TomTom Go 6100 Questions & Answers
Bought a second hand unit with no sim. Any way it can still be used?
Update by connecting to PC. It'll still work. SIM (I think it is built in) is just for updating maps, which has not been working since Australia shut down 2G network. GPS unit should work fine.
why can't you replace the battery in the 6100 tom tom - it shows you how on youtube and the battery is available yet tom tom say not you can't change it. I have for about $34 and it works in the car but the battery says empty so I have just reset it to see if that works, has anyone successfully replaced a battery in their gps.?
I reset it and left it connected to the computer for a couple of hours and hey presto the battery picture showed it as full so will now try it in the car and see how we go but its looking good
My Tomtom 6100 tells me I am doing 5KM less than I am actually doing
How can I correct this ?
GPS speeds are the most accurate and have a 1% tolerance so if your GPS device shows that you are doing 100km/h then that means you are doing between 99 to 101 km/h. Your car on the other hand takes its speed from mechanical means so even if you change your wheel or tyre size from the original ones then your speed will be different to what your speedometer shows. The other thing is that car manufacturers calibrate the speedometer in the factory showing about 4-5km less then what you are actually doing. This means when your GPS shows that you are doing 100km/h then more than likely your speedometer will show around 95-96km/h and your GPS is the correct one. I have owned quite a few new cars and GPS devices and the same discrepancy was evident every time as I described it above.
I agree that a GPS is likely to show the correct speed but most factory speedos that I have come across show a speed of about 5km/h more than the actual speed of the vehicle, not less?
Ian, read the question again!
DoG - pretty sure Ian was replying to Andrew who was saying the opposite to the original question.
GPS Speed will be the correct one.Your speedo is not reading correctly. Have you put new tyres on it that arent the OEM Profile. Putting the incorrect Profile tyres on a car will change the rolling radius which makes the Speedo not read correctly.
What is maximum stop available in Go 6100?
I am not sure what you mean. You should be able to get that from the product specifications. If you are talking about poi's, then I would say that nobody knows - even tomtom.
Maximum amount of stops per trip?
No idea I have done up to 5.
