Sunbeam Toastum TA6210 / TA6410

Rubbish – Worst toaster ever. Doesn't pop up properly and burn toast all the time, even when you turn it down. Worst toaster I have ever had - do not buy a sunbeam product ever.
Disappointing – We bought the Sunbeam TA6410 toaster as we needed a 4 slice with our growing family. It never toasted evenly and you had to keep an eye on it and turn the bread to toast both sides. Upon complaining to Sunbeam, they very kindly sent me a replacement toaster. The one I received is the same model and does the same thing. This toaster is not worth… Read more
using and I am really glad to see that it has been discontinued.
I am unhappy that I gave away my $20 old faithful 2 slice toaster as it worked perfectly.
So now I'm on the hunt for a toaster - not sure what it will be, but it won't be Sunbeam and it will work!
Sunbeam Quantum Thick and Thin – I bought this toaster last year and I couldn't get the setting right. I rang the company to complain and they graciously sent me another one, after I'd returned this one. SAME PROBLEM!! I can't bear it any longer and I can't wait for it to stop working so I'm going out to buy a different toaster today. I'm tired of starting each day with toast that has either been burnt or undertoasted.

What a shame Sunbeam – We received a Sunbeam TA6410 toaster some years ago as a present and it worked well and was very functional, until after a year or so it stopped working. As we didn't have the receipt we purchased another one, again within a year it also stopped working, but this time we had the receipt and had the unit exchanged free of charge. Now this 3rd unit… Read more
has failed and emits electrical sparks when switched on. So within a time frame of some 3 years, three Sunbeam toasters have stopped working and we can thank our lucky stars that no has been electrocuted.
You guessed it the new toaster we have just purchased was not a Sunbeam.
We used to consider Sunbeam a reliable product, but after this we will not be buying any more Sunbeam products.
A Great Toaster – We got this to replace a Breville Ikon Toaster that died after only three years. I was not sorry to see the back end of that Breville. It was impossible to read the weak LED browning display in sunlight, it did not toast very evenly, the lever started to play up and not stay locked down and it was almost a relief when one of the elements blew up… Read more
with a popping sound and we finally had an excuse to replace it.
The Sunbeam TA6410 is everything that the Breville was not. It browns evenly. The simple dial setting is easy to read. Although we've only just got it, I think that it will last well. Our Toaster before the Brevelle was a Sunbeam Toastum and it lasted 15 years. We also have Sunbeam Toastum at work and it is going still going strong after 4 years of daily use.
The Sunbeam TA6410 is a great toaster. Very happy with it.
Don't bother!!! – Don't waste your money and time on purchasing this toaster! As you will either have to return it or bin it as it is so frustrating when you cook toast or crumpets and can't get them out of the toaster. I spend more time trying to get them out than it takes for them to cook and invariably I have to cook them twice as they never seem to be done. So… Read more
they always end up over cooked or under cooked. Never again Sunbeam, never again! It looks good Can't get the toast out on the toaster easily.
Dangerous! – Worked ok for a few weeks, then became erratic. I grumbled that it had the technology of a space ship but still couldn't cook toast properly. Then the other day I found the kitchen full of smoke and my toast a smouldering cinder. It simply failed to pop. Could have burned my house down! I registered here to warn others of this danger. Sunbeam - never again. Fire hazard

Don't Buy it! Zero Rating! – This is the second TA6410B that I have had. Both of them threw sparks and died after about 4 months. I returned the first one thinking I had just gotten unlucky. When the second one did the same. I knew the model was a lemon. Both were never abused, and were cleaned regularly. I usually only ever used it on the weekend so neither of them had had a… Read more
lot of use
I will exchange this one for another brand. No more Sunbeam rubbish for me Up until they both blew they were good 4 month life span for both of them!!
Good day Bugzee. We are sorry to hear about your issue.… Read more (+3 replies)
Sunbeam Toastum – Not 100% Happy with the Sunbeam Toastum Toaster, I purchased this particular toaster a couple of weeks ago because of not only its looks but also all of the things I wanted in a toaster. I have burnt my fingers a few times trying to get muffins and crumpets out of this toaster as it does not pop up high enough, also it is very temperamental at… Read more
times to get the lever to lock down to toast. The look and all the functions Not good for getting muffins & crumpets out of it
How the mighty Mr Sunbeam has fallen!! – I've always held Sunbeam in high regard. Growing up, they were the toasters that kept on going, with that timeless solid appeal. A friend also owns a reasonably modern Sunbeam. It'a always given good service, So when I saw a 4 slice TA6410B on special (it still wasn't that cheap) I grabbed it. It was easy to use, and looked good. However, I… Read more
soon realised it is very fussy with toasting bread. Crumpets were pretty good, if you watched them, but bread would burn along one side and be underdone elsewhere. A slight variation in bread colour would make the difference between burning and underdone. So last night, after 1 1/2 years of putting up with this, I just binned it. I couldn't even allow myself to inflict it on someone else, so it was the bin, not St, Vinnies. Very satisfying.
My $25 KMart replacement has toasted evenly first go!! Looks nice, crumpets fit. Uneven and inconsistent toasting. Worst I've come across.
Happy So Far Sunbeam Toastum TA6410B 4 Slice Brushed Stainless Steel – Picked this toaster up at Target while it was on special at 40% off, paid $39.95, good value at that price. Only had it about 3 weeks, working O.K. at present Appearance: 7/10 Quality of build: 7/10 Toasting Result: 8/10 Toasting Speed: 8/10 Crumpet Toasting 8/10 Uniform Toasting (Both Sides) 8/10 Warranty: 12 months return to store 8/10… Read more · 2
(Hoping it lasts longer than 12 months though)
Appearance is nothing remarkable perhaps a slightly dated look.
Nothing really special in way of extras.
A high lift lever which is just reasonable.
A crumpet button.
Frozen bread button
Has no warming tray.
The crumb tray is just adequate. It could have been slightly wider rather than just finishing at the edge of the toast receiver
Has a cord storage facility underneath
Built in China under license to Sunbeam.
Build quality is about average for Chinese made products. It is like a lot of products today that do not seem to have that solid well built appearance.
The inside elements are not necessarily the best fit with some puckering on the board.
The element holding board seems to warp slightly as it gets hot, causing it to bow out.
In saying this it does not appear to affect the toasting ability. It seems to fairly evenly toast both sides of the bread.
Does it do it's job, Yes it does.
So far I am happy with it. Buying it on sale was a definite plus. I would be reluctant to pay the recommended price which would be about $70 - $90 though as it's life expectancy is not known. Inexpensive (On sale) Seems to toast well
Suckbeam Wrecksum toaster TA6410 – Im sure this product was designed by 'B*stards Incorportated', for those old enough to remember that skit. Have had it just over 2 years, its never toasted effectively or consistantly, the first serves would pop twice irrespective of the setting, and still need to be retoasted to satisfaction, the second serves would burn on the same setting… Read more
without popping. Now the lever that lowers the toast won't lock in the down position, so we can't even use it. Thankfully we have out $14.00 woolies special in the van to see us through. Bad product Mr Sunbeam. Its shiny. irregular toasting on the same setting. Toast never cooks first time on settings 1 thru 4, then cremates at one notch past 4. crumb catcher misses more than it gets, way too small, unit is expensive
Terrible – very dissapointing for a Sunbeam product. All looks and no performance. returned it to the store and bought a different brand toaster The Toastum has a nice sleek and compact design with brushed chrome surface The toastum browned only the edges of the toast. It would not toast a second round of toast until it cooled down. whihc took approximately 3 -4 minutes. The high lift lever failed to lift the bread free of the heat elements.

Bad – Very disappointed that Sunbeam, a so-called reputable brand, let us down after only 14 months of use. There are only 2 of us in this household, & we did not misuse it. We paid quite a bit for this toaster, & the Customer Service rep at Sunbeam H.O. did not even bother to apologise for the product's unreliability no goodwill gesture there,… Read more
expecting me to pay the postage to return it for consideration.
Sunbeam have lost me as a customer - I will NEVER buy this brand again. Everything was fine initially. It toasted ok & I liked the appearance of it. This toaster "broke" after only 14 months. Oh yes, of course it was just out of warranty by 2 months! The lever to enable it to toast would not stay down. I contacted Sunbeam Head Office in NSW, only to be told that if I wanted them to consider (as purely a goodwill gesture)replacing it, I would have to post it to them (from Brisbane to Sydney), & bear the postage cost-too expensive as it is quite a heavy item & they may not have replaced it. There was nowhere in Brisbane that I could take it too - Sunbeam advised that I would be charged for inspection of the toaster if I took it to one of their Brisbane repairers. We previously had a cheapie toaster from Crazy Clarks, & it lasted much much longer than the Sunbeam one - so much for buying a more expensive brand!!
OK – Good overall toaster if purchasing for everyday use. Would be nice if it came with a separate tray to collect extra crumbs. TA6410B Nice wide slots for crumpets and muffins but DO use the crumpet setting otherwise they'll burn (guess that's why it's there). Easy to wipe sides clean. Defrost setting works well. Gathers a lot of crumbs and not… Read more
that easy to empty, needs a lot of shaking upside down to disperse all the crumbs. High lift button not really that high lifting - I still have to stick a knife down to get some things out (when it's turned off, of course).
Prone to burn marks on top of toaster area.

Not too bad – This product isn't too bad for a 4 slice toaster. It does take a bit to warm up and you may have to pop the toast back down 2 times before it cooks but once it's warmed up, it cooks fine. The only dislike is that the wires inside the toaster sometimes get in the way of the toast and the toast becomes stuck! I can fit 4 slices of bread in at one time! Very handy for a family of 5. Toast sometimes gets stuck in the wires.
Terrible – Very disappointing performance from Sunbeam. This is the worst toaster I have ever had. Will be getting rid of it as soon as possible. nothing to recommend Very uneven toasting (especially frozen bread). Inadequate tray - crumbs everywhere. Poor heat control - have burnt my fingers. Hard to clean top of toaster.
This is bad, DONT get it!!! – I brought this toaster , and then after about a month it suddenly stopped working ! So I went back into the store and they said we can just replace it for free for the same model. I go to toast bread in the new one and when ever you try toast something, it would blow all the fuses in the kitchen. Burns most of the time, setting off smoke alarm almost every time. Shiny Unreliable
Bad – Looks great, great function but doesn't live up to expectations. Disappointing and besides it died this week 14 months old, this is two in a row and only two of us using it. mmmm. What can I say. Not cheap Either Crumpet,Frozen and wide opening for thick bread. Has never cooked evenly on both sides.
Terrible – Is the WORST toaster we have ever had. Was a gift to replace a cheap KMart toaster which was much better. Lever to push toast down broke within 2mths of using. Was always stiff and jamming. Lever only plastic. Never toasts anything evenly. Is not actually high lifting.
OK – I have the TA6210B. It is certainly much better than our previous Kambrook toaster, which burnt toast on one side. Even this one isn't as good as I would expect for the price. I think Sunbeam are riding on their past reputation too much and not striving to provide a top quality product these days. As we all know, "they don't make 'em like they… Read more
used to". Looks nice. It does an OK job at toasting. Matches our other Sunbeam stainless steel appliances. The control is a bit touchy. Toasting is a little uneven at times but it's usually OK.
OK – have had this toaster for almost 2 years, and so far it's still working fine. it works great if toasting 2 slices in one slot, or all 4..but if you only want 1 slice, you have to be extra careful or it will burn on one side! looks, quick doesn't toast evenly if you only have 1 slice in it, sensitive controls

Bad – Got this for a wedding present over 3 years ago and still works the same and looks good. Really, first and foremost, a toaster should be able to toast properly and this one doesn't. Not too many other choices on market though to toast other than your standard sliced bread. Ability to toast all shapes and thicknesses of bread. Stylish look and… Read more
much more streamline than most 4 slice toasters. Toasts one side more than the other (even when not in Crumpet mode) - sometimes I flip toast half-way through.
Strange, but seems to auto adjust toasting time depending on how many slices. ie if set for 4 slices to toast ok, will burn with same setting for only 1 slice - bizarre!
Bad – Got this toaster to replace a cheap, old toaster that had served us reliably for many years. Thought by spending more money we would actually get a toaster that would toast bread as you expect. But this toaster was only marginally better than the one we had. It's not really worth the price you pay for it. You would have thought that Sunbeam would… Read more
put more consideration into improving function than appearances. Nice clean design so looks good on the kitchen bench. Can toast four slices of bread and also thicker slices. Doesn't toast very fast nor evenly, so you have to flip the toast half way through. Its also hard to clean. For the price you pay, you could get four toasters that do just as well.
Terrible – We returned it to Myer the next day and found another person returning theirs for the same reason. I suggested that Myer should consider a product recall but they weren't interested in that...how annoying that they probably sold more that day. Looks good Cooks toast unevenly, even with the crumpet setting on "off". We returned it to Myer the next day and found another person returning theirs for the same reason.
Bad – We bought this toaster to replace our old toaster (previous model), mostly because we liked the long slots. Find that even on the highest setting we still have to toast it again. Very annoying and disappointing!! Smaller than the previous model, aesthetics Doesn't toast properly
Terrible – Set the Control to toast lightly & it burns! Crumpet Settings Dont Work Correctly. Cheaply Made & Overpriced. Sunbeams Quality is Going Downhill Lately. Looks Good. Controls dont work! Overpriced.
Terrible – Unfortunately, I thought I would love this toaster, but it just isn't practicle. It doesn't matter what setting you have it on, one side of the bread toasts while the other side jsut gets warm. We have to pop the toast and turn it around, which is a hassle and waste of time. I had a cheap toaster previously which did a great job. I contacted… Read more
sunbeam, and unfortunatly they were not too interested in this issue. Never mind, I will be sure to replace it in the next few months. Looks good Toasts unevenly, hard to keep clean, expensive buy
OK – Our toaster works quite well but isn't perfect. I really love cafe style fruit toast and this machine does it perfectly, but you have to be careful to set the dial exactly or it will burn the surfaces of the toast. I also love crumpets and this machine does them pretty well, but the longest setting isn't enough to do them properly so I end up… Read more
having to push them down again usually. This toaster looks nice in any kitchen, but is quite bulky so we store it away and even that is a chore as I have to lift it up onto a shelf and it's very big to lift. Toasts very thick bread, crumpet function, cool touch so no burnt fingers or melted bread bags, looks stylish Is very bulky, heat control is a bit "touchy" and can burn your toast.
