bit small if you're cooking for a large number of people, but you can just cook in batches.
very good, not perfect – OK, so size matters, but for a domestic appliance it strikes a good balance. Does one want something for larger families or gatherings, but is too big to store? Only you can decide. For us it is just right. The cool zone feature seems to work fine, but with three different oil types, three different result. But nothing dissapointing so far. … Read more · 1
Cleanability is good, well thought out design. The mesh basket will tear up a scourer pad and leave fibres hanging of it, answer, don't use a scourer pad.
The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the timer knob. It's rubbish. If you wind too far and then go back, the knob breaks open on the boss where it goes over the spindle. The timer won't go backwards. My 26 y.o. microwave can, so why can't this! Fixed it by wrapping warm copper wire around the boss to prevent it splitting again, but why should I have to do this.
Despite that rant, we do think it is the bests excuse to cook fatty fries ever. Very, very good design and functionality, with just one stupid, stupid flaw.
Excellent – I think this works pretty much like a commercial one, and I would much rather use this and cook my own fish and chips in good quality oil rather than cheap ones used at most restaurants. I would recommend this! The stainless steel heating tub, the large capacity (4L) and the quick heaing. Also fairly easy to clean. The timer only worked once,… Read more
then quit but I honestly don't use timers so it didn't bother me, I could have replaced it under warranty. A bit hard to store so much oil if you aren't going to use it too often.
Good – We love our deep fryer and use it constantly, great for chips, fried chicken and all manner of fried things. The only thing they could do to improve it would be to make a bigger capacity one for large families Cooks well, easy to use
