Life saving reassurance – We received this monitor as a gift from my mother in law. It seemed a little 'over the top' but we gratefully accepted it and thanked her for her generosity. instructions are clear and thorough and we tested it and checked it all worked before we put it to use. We connected it up once our bub moved into his own room at just under 3 months. In the… Read more

past 2 months, the alarm has gone of 3 times, and each time seems to have been a genuine alarm and has seen us leap out of bed and race into his room. The sensitivity of the sensor pad was turned up as high as it could go each time.

The first and third alarms have required us to gently shake our little one to start him breathing again - each time he gasped/took a very big inhale and settled back into sleep. The second alarm seemed to startle him enough to wake him and he was blinking his eyes and looking confused when we entered his room, but breathing again on his own.

I know people say babies do this all the time, we just aren't aware of it, and we have spoken to our GP/Pediatrician about infant sleep apnoea but have been told this is normal. But the fact that we had to physically rouse our little boy to get him breathing again - I don't even want to think about what may have happened had we not had this monitor connected. Maybe nothing, ...but maybe not.

There's recently been a safety alert from Tommee Tippee to offer a free cord wrap kit for owners of this monitor to prevent strangulation dangers - you apply online via this link if you have an old model and want to obtain the kit for free: http://www.tommeetippee.com.au/safety-alert.asp

The cord is quite sensitive and can easily register false movement (bumping, vibrations carrying though the floors etc) which you need to be aware of if you want to ensure it is being used accurately and detecting baby and not other interference.

It also sets off a wicked high pitched alarm every time you forget to turn it off before picking bub up (I do this at least once a night - every night, I always forget when half asleep!)

The 2 way speaker is handy too - the ability to talk back into the parent device is handy.

My only downside would have been the "ping pong" sound that is emitted to register bubs movement being detected. This can be turned off, however after our first alarm, and then second and now third, this little noise has now become comforting - as annoying as it is!

Overall, great device. I thoroughly recommend it. Sensitivity and volume variance, 2 way speaker, nightlight, baby room temp

Peace of mind – We purchased this monitor for under $80 on BrandsExclusive for our first child. Initially, I was a bit hesitant after reading some reviews. Once set up properly in our babies bassinet, we have only had one "false alarm" in two months. My sister in law who also has the same device, explained we had the sensor level on too high so she… Read more

decreased it to the medium level which has been perfect ever since.

Now, my partner and I can sleep peacefully! Just don't forget to turn it off once you remove bub from the bassinet/cot! Reliable Like anything technological, it can give false readings. Better safe than sorry!

Don't bother – Got this on Mumgo for $99, have seen it for as low as $69....it works ok as a sound monitor but the sensor bad isn't great, kept getting false alarms despite sensitivity being on highest setting, baby would be directly on top moving around & still going off. Also first digit of temp display is blank so if it is 23 degrees the monitor will display… Read more

3 degrees. Night light, talk back & everything else ok & it does the job if you can get sensor pad to work properly but I wouldn't recommend & there are better ones around. Price & trusted brand Didn't always work properly

Terrible! Will never ever buy it again! – Purchased it from Harvey Norman 2 months ago. Allready had it replaced after first 3 weeks. Sensor kept going off, when baby was moving and breathing. Took it back and got offered a replacent, so decided to try it again. It worked excelent for 4 weeks, but that was it. The monitor was going off all the time, even when baby was moving. We tried… Read more

putting sensor in different spots and sensativity setting was on maximum, but nothing worked. The baby was over 6kg, so weight wasn't an issue in our case. I will never buy it again! Clarity and sound was good, but foulty sensor matt made it unusable.

Sent it back – We bought this monitor from mumgo last year thinking we for a great deal. However when it came time to actually use the product what followed was nights spent running to bubs room as the alarm sounded in the middle of the night. Following weeks of this as he got heavier it did go off less but nevertheless it continued to alarm during the middle of… Read more

the night when everyone was finally asleep.

I went on to read reviews and found that the sensor pad had often alarmed for other people when their bubs were ok too and found that if you have a heavier bub it works better or you could place the sensor mat above the mattress under some thick blankets. After doing that it only alarmed once and in the end I contacted tommee tippee and returned the product under warranty. Good price, great sound quality & worked above mattress well Sensor pad doesn't seem sensitive enough even on the highest setting.

Does its job – I purchased this monitor off catch of the day for 69 dollars and it has been great. It was a little hard to work out at the beginning but once you do it's really easy. The sensor pad is really great to have and goes off if it does not detect movement within 20 second. Had a few false alarms but the alarm noise will stop if it detects movement once… Read more

it's gone off which is handy. Really good range and the talk back system is great to have also. I often talk to my bub through it to calm her before I go and get her from her naps. All round not bad for 69 dollars. Good buy :) Sensors pad, talk back system, inexpensive and realiable. Instruction manual could be a bit better!

Does the job – I've read a lot of negative reviews about this brand but no reviews on this monitor. I purchased this on Choice's recommendation and also because it was for sale on Brands Exclusive for $120 Despite a few teething problems with the sensor monitor and false alarms, this monitor does what it is supposed to. Family and friends have more expensive… Read more

brands and I don't sense there is too much of a difference. Sound clarity is excellent. The parent unit tells you the temperature in the room which helps to monitor baby's temperature. Sensor mat seems to only really function when baby is over four kilograms otherwise it will false alarm.
