Rice burns on bottom of pan – Although it cooks the rice well, I have found that the rice burns on the bottom and forms a crust. It may just be that mine is faulty. I have had it for about 12 months and have rarely used it for this reason. i don't think I would buy another one.

Rice not so perfect – We bought the Sunbeam Rice Perfect 8 in February 2013. Like many others have found, it has stopped working. Given so many people have had this problem, it's surprising Sunbeam hasn't fix it. This is the second Sunbeam product which has expired after a very short life-span. It appears something is seriously wrong with quality control.

Easy dinner by 6pm – Love it. All that's required is to wash the rice beforehand and then it cooks by absorption method. I sit the steamer tray over the rice and my vegetables are cooked in no time. With no extra pots to wash. The rice is cooked to perfection and doesn't stick to the pan Inexpensive and easy to use. Keeps food warm once cooking process is complete.

Did not last – I bought this on special, I thought it might be a half way decent rice cooker at the lower end of the market. First of all the switch knob kept coming off, a lot of times it would flick to warm before the rice was cooked & you would have to keep flicking it back on to cook. Last week it stopped working entirely after only 6 months. I got my money… Read more

back & will now pay more for a better quality rice cooker. It was also inclined to leave crusty rice on the base.

It just did not work as it should & certainly did not last. Maybe if you eat rice once a year it would be fine, but not for regular rice eaters.

Great First Rice Cooker – Bought this model as I didn't want to spend too much on my first rice cooker. There is only two of us in the one household though, and this rice cooker isn't really suitable to only cook for two. I say this as if I only cook 1 cup of dry rice with 1 1/2 cups water, there isn't much in the bottom, so it cooks very quickly and if you don't watch it,… Read more

will leave a bit of a crust on the rice touching the bottom. This doesn't usually matter too much as we always make up leftovers to have for lunch the next day, so I rarely only cook this much.

Have made risottos in it also which have turned out perfectly.

Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. Inexpensive, cooks quickly

Cooks well but stops working properly after a while – I have bought 2 of these over the last 2 years but I won't be buying a third. The first one I bought 2 years ago, it worked well but after about a year the switch kept tripping before the rice was finished cooking. It would then be very difficult to get it going again. I thought it was just bad luck and as I liked the cooker so much I decided to… Read more

buy another one. Same thing happened - worked well but after about 10 months it also started tripping. I am now looking for a better quality rice cooker. When it worked properly it cooked the rice really well Switch keeps tripping stopping the rice from cooking.

Excellent – This is an all-round great product. it makes cooking for guests so much easier, with one less thing to think about. It also doesn't deteriorate over time. I love using my sunbeam rice perfect. It is so much easier to put rice on in this product than to put it on in a saucepan over the stove. Mine is 4 years old and is still in perfect condition.… Read more

The rice is lovely and fluffy when it is cooked. If anything, having to stir it once or twice over its cooking time can be slightly annoying. However, the rice is still ok if you forget to stir.

Used it for 5 years – For the price I have to say you get your moneys worth. I used it for 5 years and just now the coating on the bowl has started to come off. I would use it a average 2 times a week. Cooks quickly an perfectly every time. So easy to use and easy to clean. Fast, reliable and not expensive. Cannot fault it.

Can't live without it! – After having a microwave rice "bucket' for years, i decided to spend the "princely" sum of $30 LOL on a rice cooker. Wish i had got one many years ago. Perfect rice EVERY time. Love the non-stick surface. Used it also for sushi rice and brown as well as white. You might need to adda little more water than indicated. Reliable, inexpensive, cheap as chips, Keeps warm to present on table.

Terrible – Initially the unit worked reasonably well for the first 2 months - but then started to 'trip' out regularly. We exchanged the unit for a new one (under warranty) - but the second unit only lasted less than 2 months with the same problem. The thermostat 'tripped', on occassion the unit would only warm without finishing the job. We gave up and… Read more

threw it in the bin. Please note, we eat rice nearly every 2nd/3rd day (family of five) - so I would recommend a Japanese made rice cooker (such as Tiger brand). A bit more money - but it works like a dream..... About the only benefits we can consider is the unit being quite compact. The range has serious issues with the thermostat control.

Good – I really like using my rice cooker but it took a while to work out how to get the ideal results. For prospective buyers: don't ever lose the measuring cup which comes with the cooker because it's not a standard 250ml. It is easy to clean (soak in hot water first) and cooks rice well (both brown and white) You need to use it a couple of times to… Read more

work out how much water it ACTUALLY needs to produce cooked rice. For example, I use an extra cup of water for brown rice than what was suggested in the instruction manual.

Excellent – Don't know how people function without one - think it's great ! Especially like the fact I can chuck it on before the rest of the meal is ready and not worry about getting the timing exactly right as it will be kept warm for ages. Easy to operate, easy to clean. Love the warming option ! Suggested quanities didn't work for my taste, increased the water, was too crisp for my luking before that (still not glugged, just more well cooked)
