I have had my teco 10kg twin tub washing machine 9 years now, apart from the spin lid breaking. I took off the lid and fixed the power connection so it works by the timer. Apart from the lid breaking it is a great washing machine. I hope to get another 9 years washing out of the machine.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY – Please don`t buy this twin tub or you will be replacing it or repairing it much sooner than later regardless of the Kg size and I think it would apply to other makes of Twin Tubs you can get now eg (Palsonic) due to the cheap way it`s made with most being plastic and not meant to last long at all. I bought this Twin Tub in September 2015, by 2017… Read more
one side of the spinner lid broke and by February 2018 the other side of the lid was broken off so I was left with a washer and no spinner. I had to use it for a week just wringing the clothes out by hand til I bought a secondhand top loader. If you are looking for a Twin Tub by the old ones secondhand you can still get them if you look online. I paid $599 only for it to last 2 years and 5 months, it has long gone to the tip where it belongs please don`t make the same mistake..
a few issues – the machine does not have a lint filter and sometimes the clothes have needed extra cleaning to remove fluff. the agitator has popped off before as it is only held on by small plastic clamps underneath and there was a build up of lint and gunk around the shaft that had built up over time so I guess this does not help keeping it in place. the… Read more
clothes tend to get wrapped around the agitator in a big knot so this would not help either with the weight especially when washing sheets and towels it, has damaged clothes once or twice. Its a quiet machine and easy to use but definitely needs a filter especially if your work clothes get fairly dirty.
Not good – This machine is of no use if you have long sleeved shirts and long pants as the clothes become badly tangled and require ironing. Normally I can hang my clothes out carefully and they require minimal ironing, with this machine I waste time untangling a knotted mess of clothes that have become so wrinkled everything needs ironing......would never never buy similar machine again.....customer service was rude and unhellpful Show details
Low Tech meets my needs – As a lifelong frontloader user I ended up with this model instead. All the new machines have so many useless electronic programs that I won't ever be using and are liable to costly repairs when malfunctioning. I wanted something simple and basic that gives me full control and I have that with this machine. Not for everyone but perfect for my… Read more
needs, I get to decide how long my washing cycle goes for, how much water etc. The spin dryer has a whopping 1350 RPM which means the washing comes out almost dry, especially useful in winter.
Limited choices for this type of washer – The Teco 10kg Twin Tub meets my need for a large capacity washer of it's type. I favour a twin tub as we are dependent on rain water in our location and being able to use the same water for several loads (starting with whites/minimal soil and following with linen/colours/dirtier clothes) helps conserve what sometimes becomes a scanty resource. also appreciate the speed with which one can have 3-4 loads washed and out to dry. Unfortunately there are not many choices as far as the twin tubs go and larger models are scarce. Previously I had a Hitachi 9000 which had given me over 20 years of trouble free service until it died dramatically ...
What I like about my new Teco:
It has a large washer bowl with 2 wash choices - Normal and Heavy Duty
Does a good job! Produces a good clean wash.
Spins well. Very satisfactory results.
It is pleasant in appearance - as washing machines go ...
At $580 I felt it was reasonably priced.
What I don't like:
The smaller spin bowl which means a big load may need to be spun in 2 lots. I haven't laundered a large doona in it yet but have concerns this may not fit in the spinner.
The inability to have the 'wash' function operating while the water is being drained from the wash tub. This assists in removing dirt particles, hair, lint ect with the water. Without this function debris settles on the bottom of the bowl, leaving a layer of grime, making the machine harder to clean.
Absence of a lint catcher adjacent to the water outlet. Water is pumped out from under the agitator. Once again makes getting the bowl clean and clear of residual dirt and debris more difficult.
Overall - given my very limited choices, I am satisfied with my purchase albeit hardly overjoyed. However if it continues to function well without fault or failure I'll be a happy laundress Just hoping it will provide at least half the lifetime of service as it's predecessor ...
