My PC7900 is leaking water from the bottom whilst not on. I had it filled to the 8 cup line, now leaked about 100mls overnight. Any ideas?

Is the glass carafe dishwasher safe?

Ash

This machine has worked fine for 6 mos, then suddenly stopped working yesterday. We add our coffee grounds and water as usual, but the water won't move through the machine to make the coffee when we press the ON button. When we press ON, it makes a click and the light turn on, but no water and no coffee :(

Have exactly same problem. Did you find a solution?

Ash

It never worked again, unfortunately. Since it was under a 12mo warranty, the company gave us a full refund. We bought a different coffee maker after that!

Hi - my PC7900 seems to be leaking quite a lot of water from the base of the machine? Any suggestions for repair and is it safe to use? Peter

Sounds like it has been overfilled.

Hi - could you please tell me the size/capacity of the measuring spoon, as I have lost mine.

Peter J.
Peter J.

Hey, I discarded my scoop. Instead I weigh my coffee grinds to get the exact amount for every brew.. everytime! and I still use paper filters inside the nylon filter provided. Consider doing this in the future!

Thank you. How much do you use per cup, or per 6 or 12 cups?

Will Sunbeam replace this defective design product? Like many others commenting on the 7900 Coffee maker, our coffee is lukewarm. We do not find the advice to run water through first acceptable because we bought the coffee maker to have coffee waiting in the morning when we get out of bed. Will Sunbeam replace this machine. We think it is a lemon. It was bought as a gift for my wife. It was a waste of money. Unless Sunbeam replaces it, we will not carry their products in our appliance stores at Hardware and General stores across Sydney where I am a General Manager, or personally buy Sunbeam products. This is clearly a design flaw, and a lemon. We will not sell defective products to our customers.

What temperature should the coffee be , it is about 75c not hot enough?

Jason B.

Our machine just exploded - coffee grounds and water everywhere. The spring and plastic tip thingy has detached from the filter holder. It just doesn't want to go back in. Help, please. It's less than a week old.

Geordie M.

Take it back and get another, Jason. No point trying to fix something yourself that is under warranty. Huge waste of time and materials, yes, but fixing something that has faulty plastic parts is nearly impossible.

Just rang the store and they said the same thing. I just didn't know whether I had to go with Sunbeam directly or take it back to the store.

Just got my Sunbeam auto drip maker. Followed directions to a tee, yet as soon as I place carafe under filter water pours out. So fast it goes all over the place. Without pushing start button. No way to use program and water goes everywhere. What’s wrong?

Sunbeam
Sunbeam   DM

Hi Simpson17, It sounds like you may not of have had enough coffee in there. Also please check all packaging has been removed from the carafe & your PC7900 & let me know if this solves your issue. Thanks

Peter J.
Peter J.

Not enough coffee????? Agreed the packaging Tape to hold carafe lid in place may be blocking holes, but how is the filter chamber full of water if the machine has not been turned on?

is it normal for the base plate to get so hot when you have the coffee maker on auto to make the coffee in around 6 hours? very hot, almost burnt my fingers

Peter J.
Peter J.

Seriously? How else will it keep the brewed coffee hot? To turn off, once coffee brewing ends just turn it off by pressing the lit button twice, or just wait 2 hrs for auto shut off..

Christine
Christine

I don't think the base plate should get so hot when I have it on auto to come on 3 hours later, the carafe would shatter to pieces this is auto mode not normal mode

Sunbeam
Sunbeam   DM

Hi Christine, The base plate does get quite hot because it transfers heat to the Carafe. Under the unit it does say "keep hands away from hot parts". If the unit has been set to start hours later , It should not heat up until then. Hope this helps you. Thanks

Christine
Christine

Thank you, any idea how to stop it heating up right away if it's on auto external link ?

Sunbeam
Sunbeam   DM

Hi Christine, Are you wanting the PC7900 to turn on and brew coffee at a preset time later? Or are you wanting to brew a Coffee straight away and then have it keep warm for hours?

Christine

Later

Sunbeam
Sunbeam   DM

Hi Christine, It should not be heating up straight away, You may have it set up wrong? Is the coffee brewing and going into the Carafe? If this is the case this would mean the programming is wrong. Thanks

Christine

Thank you, no it doesn't start brewing just the hotplate gets hot. I'll try and reset it again, Thanks for your help

How hot is the coffee meant to be, it like warm?

Sunbeam
Sunbeam   DM

Hi Simon L, Please try this: Without adding coffee, press the ON/AUTO/OFF button to run hot water through to warm up the machine. Try with 12 cup brew where higher temperature can be achieved. Thanks

Peter J.
Peter J.

Perfect temperature anything less then...not too hot to burn your tongue would suggest an issue with the appliance..or the heat pad has switched off after 2hrs

Dear Sunbeam. how long after the coffee filters through, will it take for the coffee to be nice & hot ? do i need to let it stand ? seems using cold water the filtering is quite fast & the water doesnt really have time to heat, Thank you

Peter J.
Peter J.

Well, my unit heats the water to a very good drinking temperature to drip through the grinds and extract flavour whilst the heat pad warms the glass carafe and keeps the coffee hot for around 2 hours..

Anything longer will sour the flavour.

If yours is cold then hey there is a problem...

Cheers

Where the the spring of the Sunbeam coffee maker PC7900 go for anti drip?

Sunbeam
Sunbeam   DM

Hi Irene C, Can I ask your reasons for this question? If you refer to page 3 of the product manual attached external link  you will see a diagram of where the spring sits which is under the filter basket holder. Hope this helps you. Thanks

Is it ok to use a paper filter placed inside the supplied filter. Model PC7900? Keith

Regular consumer
Regular consumer

I removed the mesh filter and place a paper filter in its place instead. I usually wet the paper filter with water under the tap first and then place it directly in the basket. I’ve been doing this for months with no problem - works really well. The mesh filter leached colour dye so I’ve just put it in a cupboard somewhere!

Sunbeam
Sunbeam   DM

Hi Keith, Yes you can but you don't need to put inside the existing filter you can just use on its own. Thanks

I used this machine for the first time today and it only stayed hot for a short time. I have read the manual but can't understand the instructions to keep the coffee hot for longer. Can you please let me know. thanks

The keep warm plate stays hot for about 2 hrs.. anything longer-term and the brew will go bitter....

When the brew ends, usually I will remove the the coffee bag and container too!

Hi there. I’ve just ordered a new glass carafe for our machine but I’m wondering whats an alternative to use while we wait for our product to arrive Thanks

Peter J.
Peter J.

I've never used other carafe for this machine. I do have a Braun carafe that seems to fit the hot plate though the stop drip assembly the filter fits inside of will not dispense. So probably will need to be removed. however there is no guarantee the brew won't spill...

The power light is on but not heating up nor filtering/dripping out coffee. Please advise.
