An excellent place to start – Update: I've now been using my pressure cooker for 2 years. Still great and gets used weekly. Very happy. I had researched pressure cookers and was all set to lay out for the 'top of the range' when my mum bought me this 12 months ago. I am so glad she did! The timer and instruction booklet taught me (someone who had not only never used a pressure cooker before, but had never seen one used before) how to cook in a pressure cooker. The safety features are great and the steam release is away from your face and fingers. It only browns on the sides if I put it on too hot with not enough liquid, but the inside can be scrubbed hard no issues. The drop down handles are super convenient for dishwasher and cupboard, but cleaning the lid scares me (I don't want to break it!) Easy to use, easy yo clean and fits enough food for a family of four in the 6 litre pot. What more could I ask?

Best Pressure Cooker Ever! – First time pressure cooker user. As with most people who remember their mother's old pressure cooker exploding all over the kitchen, I was hesitate with it at first but needlessly so. This is just so easy to use and there's nothing that would fly off under pressure. The lid mechanism slides easily across to lock the lid securely in place. The removable timer tells you when pressure is achieved so you just turn the heat right down and wait for the timer to finish. Having used it for a few months now, I think if the timer bit the dust I could still easily tell when it was at pressure - you can get replacement timers but they are quite expensive. Replacement seals are the same as for Seb/Clipso/Nutricook 22cm. I love this cooker. It looks great, the handles drop down for easy storage, it's easy to clean and to pour from. A quality piece of cookware.
Quality, Efficiency & Ease Of Use – Wow! Now THIS is a Pressure Cooker! After struggling for 2 years with my very 1st Pressure Cooker (which was a terrible Scanpan one which didn't even Pressurise most of the time) I seen this Acticook on sale at Your Home Depot for $165.00 down from $549.95 with free delivery! With winter approaching I knew I would be wanting to make a lot of my own stocks, soups & comfort foods which never taste better than when cooked in a Pressure Cooker, so I took another leap of pressure cooker faith (after being let down terribly by Scanpan the 1st time) & purchased this Acticook.
This time I waited until I had used my new Pressure Cooker for a few weeks before I put up my review on here (once you post a review on here you can't change it, as I learnt the hard way with my review of the Scanpan 8L Pressure Cooker!) & I can now confidently tell you that this Acticook is fantastic!
Yes you CAN put the lid on and remove it with just one hand as advertised & it really DOES cook food up to 30% quicker than normal Pressure Cookers! I love that you can take the timer out and slip it into your pocket so you can go off to hang out the washing or whatever & you are notified by the alarm when dinner is cooked! In fact I love everything about this pressure cooker except.... when it comes to cleaning the lid, they have put in a screw which you have to undo with a coin or a knife so as to remove the electrical part, prior to submerging the lid in water. Why they didn't just put a wingnut on there I don't know buy hey, if this is the ONLY fault I can find, its all good my friends. :) Efficency & Ease Of Use They should have put a wingnut where they have put a screw which you need a knife or a coin to undo in order to remove the electrical part of the lid prior to submerging in washing up water.
Hi there...thanks for your review. Am very tempted to get one too! Just wondering though if it does a good job of tenderising meats and making good stocks or whether it just cuts down on cooking times? Also, can you please tell me if liquids pour easily out of the pot? My present pressure cooker has a very thick lip, which makes pouring very messy and awkward and so many ingredients get caught behind the lip at the rim.
Hi Jan. Yes it works exactly like a normal Pressure Cooker only it is more efficient because it works more quickly & yes it makes fantastic stocks etc.
As for pouring, I have not had any problems myself. I think you will find that most Pressure Cookers have a lip on the rim because the pots needs to be reinforced for safety... you don't want the lid blowing off with all that pressure in the pot.
I will also mention that I just love the little timer which you can take with you while you continue with your housework and it beeps when the cooking time is up... great if you are out hanging out washing.
You need to shop around for the best price. I would start with myhomedepot which is where I purchased my from.... they are fabulous!
In a nutshell, I would recommend this Pressure Cooker to my friends & family without hesitation. :)
That's great! Thank you so much. I'll certainly try home depot!

I have been using my pressure cooker at least once a week for 4 years now. It is still as good as new mechanically. The seal is still perfect and it is easy to keep clean. The lid needs to be pulled apart to clean inside, but it rarely gets dirty and the instructions are very easy to follow. I had thought I would need to switch to something fancier one day, but I am totally satisfied.
