Thanks Tefal! Magnificent product, lasted 16+ years! Astounding! – Our machine died today and only until that happened did I realise just how long we had had it! Took some figuring out but somewhere around 16+ years and it's worked its absolute backside off in our house. When we bought it we remember wondering if it was going to be one of those appliances that you use a few times then it takes up a ton of room in… Read more

the pantry, never being used. Well this machine did some seriously hard work over the years, predominately used as a sushi rice cooker which it made perfectly, or magnificent fluffy long grain Indian rice and occasionally in the early years used as a slow cooker. I cannot think of any issues we ever had with it and it was on our kitchen bench probably 3-4 times a week for 16+ years! It has not missed a beat and I am incredibly sad to see it go but I have no intention of looking at other brands to replace it...if Tefal create products as magnificent as this was, then I'm lining up again for another Tefal product. Thanks Tefal...I'm putting my money down for another product of yours very very soon! :)

Tefal small rice cooker 3 in 1 – It's an OK rice cooker, it has a delayed start timer. It automatically cooks the rice, but some types of rice are more successful than others. You should wash your rice 3 times and let it soak in clean water for 5 minutes, then put that clean moist rice in the Tefal RK7004. Add water as per instructions in your Tefal product manual.  Show details ·  1

Bad – I wouldn't buy another Tefal rice cooker. I think next time I'm going to buy something more robust recommended by Asian friends. It is okay at cooking rice. Because it snaps shut it doesn't splash or wobble like other rice cookers with lids that just perch on the top. After 18 months the Teflon coating is pitting quite badly. The rice is usually… Read more

perfect except for the bottom part which is dried out and hard. You can't remove the cord so if you want to serve from the cooker itself it doesn't look great on your table or buffet.

Good – As with most rice cookers brown patch on bottom of cooked rice, Rinse the cooked rice under hot water and the brown stain vanishes, I feel that this stain is really starch which was not rinsed away during pre-wash, the better you pre-wash your rice prior to cooking the less brown stain Does it it was built for.

Could never go back to a saucepan! – Could never cook rice well, now perfect every time! I do wash it well and no longer have a problem with a brown patch on the bottom. Only time the teflon was scratched was when my son used it with a metal spoon. Would always have a rice cooker now!! Everything. If there are only 2 of us at home I cook a normal amount and keep the rest for fried rice!

Excellent – I purchased this product because I am terrible at cooking rice. It is so easy to cook perfect rice with this cooker and I love that it has a "keep warm" function. We have had ours for over 5 years and never had a problem. Very easy to cook perfect rice. Easy to clean and use. We use regularly for rice and have steamed vegetables in it when we… Read more

need extra stove space (such as Xmas!) with great success. Has a keep warm function that is great if you cook the rice a bit early - this function keeps the rice warm and doesn't dry it out. Nothing. However, need to remember to use the provided cup to ensure you get the right measure of rice to get the right results.

Great product! – The Tefal RK7004 performs the job of three appliances - it's a slow cooker, rice cooker and steamer all in one. I had been looking into getting a rice cooker and slow cooker, so the Tefal RK7004 seemed like a fantastic option considering that cupboard space was an issue.  Why buy separate appliances when this one does the job of three?  I have… Read more

never really used the steaming function, but use it all the time for rice and curries.  The appliance is attractive enough to leave on the bench all the time, and the control buttons are easy to navigate.  For rice, you just select the rice mode and then press start, it will cook automatically.  For slow cooking you just select the time you would like it to cook for (max 9 hours) and for each function, when it is finished it automatically switches to 'keep warm' mode in case you don't get to it in time.  Another reason I chose this model was because of it's lockable lid, I have read reviews on other rice cookers that only have a lid that you place on that allows water to leak out.  I have never had that problem with this product.  I have found cleaning to be easy, the only parts that should require cleaning are easily removable for hand washing. The only issue I have with it is that if you put the rice in and leave it to cook as the instructions say, I find that the rice at the very bottom of the bowl is hard and crispy.  However, it's only a very thin layer of bad rice when the rest of it is perfect.  I've found that stirring it once or twice helps this. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone. *3 appliances in 1

*Easy to clean

*Nice design *Sometimes you might need to stir otherwise the rice at the very bottom might stick

Terrible – We bought this to update an old rice cooker with an alumnium bowl. Although it was working well, health authorities say that aluminium cookware shouldn't be used anymore. But eating flakes of Teflon is probably worse for you! Will try another brand next time. Sealed lid so that steam is released in a controlled way Rice cooked very (too) quickly,… Read more

and was often slightly burnt on the bottom - element may be too hot?

Drip catcher difficult to clean

Like other reviewers, the non-stick lining of bowl has lifted up in patches after less than a year - end of rice cooker!

Excellent – Bought this cooker 4 yrs ago when I had 5 hungry teenagers at home. It's never missed a beat, and it has cooked a vast quantity of rice in that time. Sadly it's time to downsize as I only have 1 teenager left and the cooker doesn't do small quantities well. But, this beauty stays in the cupboard for family get togethers and dinner parties. Big,… Read more

Big, Big, for my big family. Cooks great rice, yes, the bottom few grains are overcooked a bit, but, there's plenty of great rice on the top. LOVE the tight fitting lid and the water collector on the side. The overcooked rice on the bottom, but, all the rice cookers I've had have this issue. Basmati rice needs a little more water than the book stated and I learned this by serving up some crunchy rice.

Excellent – Wonderful every kitchen should have one, mine even came with another pan as well. Easy Easy Easy. If you must buy a sad pressie for your mum, this is it. It doesn't burn the bottom of the rice and it is actually fluffy not stodgy. It is fool proof. I love the fact I only have to have one machine instead of three. Easy to clean and the water doesn't boil over. I wish it would hold more.

Good – I was actually pleasantly surprised at how well this did its job for the price. Very happy overall with the performance and results. It is a no fuss machine that is simple to use and does its job well and I have no problem recommending it. Very easy to use and clean. Rice comes out dryish rather than wet as you would get in boiling, which means… Read more

it ready to use in things like fried rice straight away. Love the delayed start, meaning I can set it up to have everything ready when I need it. None to I can think of

Terrible – Great for cooking what it is designed for (rice, vegetable steamer, slow cooker) but a bit too disposable for the money! Cooks rice well although tends to dry on the bottom. Slow cooker - satisfactory. Vegetable steamer - satisfactory. Pan scratches easily. Had 2 now (1st one replaced under warranty within 6 months - 2nd one died just over 6… Read more

OK – Rice cooker is great once i used different rice/water ratio - i now use water cup of rice to 2 water. Steamer works well. Slow cooker - hopeless. Cooks great rice, easy too, steamer works well Slow cooker doesn't have a heat adjustment and i think it may not be quite hot enough.

Excellent – I bought my rice cooker from Ebay and was sent a damaged product. I was new to Ebay and now know how to choose the right type of seller. Even though the rice cooker had to be glued back together it has coped with being used alot during the last couple of years. In fact, I'm about to buy another Tefal cooker and wouldn't be bothered looking at… Read more

any other brand. I would only purchase the stainless steel finish and not the all over plastic model you can buy. Smart & stylish enough to leave on bench all the time and simple to use. I bought about 4 other rice cookers and had to contend with water spilling out from the top each time. It wasn't until I bought the Tefal that I knew I had found the right rice cooker. As I am a Coeliac I love rice & my cooker certainly is used alot. I don't know why people are complaining about stuck or overcooked rice at the bottom - I think you should fiddle around with your own ratio of rice to water until you're happy. I've found that 11/2 rice to 41/2 cups of water with the included container makes ample rice for two people when it comes to stir fry. I've left the cooker on for ages and still the rice hasn't dried out with this measurement. No complaints at all - even cleaning it is easy, especially if done straight away.
