Will not buy tcl again – Bought the tv and lasted 3 years of limited use of about 3 hours a day. Was slow and lots of software issues despite regular updates. Finally got the black screen issue with sound problem which is not repairable on this model. Outside of warranty of course. First and last tcl to be bought by this customer. Show details

Wouldn’t purchase again – Nice clear picture, reasonably easy to use. The problem we have is it keeps shutting down whilst using apps or YouTube. Have had repair man out twice, had motherboard replaced once, updates done regularly but it continues to shut down. Every time we contact TCL we have to start the explanation process from the beginning - so frustrating. Would not recommend this brand. Show details

Good value, but, – Great picture quality. Good price My only drawback is having to continually pair remote to tv for speech, even after factory resets. Has the clearest of clearest test pics come on when idle on utubes, don't know why pic isn't that clear all the time even on HD stuff.? Show details

Great TV (but a little slow when turning on the first time) – So happy with my new purchase. It was an upgrade from a 60 inches that I had from TCL. Definately better picture quality and sound. Price was also amazing under $2000. Totaly recommend an android TV Show details

A Big TV – Covid Home Cinema during Lockdown. Choice said it was ok so I bought it from Harvey Norman without going into the store and they delivered it promptly. It was very heavy and took me a month of bin cycles to get rid of all the packaging. It has been trouble free and gives a good picture on FHD but lacks scaling skills and shows how bad most of… Read more

our broadcast SD TV is where it lacks impact and is probably worse than my old Hisense 4k tv. Its android operating system is snappy and full featured with every app you would want or the ability to access a play store and download it. It works well as a computer monitor with crisp 4:4:4 text at 4k/60Hz and a PC color mode that makes photo editing professional. It is a very functional product and shows how tvs have evolved to be more like computers. To be better, I think I need to find some magic picture settings to improve the picture a smidgin, or use the nbn for viewing at 4k all the time. This size tv would look sexer in a wide screen format if that occurs and the broadcasters definitly need to lift their game and do higher quality free-to-air broadcasts.

Update: I improved the colours considerably with white balance settings I found online: Gain R- 0 G- -1 B- -30, Offset R-2 G-0 B-0 My model is 75p8mr and I updated the firmware to the latest but did not notice any changes. I contacted TCL and asked "how do you delete a pvr file" and they said we are working on it but currently just take your memory card to a computer for that. Currently the ABC are annoying me on this TV by often broadcasting substandard FHD and with experimental extra audio, on some programs, for the visually impaired, which I can not turn off on the TV or a connected receiver.

Good TV , but can be better – First of all, my model is 75P8MR, not 75P8M. I am quite happy with this TV for the price I paid. This TV runs Android TV and speed is ok SDR content doesn't have any issue. But I have to say HDR is not ideal. Colour looks washed out for some dark scenes and it lacks of brightness Show details

Good clear tv with better app options – Sharp image, good sound and I like its android so you have more app options like kayo you can put on there. The only negative is it does take sometime to start up and turn on and sometimes a few cliches now and then but over all value for money. Show details

Middle of the range – Very clear picture with anything that streams 4K. Not so good with channels that doesn’t support 4K yet. Great sound quality. Nice big screen, looks great. Sometimes the tv lags when a person is speaking. Not all the time though. You barely notice it. If and when it does happen it’s on Netflix and Stan. I would put that down to perhaps internet… Read more

connection. I feel you do need a strong internet connection to get the most out of this tv. Or any 4K tv for that matter.

No issues with the start up menu. It’s fast and of course there is the plus of it being android. No Disney plus but you get everything else. Gaming, as my sons are gamers, it runs perfect picture quality. No lagging or interruptions. My kids find it amazing to play on.

Overall in general regarding the tv, it’s ok. I’m not completely unhappy with it. I’ve looked at other tv reviews and in all honesty there is always negative and positive. I will give an update in 12 months or in-between if anything drastic happens that buyers may need to be aware of.

Ok for the worst part........

TCL support is non-existent. Truly, nobody talks they just pick up the phone. I’ve read other reviews on other sites stating people had a terrible ordeal with TCL support and I can 110% confirm that it’s true given my own personal experience. Having come from a Samsung tv and having amazing support, it really packs a punch when this is what you get from TCL, especially your first experience. Don’t bother writing a message to them via their Australian website, nobody will reply. It doesn’t matter how simple of a request it is. Apparently going off others, I should get a reply back within 4 months. I know, ridiculous right? So just be aware that.

I think overall TCL has a long way to go in regards to their support and Tech support and their response time. I think if that was dramatically improved more people would feel comfortable with the brand TCL. You get what you pay for but the tv isn’t shockingly bad. It’s really quite good for the money.

Would I recommend it? Hard to say this early, but for now I would say yes.

For the price .. amazing. But with things that could be better – I paid $1200 for the 75inch version. I love TVs, home theater and all things associated. I'll start with the good Motion - The 75inch comes with a 200hz panel ( lower inches come with 100hz panels ) the motion is on pare with my LG B7, it is amazing for the price. Interface - I'm a large fan of android operating system due to the vast amount of… Read more

apps you can download. Size - 1-3 years ago it was unheard of to get a 75inch tv with Dolby vision, 4k and 200hz panel.

And now the bad, Color - Sometimes when a scene has a person in a dark room and light hits their face it can cause a odd glow and color shift. Brightness - with 330 nits, it's horrible at HDR and not great at daytime viewing. Night viewing is still good.

When purchasing this TV Ensure you go turn "Dynamic Backlight" to Brightness+ youll thank me

Great tv but – I had this tv for a few days. All looks well from start but as the days go i find things that are lacking. First no disney+ or amazon prime support. This is software related and can be easily fixed. Second the unit seems to struggle processing some 4k hdr10 contents. I think this is hardware related and cant be fixed. Early Review for the TV - not yet fully tried it out – I have to place a note - the model is a 75P8MR (75") no option to place it here Now we just got this TV, its picture is fantastic and the response times for things are great, blacks looks great for a LED, HDR is nice and it comes with feature rich content. Bluetooth, WIfif, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, Chromecast, YouTube, Netflix and Stan. Remote… Read more

control has built in voice commands alongside a normal remote and it also has google home and allexa support.

As I stated we only just got this and so far I am impressed but ultimately time will tell on everything (so will be updating in the future) The connections are standard, I think there could have been more connections but its OK, if your running a few devices with older RCA plugs then you will need a switch box to connect it as only 1 input is able to be applied.

The sound of the TV was impressive, TCL is really a budget orientated market brand, but am impressed by the sound quality - I haven't gamed on it so cannot actually make any references towards gaming

well I will come back in a few months to give an update but to what I see now its really a lovely TV that I have no probs in recommending

Early days but loving it – Pros I have no real knowledge of what to expect in a 4 k tv but i am thrilled so far. I probably need to wait a few weeks, I feel I will be more impressed. sold as a accessory The three year warranty was a consideration, as long as it is honoured. 3 HDMI outlets are great,, I also appreciate the USB outlet as this enables me using time shift and ability to record.

CONS or anxieties so far.

As per other comments, the tv does boot up bye itself but usually like a delayed restart 3 minutes after I turned off (maybe someone can educate me) , or it is a genuine fault?

Maybe i have fat fingers, but I can pick up any remote control i do own, or I have owned, and quickly learn buttons by finger/tactile touch just by shape, size, Braille like buttons etc but i just have to always look at buttons or I select wrong one with 75pm8

Hopefully helpful

Other reviews/comments about wifi dropouts etc.

A lot of generic tech articles on Google, mention you will always benefit connected via ethernet particuarly for full 4k, I am lucky enough to have access to ethernet within 12 inches of tv, and no issues so far as not reliant on a wi fi signal.

I too have had several times I have had a black screen and panicked. In my case I think it was the return key woke the screen. I think adjusting screen sleep time helped, Thanks tcl

Avoid this TV (Blurry NOT clear) – Purchased this TCL online from bing lee & went in store to pick it up, it was sitting right next to the hisense R6 & the picture quality of this tcl was no different to my 10year old plasma, yeah if your just after a big size upgrade then it sure is a big tv but i would honestly say that my old plasma screen would be on par with the image quality… Read more

of this tv. Total shocker in my opinion!!! Also it’s obvious that you get what you pay for but In actual fact the Hisense 75 R6 is only $200 more and the image quality is so much sharper and also brighter and deeper black tones etc.... I’m 100% sure you will thank god you seen my review before buying a new budget 75” tv & run far away from this TCL before you get stuck with a rubbish blurry tv.... do yourself a favour and spend the extra $200 & go for the hisense R6 it’s sharp & bright & blows this TCL away by miles for only $200 extra

Go and view them side by side like I did !!!! Thats all I can say !!!! Also, the hisense frame is slim and sleek and the TCL border is fatter than an old street directory or large bible which you will be needing if you have already purchased this tv before reading my honest review! Hahaha

Rebooting itself randomly. 2 years later, Flash! Bang! It's now dead – This has been a bit of a saga, so, the short version is: Bought it about 2 years ago, it had many faults including rebooting itself, refusing to turn off, loud screeching beeps etc etc. Had he mother board replaced to fix. That had no effect. As the faults were intermittent it was impossible to be videoing what was happening. A couple of months… Read more

ago the power supply emitted a big flash and a loud crack noise. That sealed it's fate. It died there and then. Service guy verified its truly dead status (just as a 2 week covid lockdown started). So, store credit via Harvey Norman was arranged by TCL. I used the store credit to buy a much better Samsung 75" that was on sale. Would I buy another TCL product? Not without having a lobotomy first.

some white and black settings and optimised picture even further.

Works with a HTPC connected up perfectly. Mi Box connected working at 4K. Panasonic Blu Ray Ultra working at 4K. Netflix outstanding at 4K. Tested downloaded movies at 4K - all worked and with no failure on differing sound standards such as DTS and Dolby Digital.

Connected a 2 terrabyte hard drive to USB port. All downloads worked and other material. Connected via DLNA to my NAS Drive (Netgear) - all photos found, home videos videos etc worked. Other computers detected. Blue tooth devices all detected. Not tested.

In Summary: 1) Ensure you a good aerial connection via its internal Channel diagnosis. 2) Ensure you are wired network connected ( not Wireless networking ). This is greater stability in 4k internet connections (high bandwidth) 3) We have NBN optical to the premises. . Ensure your Internet is above 15mbps download or you may choke on 4K. Most internet connections work on Netflix Standard HD without issue.

I will go on testing the TCL TV. We have gotten to the point now where these TVs act more like displays driven by internal computers with operating system. As such this is NOW the nature of Smart TV and require updates to its OS. Many of the complaints are in reality OS related issues with Android TV not the the TV.

Blank Screens can occur with these smart TVs if you do not have reliable aerial system reception. Smart TV will also become unstable in their operating system due to bad wireless connectivity and poor internet bandwidth.

More to come.....

One of the worst Experiences. Avoid this product – The TV and all it's features for the price point are incredible. The picture is clear and crisp. The installation was a breeze and it worked for 1 day. I bought my P8M from Good guys in Prospect. This TV was to replace my Samsung 55inch plasma tv. After the 1st day I switched the power off at the back as I do for all my appliances. Next day I… Read more

switched on my tv and black screen. No video, no picture. Only sound. I called good guys asap to let them know that my brand new tv is potentially a dud.

I called customer service at TCL they advised to get a new one and I might have potentially got a lemon. So fair enough - good guys prospect organised a swap to a new TCL 75 inch P8M. Guess what? Same issue with the 2nd TV. It works for the day then after switching it off - black screen on the second switch on. I couldn't believe it. I called TCL and we attempted to hard reset, do power cycle refreshes, factory reset. Black screen issues persists after switching the TV off. I have dialled it down to potentially being a software issue or energy issue. I'm returning this TV after 2 brand new installs failing on me for Samsung RU7100 with chromecast.

Good guys have been as good to me as they can - however the failure of the TCL product, support and software is such a massive issue I can't deal with it anymore after dropping close to $2500 with install and brackets. It's not worth the time, the headache, the days off work, days with out TV. Pathetic experience.

TCL - if you are reading this review- please contact me as I could like to determine what the fault is and give you guys another turn but as of now - I'm mentally over it.
