Kettle King - camping – The Kettle King works mostly well, sufficient for camping. Marinade or sauces drip onto metal catching plate underneath though and just can’t clean it? Looks very unsightly.

Electric BBQ – Terrible BBQ used it 5 times then it stopped working because of faulty plug. Contacted Sunbeam several times eventually they told me to contact service centre in Dandenong as item is no longer made was only purchased last year and was well looked after. fault with this lead or i can do it myself. When i contacted Sunbeam again they said it is no longer under warranty it is up to me if i want to fix it at my cost. Wasn't out of warranty when i initially contacted them. Rubbish product and equally bad customer service, never will i buy sunbeam again.

Works Great! – Worked good for about 6mths. Then no power. Here's the fix: there's a fuse in the thermo controller. Simply replace but its crimped in. Snip out and leave leads long enough to solder in a new fuse. You can get them at Jaycar for $5. The problem is Sunbeam has sized for just 70c. hot plate. Go up in heat size & all good, works a champ. Unfortunately this small issue was probably the death of this great little BBQ. Mine still going strong after 2 years!

dinner, the barbecue lost heat. I have read other reviews where this fault has also presented.

It would appear the Thermostat Plug has simply stopped working.

Please let me know next steps to have the part or the unit replaced.

It stopped working after a few days of purchase. The plate is not heated i think the problem is with the regulator – The plate is not being heated I tried to fix it but couldn't My money is gone I will never ever recommend this product coz this waste of money If someone can answer how can i fix it

Used one for 15 years.. Current model inferior – A kettle king user for more years than I care to remember but wish I had kept my old one for the superior quality on the lid. I like to clean after every use but the lid goes rusty even when dried thoroughly. Very disappointing Show details ·  1

Perfect bbq in every way – The kettle bbq exceeded all expectations. I used the recipe book provided to cook satay chicken skewers, roast potatoes and corn for six adults and what a hit dinner was. The most important instruction to follow would be the 10 minute on high preheat. So easy to use and even easier to clean. Love this bbq. Follow the instructions for use and you can't go wrong. Nothing negative to report.

Love this little barbeque – We live in a retirement village with a small deck. The Sunbeam Kettle King Barbeque is ideal. Being electric we don't need a gas bottle so it takes up little space on the deck. The non stick plate is great and plenty big enough to cook a barbeque for four people. The plate has a griddle section as well as a flat plate and with the cover in place I can cook a roast with all the trimmings.

Just doesn't get hot enough – Very disappointed. Tried four times to cook leg of lamb. The thermostat does not seem to function correctly so temperature is not conserved, possibly because the socket is such a loose fit. Have even tried jamming it in with a peg, but still does not maintain temperature. Most recent effort was a total failure - after two hours it had not started to cook and had to resort to the oven.

Seems to cook well but badly designed – We used our new Sunbeam Kettle King HG6600B to cook roast pork. The meat was delicious but the resulting mess was terrible. The greasy splatter inside the lid runs down and drips all over the place. than outside the hotplate and on to the kettle's shelf, stand and base and the surrounding patio pavers. We had to put newspaper all around to soak up the greasy drops.

Also, we question the Kettle User Guide's advice to "season" the hotplate with cooking oil before use. The oil beaded on the non-stick surface and consequently burned on during pre-heating of the kettle. Yes, we did apply a thin coat and yes, we did rub it in with paper toweling. We are now stuck with ugly burned-on spots all over the hotplate.

All in all, not a great start really and it's hard to see the situation improving.

Dishwasher safe...?? – Just purchased the Sunbeam Kettle King BBQ HG6600B, and should say immediately that I haven't yet used it - review wouldn't submit without a star rating, so I went for the middle ground, for reason just stated. Miele dishwasher no matter how I configure things. It MIGHT just squeeze in diagonally if I were to unscrew the hotplate handles each time, AND remove the top rack in the dishwasher. Not likely.

Hmmm... I think it's a bit rich to make a big splash on the external packaging about it being dishwasher safe, when it should properly say, 'Safe bet is won't fit in your dishwasher'.

I must say that the woman I spoke with at Sunbeam, to ask if there were any special tricks to it, was very lovely and said she would definitely pass on my feedback about advertising dishwasher-safeness so prominently. Dealing with Sunbeam staff was a pleasant experience.

Oh well, still looking forward to my first roast...

Kettle King BBQ HG6600B – Cooks very well!! But the Thermo switch under the thermostat some times will not make contact. The reason is Because the thin plastic BASE bends when it gets warm. A thick rubber band helps Thermo and base to make contact . Which you should not have to do! But I see no other solution!

Same batch as previous reviewer? – We purchased one of these in late January, but have experienced the same connection issues as the previous reviewer. grill plate and socket (what else can it be?). I'll comment later on how this goes. I would also mention that the overall build quality of this unit is not as good as the earlier one that our daughter has. It's also annoying that the telephone response times are quite long when a call is made .. Sunbeam does not appear to have an email method of handling warranty claims.

Kettle King – Electric plug keeps disconnecting, unable to leave unattended. Have only used twice, second time had to remove meat and transfer to conventional oven inside. I don't believe there is an easy fix. Returning item back to place of purchase and we will see what unfolds.

excellent – Some people say it does not cook properly. Well read the instructions and all is ok. Start on the hot settings and let it warm up and not on the low settings or it will never work properly. I do not even need the hood on to cook the sausages and steaks etc.  Show reply

Kettle King – The electric plug connection keeps on coming loose and the power goes off. It needs constant attention to push it back in. Very annoying! Any suggestions as to why? Otherwise works OK but agree the stand is too light and unstable

moving it quickly from place to place not so easy.

You also need to use it on a very even surface or the drip tray may leak. It's easy enough to clean for a BBQ, but you should take care not to be too harsh on the non-stick surface. Instruction guide is not very clear on what temperature to use for what task (pretty much recommends highest "Super Sear" for everything).

Including a thermometer on the lid will come in handy for roasting. The rubber cord protecting part of the electric probe broke (came away) on the second use, likely from the heat. Doesn't affect the use but it is a design flaw, I hope the plastic doesn't warp further. Excellent non stick cooking surface, and I love that there is both a flat area and ribbed/drained area. Should come with the cover, rather than having to purchase separately.

No more LPG bottles to worry about! – I bought this BBQ after reading reviews here and thought I'd post my thoughts. and this meal is something I will repeat again very soon. Cooking on the alfresco meant no cooking smells in the house and wash up was easy as the non-stick hotplate makes the job so quick.

I can't wait to use the BBQ again and know it will be used more often than the LPG BBQ has in the past. It's much bigger than expected and I would like to see a 50/50 split on the hotplate, presume this would involve two heating probes but would be more energy efficient for those times when you want to cook a smaller meal.

Best of all was the speedy service from Retravision in Hoppers Crossing Vic who have great prices and only charge $9.95 delivery Aus wide....it would cost me nearly that to drive an hour to the closest store and I didn't have to leave home!!I have no affiliation with the seller, but extremely happy with their service and would buy from them again in a heartbeat!
