I should have done more research – Mower does not have enough power. New oil supplied is to hard to see on yellow dipstick. Does not seem to cut very well. The self propelled feature works well. Show details
Happy with purchase – Very easy to push and pull backwards since it's self propelled. I don't know about cutting wet grass since I don't do that and I don't let it get excessively long either. I mow roughly every 7-9 days and it works great. I have not had any mechanical problems. I pumped the push button about 20 times before starting. Show details
Expensive junk – Not enough power Self propeller has failed This mower has always been a problem. Starts from cold ok but when in use can't restart. Catcher doesn't work properly as it gets clogged. Mulcher no longer works. time for a new mower I think and it won't be a toro. Maybe time for a ride on Show details
Mistake of my life – I purchased my Toro because it looked great with excellent cutting width and is self propelled...putting the mower through its paces was a different story. The motor is not strong enough for the cutting width, frankly it is totally under powered. Secondly, this Toro cannot mow wet or long grass, this is because the motor is under powered and the… Read more
chute feeding into the catcher clogs up within seconds...very frustrating! The biggest mistake I made was selling my Victa for a Toro.
Pile of rubbish – I bought it because of the self propelled functionality & the easy start. Hah - easy start - you mean won't start. It's the worst mistake I ever made. I had it back to the shop one day after buying it because it wouldn't start but of course it did for them. 2 weeks later it was back again & they agreed there was a problem. 2 weeks after that… Read more
I get it back & they want to charge me for a service. After that is sorted out (I wouldn't pay) I've had nothing but trouble since. Like I said - it's a pile of rubbish.
Toro junk – I bought this mower after it was recommended by the sales person. It is atrocious. First time operated the wheel adjuster came lose and jammed in the wheel. Since then the drive system has failed. the spark plug lead keeps falling off. It will not work on damp grass. It does not cut low enough. The plastic shute has split, It now stays in my shed & I have replaced it with a Honda mower.
TORO Model #20037 Personal Pace 22" Recycler – I purchased the Model #20037 in 2012 Oct (steel body) and have had to replace two (2) drive system transmissions. Rear drive wheel also fell off without warning. Toro refuses to apply warranty terms and conditions to this situation citing industry wide failure rates to justify possible operator/user error. The gears in the transmission unit are… Read more
plastic upon cast metal and probably manufactured in Mexico. My advice to anyone buying this Series Toro Mower would be to report the slightest observed abnormal noise and functioning of the drive system on the 20030s series of these mowers. Secondly do not expect redress from Toro if your complaint type falls within the group of lowest types of complaints received worldwide, compared with the thousand of mowers sold. Cut width, hp Rating, Underhousing Cleaning Feature, Self Propel, Easy Start Self Propel Drive System Fails Frequently. Use of poor manufacturing materials in transmission.
Bad – After 22 months the self-propelled gear-box stopped working. I rang the service agent in Dural where I bought it. I was told –“it’s just a simple belt adjustment- Can you wait till after Christmas?” (It actually doesn’t even have a belt- shows what the dealer knows!) When I took the TORO back in February and explained the situation I was… Read more
told ”ready in 2 days”- 4 weeks later I picked up the mower with a $486 bill. The whole gearbox needed replacing!
Fortunately they agreed to do this under warranty when I explained what they had earlier told me.
I got 3 “mows” out of the new gearbox before one wheel decided to “no longer be self propelled”.
I again returned the mower for repair and waited a further five and a half weeks. Apparently the new Gearbox had locked up and destroyed itself!
I finally got the mower back. Between the agent and TORO most of the repair was covered by warranty –but I paid about $140 for labour. I can only assume that the mower is rubbish and that Toro provide only limited parts to their agents.
For TWO gear-boxes to die after 2 years of mowing a small domestic lawn does not bode well for its longevity! Don’t rely on any sort of after-sales service!
(Also -I bought this mower from a dealer that Bunnings informed me that they send their warranty repairs to! I thought I was being clever and buying it direct from the agent).
Would never again buy TORO!
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!
I expected this mower to last "for years"-but it seems the gearbox is rubbish. It's spent nearly 3 months waiting for repair this year (so far). TORO ignore emails, the Service Agent provides no updates and then makes promises which don't eventuate! The engine starts and runs well.
2 year warranty was OK.
Cuts and mulches very well-nothing seems toslow it down!
The dealer tried to do the right thing but was seemingly hampered by slow parts delivery from TORO. 2 gearboxes (plus rear whels and gears and bearings) in a litle over 2 years of domestic use!
My old self-propelled MTD mower lasted 15 years with NO gearbox problems ever and received minimal service!
After sale service "snail-like".
OK – If you do not have a small, flat, perfect lawn, do not buy this mower. Also as with previous reviews, I now have gearbox problems that will necessitate replacing the mower with something else as the cost of repairing the gearbox is as much as a new mower. Light, easy to use on a perferct, flat & dry lawn. For light useage everything works well.… Read more
Clogs when wet, lowest setting too high, slight increase in lawn density it stops and now gearbox problems.
Worse lawnmower I have ever owned. First time out wheel adjuster jumped out and jammed up wheel.… Read more
OK – You get what you pay for, could have some easy design improvents making it much better value, needs better dealer support good wide cut, strong motor, good starting.Reasonable value in the self propelled segment. Poor service support, might as well buy from Bunnings. Rear flap ears too quickly and gets stuck on reversing, air filter replacement… Read more
expensive, cable lever on personal pace handle is plastic and breaks eventually, it should be metal, blade replacement may be difficult for average handy man.Drive transmission packed it in after 6 years of hard work, not robust enough for large rough work.
Good – I like this mower because it takes me half the time to cut my lawn as well as half the effort. The build quality is ok but not great and as it is only 6 months old it is reliable at this stage. I have a 1/2 acre block so I love the self propelled feature, I can cut the whole lawn and not be exhausted. The large 21"inch cut makes it easier as well.… Read more
The motor satrts easily from cold, it's just when I turn it off to empty the bag that it then can take up to 10 pulls to restart, not sure why. This mower doesn't work well on damp grass, the grass gathers and clogs the blade area really quickly causing it to struggle and stall even when the grass in't long. My sewer system is a EnviroCycle therefore the grass is always a little damp in some spots and then this is where it begins to struggle also begins to not catch.
Bad – wouldnt deal with this dealer again. would probably buy from bunnings as prices the same and service couldn't be any worse cuts well and catcher works well. easy to use because of self propel very unreliable. used it three times and broken down twice already requiring dealer intervention. drive wheels loccked up and wouldn't budge. dealer… Read more
unhelpful. only interested in sale, not service. six weeks delay for repairs as workshop busy (on a one month old mower
Terrible – The mower may be great, but the fact that a dealer / company rep thought it would be a good idea to post fake reviews is unfortunate.
Find out how Toro Super Recycler 20037 compares to other Petrol Lawn Mowers
Know better, choose better.
Excellent – We have alot of grass to mow but I couldn't afford a ride onThis was recommended and I can say am not disappointed next best thing to ride on. Starts first time Great cutting width Cord is ridiculously long(tie a knot in it) Blade doesn't go very low for manicured lawns
Excellent – A pleasure to use, only on Grass which is not wet. Mulches well and Grass / Lawn is much healthier. I am out Western Qld where there is limited water for Lawn. Had to puschase an adaptor for the Hose connection....American Thread NOT BSP I also have a Toro Ride-On 267 H Easy to Start, Easy to use [ I have 2 new KNEES :-( ] and Mulches well. Would like lower cutting settings, Wish the EX wouldn't keep Borrowing it.
Terrible – This has been a real disappointment - i thought Toro had turf machinery down pat - obviously not. In being repaired for the 4th time. ian7739 again - the dammed thing has failed again - rubbish. everything - the colour is about all that is ok with it!
