the size - I am 2m tall and the room inside was great. The less positive side of things were: the plastic steering wheel (admittedly I drove the entry level model but it was a little rough to hand); the oppressively dark headlining - the ceiling was dark grey and the cabin felt a little oppressive, and finally the adaptive cruise control had an annoying habit of slowing down by about 5 km/h whenever I went around a corner, regardless of the severity of the corner. I couldn't turn this function off and as a consequence I accelerated into corners! Overall it was a pleasant experience and I would be tempted to upgrade to one.

The screen will take a bit of learning but it’s a decent size and has a lot of great features. The 360 cameras are also a great feature
Follow-up · Boot space obviously not as deep as my Camry but I still have lots of room for my groceries. Had a walking aid in there and it fit. Economy is ok I get a lot more miles out of a tank. Parking is very easy with all the cameras and I particularly like the view from the top which allows you to see if you have parked the car in the centre of a car space

can be quite distracting and dangerous trying to work out how to change stations when you are driving and it sticks like this on a station.

The most impressive feature here is the Toyota Hybrid set-up. The car prioritises fuel efficiency over everything else. Meaning it'll try and keep the engine off for as long as possible before needing to engage it to provide more power and recharge that small battery.
It's quiet to ride around in, making it a great place to zone out to music, phone calls or podcasts. The soft suspension and higher ride height disconnects you from the road...in a good way. That means the car feels more comfortable than a traditional hatchback and a little less 'darty'.
The rear seat room is certainly better than a Corolla, but it isn't better than a RAV4. It's hard to choose between the two cars as their dimensions are largely the same.
I wasn't a fan of fact that Toyota wants you to subscribe to their online package to get navigation in your car. But don't worry, using Apple CarPlay is free.
It's the car you choose with your head and not your heart. It's a watered down driving experience for those seeking any engagement. However, it feels planted and firm on the road, and can handle sweeping turns with composure but without much feedback.
For those looking for something a little more visually appealing, you can opt for the upcoming CH-R (but you will be sacrificing interior space). And if you want a slightly larger SUV, you can opt for the RAV4. But if you're looking for the goldilocks solution in your search for a reliable and fuel efficient SUV, the Corolla Cross Hybrid is hard to beat.

Worth the 15 month wait – I do big drives as I live regionally but commute to a city for work at least 3-4 times a week. On average, I'd say I do 600km a week. handle taking on sharp bends and accelerate out very quickly and just importantly (or even more so) had to be fuel efficient. I'm so so so pleased to say that the Corolla Cross does all of this and more. The safety tech is just incredible. I had initially been cynically expecting an annoying beeping system that I would sigh in long-suffering annoyance and then spend hours trying to turn the noise off. The Toyota Safety Sense has not done this at all; in fact, it's incredibly subtle and clever, giving a gentle guiding hand when I most appreciate it - lane keep assist around a bend is an amazing feat in any car. The Adaptive Cruise Mode is also really useful on the highway, measuring the distance betwen cars and slowing/increasing speed to suit - a wonderful tool to ease driver fatigue. If you're reading this, you are likely to be curious about fuel economy. While the official number is 4.3L/100Km, this is probably based on the optimised EV mode if the car was based in the city. In my case, I'm a realist and thought anything under 5.5L/100Km would be reasonable. I was wrong. After 1200km, driving highways and a mountain range at an altitude of 800m above sea level, it is giving me 5.2-5.3L/100km. As I run the car in within the next few months, I'm fully expecting for this figure to go down slightly. I think anyone driving a small to mid-spec SUV would agree that the figure here is shockingly economical. The quality standards expected of Toyota are all here in this SUV. The build is excellent. There is a little bit of noise vibration harshness when it goes through rough country roads, but it's minimal and I'd challenge any other car to have more dampening than that on the suspension - I doubt if you'd miss AWD on this Atmos version. There has been general concensus amongst professional reviewers that the interior is a bit basic. For a car that is just sub-$50K, I think this is a good point. There is a lot of piano black and hard scratchy plastics. I'm not entirely sure whether the leather seats are actually pure leather; certainly the supposed leather-clad steering wheel feels a bit thin. While the transition between the electric engine and petrol engine is seamless and quiet, you'll really hear that Toyota roar with the CVT once you press pedal to the metal: that e-CVT is hard to ignore. But it makes up for it for being generally a quiet ride, especially when it's on ePower and creeps out of parking lots and in between shopping centres in the city. Apple Car Play is working seamlessly for me. Note that I live regionally and the multimedia system still manages to connect instantaneously for me. I've yet to master the Hey Toyota voice commands but I think I'll figure it out in time. I am loving having my playlists on Apple Music available straightaway. Also, I've been using the Toyota Connect app on these humid summer days; I'm getting a huge kick out of starting my car via the app and getting into a nice cool car as soon as I unlock the car. The configuration of the car - 5 seater and space is perfect for myself and husband. We are only a two-people family and average sized. It feels roomy and spacious but not too big, or too small. I really wanted a good boot space however and this variant of the Atmos has 410L, which is perfect for my mid-week shops and business needs e.g. laptop bags etc. It helps that the boot can be opened remotely with your foot or fob. The driver seat is a delight. As you can imagine, I drive a lot so the supportive eletronic adjustment for lumbar support and height is really appreciated and works a treat for my poor tired legs at the end of the day. The passenger seat is fine, but is only manual with no height adjustment. This is pretty poor for the price you're payng. Really, I could go on and on. I waited 15 months for the car and during the wait, bitterly regretted falling in love during the test drive. I kept the faith, despite flirting with a Hyundai and a Honda SUV during the time. I was convinced to stay the distance by asking for another test drive in the last three months, which the dealership was very accommodating. God knows how long the wait times are now. I ordered this at a regional car dealership about a month after it debuted in October 2022. So was it worth the wait? Hell, yeah!

special feature. For example, if you press the Hold button. You can put in drive and take the foot pedal off and the car won’t move forward till you accelerate. I really like this feature around school pick up and busy carpark.
Other special features; PCS: pre collision system where the car determine the front end vehicle interaction and it will brake. You can preset the distance to your needs.
LTA: Lane tracing assist mainly for cruise control and on freeways
LDA: Lane departure alert where you may be having an off day and veer off within your lane
RSA: road assign assist mainly road speed, this one I hate, I feel like I am trap in big brother is watching you. As this recorded on the Connect App and the Blavkvue.
There are other, but I do like the arrays of parking sensors, parking is now much more noisy and easy in a sense of not interacting with other objects.
The best safety features of all I would say would be the SOS and ACN automatic collision notifications
The next part is a tricky one, connecting multimedia to your phone. I found the manual is hopeless, it does not explained as well as YouTube by other content creator. Using iPhone is easier to connect then android. Once the mobile device is connected to the Cross multimedia everything is so easy to operate. If your data permit you can even stream your contents.
My kids loved the voice command, however it can only done by either driver and the front passenger. The driver have total control of the system, the front passenger can control only their side.
The interior of the Cross is small, the backseat are not comfortable for tall people. Boot space is ok more like a standard car if you don’t fold the seats.
The handling of the Cross is excellent, it is easy to drive and very quiet on the road and freeways. With new vehicle you get free Toyota Connect, after a period there will be a subscription fee, so far I have not use the car for a remote start or sounding the horns to locate your car.
So far we driven 400 km and the fuel tank is only half, not bad at all. We won’t know u til a few more tanks. With Connect App you get automatic 4c discount from Ampol.
Our Cross cost us $48k, with BlackVue and paint protection. The delay in delivery cost us $900 for increase in government stamp duty.

and park assist features. Dash set up is terrific. You can have 3 different dashes with many different options on each dash. A good way to help improve your driving. A few Cons: Buttons for power windows on drivers door are slightly raised and when you rest your arm on door armrest it is easy to open windows without knowing. Need to check when you park that you haven't wound down windows. Lots of alarms and beeping going off and it is difficult to find what some of them mean i.e. what is it warning you of? Even salesman and service dept couldn't work out one of them. Auto tailgate function only works occasionally. When it works it will work a few times then it stops again and won,t work for a while. They haven't been able to fix it yet. If you have to fit rear facing baby seat it leaves you no room for a passenger in the front. Front passenger seat has to be almost against dash. Overall, I am very happy with this car. My first Hybrid vehicle and am very pleased with it so far. Toyota build quality is excellent. Fuel economy is amazing.

months, as I saw many people waiting in excess of 12 months for delivery.
I chose the Hybrid AWD, as I like the twin electric motors & the independent rear suspension (Vs the torsion beam suspension on the FWD versions). I can report that the ride & handling are very good, with excellent bump absorption. This is maintained with 4 adults on board. Though not a sports car, the acceleration has never left me wanting more performance when joining 110 kph expressways or passing cars on the open road. The electric motors on the front & rear axles certainly make for very quick & strong throttle response, both off the line & at higher speeds. Fuel economy is sitting at 5.6 l/100km, which should improve as the car runs in. This is with about 70% highway & 30% suburban driving. The car is very smooth & quiet around town, but there is a fair amount of tyre noise at speeds over 100 kph (though there is no problem listening to the excellent JBL sound system or having a conversation, on the highway). There are no rattles or squeaks, The adaptive cruise control is excellent, maintaining the set distance to the car in front & braking/accelerating smoothly when speeds change. This, combined with the very good lane keeping assist, reduces a lot of highway cruising fatigue.
The full digital dashboard & multimedia center screen are very clear & responsive, though you will need to consult the owner's manual often, until you become familiar with all of the menus/options. The seats are very comfortable & supportive, though only the driver's seat has electric adjustment (a sign of cost cutting?). Another feature that many other car brands supply, seat cooling, is missing here. I also miss a 'Head up Display'. These things should be standard on a top of the line model, especially with the price increases since covid. I really like the panoramic moon roof, which lightens up the rather dark, mostly black interior. I wish that we could get some of the lighter colour combinations that are available overseas. The boot space is ok & adequate for a small family, though there is no spare tyre in the AWD Corolla Cross (FWD models get a space saver spare).
This car is ideal for my partner & I (retired couple), just the right size, easy to drive & park. The fuel economy is great & the fixed servicing costs are low $250.00/ service. I am happy to recommend the Corolla Cross ATMOS Hybrid AWD!
