Toro 21" Recycler Mower - A Dead Loss – I couldn't agree more with the other review on this site. The Toro 21" Recycler is a beast - it's heavy to maneuver/push and it's catcher volume rate is very low to extremely poor, depending the moisture content of the grass. The slightest bit of damp and you may as well just leave the catcher off the mower. Its blade is a solid bar of metal sharpened on one side of each end - essentially just a covered slasher. Attempts at using it on my cultivated lawn resulted in tearing of the top cover and large amounts of leavings that required raking and gathering. It doesn't generate enough catcher suction to lift cuttings off hard surfaces and hitting any sort of bump results in large clumps of cuttings dumping onto the lawn from inside the chute where it gets clogged. Its lowest height setting is really too high for anything but a public footpath or playing field - it isn't really a 'lawn' mower at all - more of a 'grass cutter'. Mine is now for sale at 30% of purchase price after less than a year of use. A dead loss.

Purchased in at Bunnings Warehouse for $499.

It cuts lawn - But! – Lawn lovers and lawn bowlers need not apply. That first sentence should be enough to warn off a large percentage of buyers - Including myself had there been a review in existence prior to buying this mower. The Toro is a nice mower. It cuts lawn as described. However. It is a beast of a thing better suited to slashing larger properties who are not looking to win any awards for lawn presentation. The unit itself does as described and cuts lawn. But it lacks any finesse options like useful height adjustment.

This thing just does not get low enough. Even after 2 weeks growth in SA (Late November + Kikuyu) I was still only getting half a bag of trimmings from 250sqm of lawn. Which left me with a lovely fluffy and tough school oval look - acceptable but re-read the top sentence if you are chasing a green.

Pros - Beast of a mower 21" deck Starts first time Bag size

Cons - Cuts very high A tad flimsy (lots of plastic) Really only suitable for people who cut their lawn once a month and aren't chasing that putting green look

Overall - Cuts lawn like a champ. Just does not get low enough to do it on the regular.
