I have purchased two of these for stores and they have both malfunctioned after 6 months of use – I am very disappointed with the purchase of this steamer. I decided to buy mid-range as I wanted to buy something to last but the cord has started fraying and the steamer has caused the circuit breaker to trip. I have also found that the cord is not long enough making it difficult to steam maxi dresses. I do not recommend this if you are wanting to use it regularly or for a lot of items. A few items a week would be ok but more than that it just wears out.

Purchased in at Myer for $250.

excellent product despite a few cons;) – It’s a perfect alternative to a standard iron. We basically use it ever single day and love it!!! If you want to see how it performs and what are the pros and cons, check my video presentation on you tube: https://youtu.be/uos53I-VxUM

Good steam power but very damp clothes – The design is user friendly and good steaming performance, however the clothes become really damp and have to be dried before storing. So much wet steam that the Wall has water dripping down when the steam head is docked facing the wall in between swapping clothes on the steamer. I don’t think silks would tolerate this kind of dampness. Tefal should improve this to give more dry steam to protect clothes. I would also prefer multiple settings which is available in the newer model however the new model lacks the twin poles which is more sturdy.

I have both, the garment steamer as well as the Tefal top end end steam station iron. One cannot replace the other. A garment steamer is used for delicate clothes that are difficult to iron, or may just need a light touch. Eg silk and synthetic blouses, t shirts, even linen and jeans work great with steamers. They are not good with shirts or other large items like pure cotton bed sheets.

Purchased in at David Jones for $210.

Not just a laundry room item - added editing @ 25.03.20 – This is an upgrade to their iron/steamers. It heats within 30 seconds, so no waiting around. The steam head has been re-designed from oval to a triangular shape. This is designed to get into tight corners. As per usual, has attachments included. An added bonus is the storage container for the attachments which is in the base. The water container is larger so less refills. Though the pressure of the steam is less powerful, an added boost button is in this design. Like a iron, the boost button has a minimal time limit. There is also the choice of having the netted backing up/down. Benefits of up, almost like a vertical ironing board. Overall, pros and cons, but do thoroughly recommend. Definitely does cut ironing time and not a burden to iron.

@ 25 March ‘20 I cannot bag the item, because it steams well. My addition to my review stands on craftsmanship. Been less than 1 year and unfortunately the safety barrier (cloth protects over hose) has come away from the steam head. This causes a safety issue as the hose heats up and the rubber is exposed to wrist - elbow. The more you use the steamer, the further down the protective wrap moves down. I got in contact with Tefal and followed their recommendations of organising a service outlet, only to be informed of at least 2 month completion before I get it back. (Due to parts having to come from France). Re contacted Tefal, who wasn’t very helpful at all. Lack of staff (1 person on, as stated by staff member, and wasn’t able to confer with anyone else. Also too, long waiting period and ‘sorry for the inconvenience’ a disappointment, as I have been very happy throughout the years with Tefal Irons/Steamers. Could be I bought a faulty steamer? Worst is the lengthy wait for parts and a product unable to use.

Purchased in at Costco SA, Adelaide for $169.99.
