please please dont buy – Camera struggles with even basic use, head phone jack lasted about 3 months, phone now runs incredibly slowly and struggles with installed apps ie google search bar, then locks up. Continually deletes saved favourite on phone list, occasionally phone will ring and thats it, who is ringing how do I answer it??. Nothing on the screen. No way to… Read more
answer call. Guess what restart phone again. Reception nothing to rave about. Phone is not even a year old. Only good point, is it is robust. Just stay away. I'm paying mine out and in the bin it goes. Has been nothing but frustrating.
not quite tough – l lent on the phone & cracked the screen .... not dropped. it was totally useless with 1 crack in screen. minimum $250 to replace screen & up to 10 day till they get parts as it not a popular model. other than the not toughness its ok for a average priced phone. would be better in different colours Show details
Good websites/ very useful in good detail – This website was good and useful for me and made me descide and think twice about buying a Telstra tough 3 thank you heaps, I also like this website cause it gives a lot of detail and information about the product due to the good detail and very specific in what there talking about that's product review Show details
Not that TOUGH – Piece of crap . Cracked the screen can't get repaired , Telstra said just buy a new one. Would not buy another one.No wonder it has been discontinued by Telstra .Have tried many phone repairers and none of them can repair The Telstra Tough Max .Got told no one can REPAIR it TufF by name only
Tough, well yes, if you try and eat it! – This ain't a 'tough' phone. It was designed by a female or an Asian guy who has got miniature hands and Ph.D in IT! It seems every bloody phone on the planet has to have a completely different way of being used. Texting is different. Adding symbols is different. The buttons are made for five year old's hands. The battery cover will come off at… Read more
the most gentle suggestion. The volume is poor. Often double touch on keys to create a protocol when one would be quite sufficient. We are not eight years old.
OK!!!
For a "tough" phone it is weak.
If you want a tough phone see the Sonim XP5. These T55 are for kids in the playground.
Tough Max Tough Phone – This is a review for TELSTRA TOUGH MAX. I bought mine because I was forever dropping my phone with resulting problems. I have dropped my Tough Max numerous times and have never had a problem with it and certainly none of those mentioned in the other reviews. I have put a screen protector on it just for safety's sake. The phone does have a few… Read more
minor software glitches but nothing of significance. A good buy for the money and it does have a very robust feel to it compared to all the other phones I have had. A year and some months on battery struggled to last 7 hours with little-known use. Software glitches have got worse. Most of my contacts disappeared and took quite some time. Phone beingvery robust is the only thing in its favour. Have now bought a new galaxy s5 for less money. At least I can replace the battery in this one
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE – We purchased them for our fitters in our business. What a rubbish phone. Can't answer calls, can't receive texts, batteries go flat very quickly, screens go black - just to name a few things. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE if you are a business person you are wasting your money and Telstra DO NOT CARE.
Wouldn't waste your money – The Telstra Tough 3, not so tough fell apart, keeps locking up can't ring or send texts on it or receive them either, best place is the bin. Telstra no help neither, great when you need your phone to run a business. Key pad doesn't always work. Now all I can is make emergency calls don't think the Police, Ambos or fire fighter can help me.
Not a tradie phone – Got this phone three months ago broke screen first month. Was never dropped, broke in pocket cost $180 to replace on stay connected just broke it again in my pocket. THIS IS NOT A TRADIE PHONE AS THEY CLAIM DO NOT GET SUCKED IN TO BUYING THIS PHONE. You can't even get a hard life case.
Stupid torch button – There's a button on the top of the case. It turns the torchlight on. It likes to do this ALL THE TIME when the phone is in your pocket. A more useless design flaw you couldn't find. An infuriating stress inducing disaster of a phone. Steer well clear. Unless you want to experience a deep and regular loathing for what is essentially landfill.
Perfect for me – I've had two of these phones and been using them for about 3 years. I only want the phone and SMS functions, I don't need all the internet garbage on a phone, and since I use mine internationally often, I don't want high roaming data charges either. They have been dropped numerous times without a problem. They are difficult to buy now though, as Telstra wants to sell the data charges more than the phones.
The worst phone I have ever had the misfortune of using!! – Bought three of these in April for the work guys, the last one that didn't have a cracked screen, smashed this morning (Oct 19th 2015) being dropped from approx. a metre. Not only is the screen extremely fragile but the processing power of the CPU is slower than my 6 year old Nokia which I'm back onto again. BTW my own personal "Telstra Weak" has already been replaced once in May so we've had four fail inside 6 months.
Telstra not so tough phone – For an phone advertised as 'tough' and ruggedized it is amazing easy to crack the screen. It was dropped from not much height onto carpet and the whole screen is cracked. And Telstra apparently cant even give me a rough estimate of how much it will cost to get the screen fixed without paying $50 service fee first. Basically it is a crappy fragile phone and you would be better buying a cheap $50 phone that doesn't break everytime you drop it.

Just works – Needed a rugged phone out in the field, sites are in the tropics and my field guys are all thumbs... Cope with a fair amount of abuse and just work. Can't ask for much more for a sub $200 mobile Requirement is for only SMS and Calls, have a smart phone in a rugged case for staff needing email.
still working after 3 months – I bought the telstra tough 3 waterproof mobile phone from the telstra shop and started using it and found it satisfactory as the screen is colourful and the mobile phone design is easy to use as the mobile phone Keypad tells which number plus the battery lasts a long time though the only thing I didn't like about the telstra tough 3 is have to… Read more

The Telstra 'Tough' Phone 3 is an absolute waste of money. The phone advertisement is misleading an – I purchased the Telstra Tough phone 3, from Telstra, for my daughter on the 13 February 2015 The advertising is very misleading - tough, waterproof, dust and shock resistant. Three days later the cover, very brittle, over the charging plug had broken off (we have used several Nokia phones with the same connection with no problem) and the back… Read more
of the phone comes off easily. Several visits to two Telstra shops had no satisfactory outcome - they would send the phone back to see if human interventation was the fault (one has to physically remove the plug to allow the charge plug to enter), and they would not confirm that there would be no cost - management would simply NOT replace the new phone, which I might add is for a profoundly disabled person who is at risk if there is no communication - her phone has a Vodaphone simcard and Telstras lend easy phones are only Telstra usable, and my daughter cannot operate a touch screen. No amount of common sense prevailed, to the contrary - and we had to leave the store with a faulty phone and at this point of frustration I am not sure that the rest of the phone is working properly. Very angry.
Broken screen – Rubbish , dropped approximately 1 meter screen smashed this is the second t55 that has broken the 1st was only in pocket not dropped and screen broken . Absolute rubbish for supposed tough phone. Cheaper to replace phone than get repaired , con job by telstra selling phones that don't live up to expectations . Poor quality glass
OK phone but NOT COMPLETELY UNLOCKED – Hi, I bought a T55 Telstra, supposedly unlocked - to use on Telstra when in Australia, then put my Vodafone sim in to use while in NZ, all good except can't send or receive MMS messages in NZ on Vodafone. Get a txt saying MMS notification, click on retreive but it never downloads. No-one wants to tell you how to fix so presume you can't so its not… Read more
or not able to be fully unlocked - beware !! disappointing An OK phone that has antenna option so able to increase range considerably, good out bush not 'unlocked' as described, can call and txt but unable to send or receive pic's, no back up/help at all from Telstra
