A great rice cooker! – Had a 'spitter' for years - place lid on top and watch it spit water rice-coloured water all over the kitchen bench. You know the type. Bought this one for $39 from K-Mart and haven't looked back since. Great design - The lid is secure, vent faces away from the operator, easy grip handle and push button to unlock lid. The lid locks down, resulting in no spitting or mess.

It's a 10 cup but we usually use 5 cups. (Note: The wife says that one of 'their' cups is about 3/4 of a normal metric cup).

It cooks the 5 cups of rice in about 20 minutes. The bowl is non-stick so use only plastic/silicone implements. Bowl comes out for easy washing. Slight crust at bottom of the bowl - negligible impact. The wife is very happy - "No mess, keeps rice hot and cooks it really well; with grains separated not 'gluggy'"

Terrible – Would not buy again, trying to find a Toshiba one as i hear they are good but expensive. Get what you pay for i guess! Looks good, cooks quickly and keeps rice warm and fresh for a few hours. Good value for money. No electronic timer which would be handy for steaming veges. Drain container on back of unit doesnt collect much condensate as it ends up running down back of unit and making a sticky mess on bench. Good idea but poorly designed! Condensate also runs down back of unit when opened instead of going into the drain container. Non stick coating wears away after 6 months causing rice to stick and burn on bottom of pot. I have used mine 2-3 times a week for the past 2 years and it finally kicked the bucket. The aluminium heating base melted and made a burning smell. Not too impressed!

Excellent – Would purchase this model again except I am now looking for one with a timing function. It also is great for cooking dumplings. You really can't go back to stove-top rice after using a rice cooker. It makes a huge difference! Worked well for 5 years until my friend used a metal spoon to scoop. great for steaming. The condesation catcher doesn't really work. So occasionally you will get a bit of a mess.
