Thetford Mk3 Caprice stove poor design and badly made – Thought at the price this stove would be well made but this was far from the case - poorly made with light materials, no sides supplied. Knobs broke in first few months. The clip that holds knob onto spline totally inadequate - company refused to replace under warranty.  Show details

Unprofessional design – I've only just removed this oven from the box and realized it doesn't have sides or a rear cover which makes the oven look half finished not to mention how easily wires etc. could be damaged in the install process. Really poor Thetford, I think you could've done better.  Show details

Rusting – Grill thermocouple problems. Grill worked only sporadically over the last two years with the grill refusing to stay lit. It was repaired three times. Rust problems around stove rim from unavoidable nearby sink splashes. Rust on underside of the glass cooktop. Inside of knobs rusting. The ability to turn the knob rests on a slim metal piece which… Read more

can become loose inside & fall out rendering the knob useless. Accused by Thetford of vigorous cleaning but I just wipe down. Not happy. Thetford also justified the situation by stating the item was manufactured for a caravan, not a home, inferring it was suitable only for casual use & not long term. It was apparently my fault for using it every day for the last 25 months. It is still under warranty.

Rear of cooktop is unsealed & spill tray does not extend to the back of the stove. Spills will go straight down behind the drawer beneath &/or floor below. I would advise checking behind regularly to clean. Sealing with heat resistant silicone is advised.

Oven is volcanically hot the top 15cm but warm on the bottom. Bread will burn on top while still being raw underneath. Preheating would mitigate this but you will waste a lot of gas. I found a rectangular stone pizza tray to keep on the bottom which helps a little. Pastry needs to be precooked before use in pies/flans as the bottom will not cook.

The hot plate shorted out after 18 months of use when connected to power. Unsure of cause. The grill & gas cooktop cook well when working.

2018 Caprice MK 3 – Cooker looks good out of the box. The oven and small burner do not light with the igniter but do light with a lighter. The oven does not cook food evenly. To bake anything you have to turn the tray and for bread you have to invert the loaf during baking. One of the burners does not produce full power. The grill is inadequate as the burner is not… Read more

wide enough. The brushed stainless top is very hard to clean and never looks clean. The central vent is a trap for any spills and requires dismantling of the top for access to clean. Rust appeared along the edges of the cooker after the first weeks use and has increased over our 15 months of daily operation. This cooker is poorly designed and build quality is low.

Works, looks good, BUT! – Stove Works ok, Grill barely adequate due to only having narrow centre burner. Oven works Ok but no temperature setting like home just 1-10 setting. Not happy with cooktop stainless as has breather slots in it I'd say for airflow for oven and grill and let's stuff from cooking get in and you can't clean it easily at all. Show details

Worried – I have just purchased this oven and am about to fit it into our Viscount caravan. I am a little worried about all the issues in the comments. Any tips would be appreciated Show details

Loving this oven – I initially had problems with the oven not lighting. Had an independent gas fitter (for the RV industry) fix the problem, which was a simple fix. Have used it constantly since and get fantastic results. We have been living in our van for a while and I use it almost daily. It has not let me down since being fixed. Very happy with my oven. Show details

Do not take your eyes off it – As a full time caravanner for 2 years I know this stove well. You have to watch it like a hawk. First problem was when the griller door exploded (whilst travelling) resulting shattered glass in bed etc. Next the glass cover lid fell off (whilst travelling) but did not break. For a caravan installation the cover lid hinges should be secured through… Read more

holes in glass. I will fix all problems when the oven door falls off. Perhaps a caravan stove should have metal doors and covers...The 3 gas/1 electric cooktop idea is great but have trouble with both being too hot on low and not hot enough on high. The griller is far too cool/slow. However, it is ten times better than the useless Spinflo 2 burner and grill I also have! (wish I had kept that old black and white ceramic gas stove top from the 60s! I will master the oven now I am into bread making,, In its defence,, it is only a compact machine. Now trying to master the new Weber! Whats for lunch? caution!! This stove is installed in my Newage caravan and is now over 2 years old. On the 3/11/14 as I pressed the ignitor for the oven there was an explosion that blew all the drawers out of the cabinetry that the stove is installed in! No real harm done and no fire! The licensed and qualified repair man showed me that the installer had used mis matched nuts on the gas stove isolator tap that is in a void under the stove allowing a gas leak to build up in cabinetry! The isolator taps come with the correct nuts, so the installer had used nuts from some other source! The same situation was found on the hot water unit! the same situation was found on the fridge but its isolator is out side of the van so any leak cannot build up in van! Check your nuts! cheers, Greg (with no eye lashes).

Thetford Oven - caravan – LOVE this oven combination - pleasantly surprised at the gas performance. The burners are easy to graduate and the oven and griller perform very well. All burners from top to oven light first time, easily. Easy to clean. Has a protection barrier at the front of the burners. It's a winner. Easy to use, cooks well, easy to clean
