I went with Sunburn Solar for a battery installation, and the experience has been a massive letdown. From start to finish, the customer service has been non-existent. Poor Logistics: Before the install, they actually expected me to inventory the delivered gear myself to make sure everything was there. I’m not the solar expert—that’s what I’m paying them for. Payment & Ghosting: They demanded full payment upfront before the installation date. As soon as they had the money, the communication stopped. They missed multiple appointments and completely failed to answer calls or follow up on messages, even when we had times scheduled. Technical Incompetence: The system they installed simply isn't working right. It’s misconfigured, and while they keep saying they’re "investigating," they never actually tell me what they’re doing or provide a timeline for a fix. Financial Impact: Because of their poor setup, the system is literally costing me money. It draws power from the grid when it's most expensive and does nothing when it should be saving me money. I’ve had to spend hours on the phone with the manufacturer myself just to try and get basic answers. If you want a company that takes your money and then disappears, leaving you with a broken system, go with Sunburn. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
I entered into a contract with Sunburn Solar and paid a $500 deposit for a solar panel and battery installation. Soon after, I was asked to pay the full purchase price up front, despite being told that the battery was not available at the time. I was not comfortable proceeding under those circumstances and chose to cancel the contract. I then requested a refund of my deposit. Over the following months, I sent multiple emails, made numerous phone calls, and provided my bank details, but received little to no response. Eventually, I was told the refund would be processed, however no payment was made. It was only after I issued a formal written demand, outlining my rights and intention to escalate the matter to consumer authorities, that I was informed the money had been transferred. While I did ultimately receive the refund, the process was unnecessarily prolonged and stressful. Communication was poor throughout, and the handling of the refund was disappointing.
