Timer won't reset – First airfryer that I've used. I cooked 1kg frozen chips in the unit. I did cook them for too long so a bit dry. Feels well engineered but many fail points as it's basically all plastic. Unit has potential but sadly I like my chips oily so not too sure what I'll use it for - chicken nuggets?. The timer worked once, then I needed to remove the… Read more
battery for it to work again. You can set it and it will begin to count down. Later it will chime but after that it will not be able to be set again - button becomes unresponsive.
Great until it started making some strange noises extremely loud – This worked out really nice for many food dishes until it started getting extremely loud almost like a scraping sound. I thought these were suppose to be very good products. Very unhappy because I love all Tefal products. I thought because it was so expensive that it would last many years to come.
Loved the way it cooked, but!!! – Like M above, I had constant breaks from within the 1st few months of buying & using. The paddle broke ( twice) where it clipped in, the lid was replaced , then it broke again & wouldn't stay down without a heavy plate on top to keep the heat in, after 4 separate incidences , 3 phone calls to customer service( who were very prompt & efficient to… Read more
replace the broken bits without any arguments), I threw it out in the rubbish. Loved the way it cooked, but just too flimsy , no matter how gentle & careful it was treated. NO-one used it except me, only 1-2 times a week , only to cook healthy chips, but this unit was not made to last it seems. I would love another one that cooks exactly the same way, obviously a different brand, but still looking at this time.

Excellent product. Disappointed as lid has cracked – Had this product a while now, been very pleased with performance. Noticed a crack in the lid some time ago which has gradually got worse. Last week it broke off completely where it clips in to start use. I can no longer use it for this reason. Have absolutely no complaints about the way it cooks. I notice it is now discontinued, does this mean a replacement lid is out of the question? Would like to hear your comments. Show reply
Fell to bits – Had the artifry fo.R 18 months, after 12 months the cable socket fell to bits, the wires are hanging out,had to tape them into the cabel to get it to work now the handles has fell off dinner ending up all over the floor.
Tasty Fat Free Potatoes – Just love this machine. I have owned two Actifry for a few years. Peel and cut six potatoes into wedges. In a bowl add 2Tblspn mustard oil and half teaspoon cumin powder. Blend. Add potatoes and toss well to coat. Add to Actifry and cook for 25 minutes. Gently place on a heated plate and add salt to taste. Works well with steak, pork. chicken and fish. Show reply
Amazing kitchen appliance – This model is even better than my first ActiFry which sadly died from overwork. This model is deeper and the removable lip is a nice touch. The cord is now removable which makes storage easier. It looks bulkier than the original model but fits the same spot do it is probably an optical illusion. The paddle on this model fits more tightly but tends… Read more · 1
to clump the food a lot more and some of the food eg. Potato gems get a bit mangled and look like gravel. It survives the dishwasher well. It is a lot more economical than using the oven as it doesn't need preheating. I am really happy with this product
Good idea but very poor quality – Had our Actifry for about 4 years , very good idea but very poor quality as the paddle has just fallen apart despite being used very sparingly for just the two of us mainly for chips. Tefal says that it is a disposable item but do not have any in stock and will have to wait 4 -6 weeks. Never mentioned in the adverts that the paddle is disposable.
Not very happy – After three of use of the tefal the paddle broke and the clip on the lid broke. It is also extremly loud when it is on. Have subsequently purchased a Phillips due to the fact that it does not rotate and I can cook a lot more variety of products such as fish and it won't turn it into mash.
Perfect for healthy frying. Alas, very disappointed with the poor quality of the Actifry! – In the 3 years that I have had the Actifry, have raved to friends about this amazing product! Have fried chips, sausages, burgers, all kinds of meat, vegetables, even pies, to great success. Often fry frozen foods and they turn out perfect. My 3 star rating is based on this. Points lost as: It is an expensive appliance, so am very… Read more
disappointed by the quality of the Actifry. The lid clips have broken off, the filter broke apart, unable to use the paddle as the grooves it sits on appears to have been weakened with the exposure to heat and broke off. I have never washed any of the parts in the dishwasher. Desperately need another such frying pan, but do not want to waste my time and money on another Actifry. I no longer have confidence in the product and regret being so quick to recommend to others! Plan to send a copy of this email to Tefal.
Ok for two people – My husband bought this for me as a gift. I was so excited but soon I realized that the size of the pan was never going to feed my family of 5 (2 adults, 2 teens and 1 toddler) for chips! And I didn't feel like the chips were ever crunchy. Also, it takes 40 mins to cook chips and you still need to use another appliance or the stove top to cook… Read more
everything else, so it really hasn't been used much. Low fat too small if you have older children, or more than 3 people in it.
Poor Quality – The Actifry does great vegetables etc but product quality is poor. The clear plastic lid on mine broke the clips/lugs where it locks into the base-was not aligned properly when manufactured. Not long after replacing the cover the paddle broke when on the top shelf of the dishwasher and on inspection I would suggest poor engineering at an obvious… Read more
weak point of the paddle. Great for chips and roast vegs. e.g parsnip, carrots, swwet potatoe etc Expensive, noisy and poor quality plastics. Expensive spare parts.
Cooks well but poor quality – We have been through 2 actifrys both having had the lids and the end of the mixer paddle break, only bought the second one because no other company was making a similar product, made sure I got extended warranty though. it would also be better to have a larger volume Cooks great chips and veggies Poor quality parts and fairly noisy in operation

Know better, choose better.
Great idea but not built to last – I bought this appliance for my 2 sons who loved using it to make chips, snitzels etc. However the first one only lasted 3 months as the piece that anchors the lid to the bowl broke off. Had it replaced and the same thing happened within 2 months. Replaced this one and the same thing happened after 4 months. That was it for me, so I bought a… Read more
Phillips air fryer which we have been using for 7 months (virtually every day), without a problem. For the price I paid for the ACTIFRY I expected a long lasting product, but sadly this is not the case. Easy to use, Great tasting food without the oil Fault with lid anchor
Best fat free chips:) – I love this machine. It is a great way to enjoy guilt free fries:) I found that the chips are even tastier if you infuse them with herbs and spices - I love rosemary and garlic and chilli and smoked paprika. This is a great way to enjoy natural, fresh food. Rather large and difficult to fit in the cupboard
This was perfect – I absolutely loved my Actifry (just under 2 yo) until the plastic became brittle on the lid clip and snapped off it is a useless piece of expensive junk. A new lid is $60 on eBay but who is to say that this will not happen again. Very disappointing.that this happened. Loved cooking with it For the price of the appliance I would have thought it would have lasted longer
healthy – excellent tried frozen chips with no oil and then made own chips which tasted better no more deep frying also found other recipes turned out great. Well worth the cost and a start to a healthier life style but still being able to have a few treats now and then. the idea of using no oil to cook chips
Expensive healthy cooking – Great concept, rather expensive alternative for a deep frier..Good for oven prepackaged chips but better results from cut potatoes.Forget fish in this as the crumb falls off and breaks the fish up. If you like battered fried food forget this product unless its prebattered and small eg chicken nuggets and predone beer battered wedges. Thin chips… Read more
tend to dry out to much. we used this for doing devilled almonds and it was magnificent. does reasonable roast spuds. somehow you always crave the deep fried products more.saying that 1cm cubed potatoes cooked with garlic butter and lightly sprinkled with lemon pepper or steak seasoning is done perfectly. Would recomend this to people requiring weight loss from eating less fatty foods. Healthy alternative to deep frying, great for roasted nuts Noisy. not as tasty as the deep fried alternative.. when timer goes off the machine should stop cooking (it doesnt). Bulky item. breaks up the food and coatings come off easily
if you have a timer you should be ok to walk and turn it off
A healthy new way to cook – Design wise this is a pretty attractive fryer, it is compact and will fit into most kitchen cupboards. It has a few special features such as the handle folds down and locks in place to save space and the oil measure sits inside the machine. It is a little on the heavy side (about 3 1/2 kgs) but still lighter than a chipper filled with oil. … Read more
Ours came with an instruction manual and a 157page acti fry recipe book filled with dietary information and how to get the best out of your machine. Some of the recipes included in the book are mushroom chicken, risotto, stir-fry, chicken drumsticks and a range of desserts too.
I've tried many recipes already some with great success and some not so much. The way the acti fry works is you put in your food then pour over your measured oil, turn it on and set your timer. A paddle inside will turn slowly, constantly turning your ingredients to get an all over cook without you having to constantly check and stir your meal. This gives you great freedom while cooking to not have to stand over your meal (a priceless benefit when cooking with kids around). Unfortunately that great freedom comes at a price, though the paddle is great it also makes it hard to cook more delicate dishes. I've tried cooking crumbed seafood (recipe in book) and it took all the crumb mixture off making an awful mess, I've also tried the meatball recipe in the book only to end up with mince lumps not balls. It makes beautiful chips and all of the other recipes I tried worked great, I can only suggest don't be afraid to add a small amount of liquid (cream or stock) as your dish can quickly become dry.
The acti fry is a pretty noisy machine, I would compare it to the noise made by a automatic citrus juicer and the whole machine gets VERY hot so beware when cooking with kids around.
Clean-up is somewhat easy, the whole basket comes out and the paddle easily unclips. The basket is non stick and a breeze to clean but food gets stuck to the paddle and all in underneath it, expect some scrubbing and the edges of it are rough and pretty painful on your hands. My paddle stained on the first cook but it doesn't effect the way it cooks and if any bits of food overflow the basket into the base don't worry too much as they shrivel up and simply need to be scooped out after cooking.
Overall if you rate this as a general kitchen appliance it probably isn't worth the money but when you compare it to a deep fryer the benefits are endless. No oil spitting all over my kitchen for a start and your usually fried dishes will take on a whole new flavor- no more greasy foods! I have to say my family eat in a whole new healthy way and our purchase of the Tefal Acti Fry was definatly a good one! A healthier way to cook Noisy, gets hot when cooking
