I would have expected better from this brand – Not happy with my recent purchase of this item. The electrical cord that plugs into the unit itself is very loose and doesn’t stay in especially if you push the buttons to start or stop it the whole unit will slide across your kitchen bench top and the plug will fall out of the unit, it doesn’t matter how hard you push it in the cord is loose, I… Read more
was told that’s normal but I dislike it greatly. Then there’s the issue of not being alerted to when the cooking process has finished, the unit will NOT make a beeping sound so if you walk away from cooking and come back in say a hour the unit could have finished cooking 40 minutes ago but you didn’t know that due to lack of a buzzer or bell. The lack of recipes for this is none existent and you have to guesstimate water ratios and tweaking recipes, who has time for that. The rubber seal around the lid is atrocious in it’s design because it gathers water in the rim and when you open the lid the water spills out all over the place and once you lift the bowl out after cooking the residual water in the rubber seal will spill onto the cooking element at the bottom of the cooker, fire hazard as well as burning out the element before 12 months warranty is up. I put some mince and veg in my cooker and just had to (wing it) with the program I chose to cook it on and also had to guess how much water to use so I went for quick cook and steam function and just had to check it every 20 minutes to see when it had finished cooking, it doesn’t even show you a time after you select a program I absolutely hate that, this so poorly designed because when the water spills out from under the rim when you open the lid and then your loose cord attachment comes out and could be sitting in the spilled water without you knowing and the power is still on !!! Well put it this way I would not go to bed or leave the house if this was cooking anything just in case a fire started, we all know water and electricity doesn’t mix, the slow cook function is preset for 8 hours only it’s the only time guide available for this item apart from the porridge soup buts only written in the booklet not on the machine I can’t tweak it for like 4 hours but I guess if you wanted 4 hours then set a timer on your phone for the 4 hours and go and check the food but then I’d be wondering if it’s cooked properly, but again it’s a lot of guess work and I’m not at all happy.
Ok for slow cook – Slow cooks well with great flavour. small bowl, not the right size for lamb shanks. Easy to use and clean. Externally looks very basic but well illuminated screen. Good for the price. Compact and easy to store when space is limited Show details
Instant Love OhMyGod – I’m in heaven with this beauty. The quality is AhMaZing! Works a beauty and the reward at the end completes you, fills you up. With so many function settings to use, where have I been my whole life. Cooks up a pot roast with ease. The meat was full of flavour, juicy and so tasty. I absolutely love the steamer basket attachment for the… Read more
vegetables. A great machine that replaces 2 of my old machines, my rice cooker and slow cooker. Rice done in minutes and tasting oh so tasty. Simply the best! A great Brand that doesn’t let you down.
Premium thick nonstick pot – I've been using this for a year. High quality proper nonstick pot, not even a single scratch on it yet! (I only use wooden or plastic spatula for stirring or serving the rice and only soft sponge with warm water and dishwashing liquid to clean it which is very easy). Some people say it takes a long time to cook rice but it doesn't! It takes only… Read more
30 minutes for 2 cups of Perfectly cooked rice. If you use cold water from the fridge it takes 50 minutes to cook the rice, if use cold tap water it takes 40 minutes, if use hot tap water it takes 30 minutes, if use boiling water from kettle it takes 20 minutes to cook the rice! (I personally use the cold tap water, it gives a little extra time for the rice to get a bit soaked, but if I'm in a hurry I just boil 2 cups of water in electric kettle and use the boiling water which takes less than 2 minutes to boil *if you don't put extra water in the kettle etc*). Here is how I cook the rice with it; First measure 2 cups of rice and wash it with cold tap water then drain the water all the way, put the washed rice in the nonstick pot and add 2 cups of water (use the same cup), add vegetable oil or butter or light olive oil or mix, pinch of salt, close the lid and set the cooker on white rice and start it, done! If you haven't buy this rice cooker yet and planning to buy it I recommend to buy the newer model which called Tefal Easy Slow & Slow Plus or Tefal RK736 for $139 it's the same thing but with some improvements such as digital display etc. However if you want to buy this model which is RK732 is totally fine. I put some pictures of the RK732 and the new RK736 here.
Designed by someone not planning to use it – The rice takes a little longer than stovetop but really does come out light and fluffy. I’ve even started actually enjoying brown rice.. However!! Not being able to clean the lid by taking it apart is a serious design flaw. Also, actually having instructions in the instruction manual is kind of essential I would have thought. Show details
Excellent – This machine cooks the rice to perfection if you take the trouble to read the instructions first. It also reheats without drying the rice out. So far I’m pretty impressed. Show details
TERRIBLE RICE COOKER – So my rice cooker of 7 years finally died and decided to splurge and buy this WHAT A TERRIBLE PRODUCT!!! I used this for about a month and it almost caused me to have a breakdown. I thought I didn’t know how to cook rice anymore(I’m asian so this is blasphemy). The rice was constantly coming out undercooked. The last straw was when I tried to… Read more
make coconut rice last week and the inside was still raw and the outside was going mushy from overcooking(??!!)
So I broke down and brought the breville rice cooker. Same rice, same water measurement and the rice came out perfect like how I use to make it! So it wasn’t me but this stupid cooker!!!
Also this cooker is terribly designed. It does not beep or make any noise when it’s finished so you have to constantly check on it, the cook time also never accounted for a fluff phase??? The lid is also not detachable(not from what I tried to find through the manual) which is disgusting because there’s a rubber seal that’s quite annoying to clean. It also takes a ridiculous amount of time to cook 2 cups of undercooked rice.
I wish I could return this. I will probably have a burning ceremony when it’s less windy.
I recommend the breville rice cooker instead, initially I was tossing up between this one or the breville one, I got this one because the breville one was not in stock. That one has a fluff timer and it beeps when it’s time to fluff and the lid can be popped out for easy cleaning! Its like this rice cooker was designed by a white person who doesn’t know what good rice is.
The idea was good, but then someone got lost – This cooker prepares the white rice for sushi perfectly. But as for device with so many advertised functions that would be all. No recipes in the set. No recipes on Tefal's web page. No sound at the end of the program. No default time means that you have to check cooking progress continuously. No cord management under the device. Steam is… Read more
condensing on the inside of the lid and leaks all over the device while opening. I'm disappointed. I've been looking for other possible application for this purchase, but I've found none.
