No issues – Solid car and good for use everywhere. I couldn’t do without my kluger! Show details
Love my car! – Spacious, smooth to drive, economical, the back boot seats (7 seats) are still spacious and when they are folded down the boot is huge, perfect for road trips and everyday life. Love my kluger Show details
Perfect for long trips, extremely comfortable – Just been to Ingham and back for Christmas 5461 kilometres, averaged 7.84 litres / 100 kilometres, very pleased. The car has done 36000 kilometres now. I paid the extra for the Grande, leather seats , heating and cooling, very comfortable. First petrol car I’ve owned in 12 years. Great motor , been around for a long time. Plenty of room, carry my… Read more
Engel fridge, working when car is going. Get the car serviced at Toyota, no problems at all, most kilometres I’ve done in any car I’ve owned, fabulous.
Inferior technology – The adaptive cruise control on my latest Kluger cannot hold the speed even on slightly sloppy roads. I tried with other brand cars, and it is doing a petty good job. Contacted Toyota, and they connected the computer to the car and said everything was as per the design, so looks like they got inferior technologies compared to other cars and pretend… Read more
to be the best in the mark with premium pricing. And also happy to mention that I got my first speeding fine in my life because I trusted Totota in the first place :-) .
Slightly outdated nowadays, but safe, strong, comfortable and reliable – After our faithful 1991 Nissan Patrol (petrol/lpg 4.2 litre) blew its head gasket at 430,000kms (we'd owned it for 25 years and towed a caravan over East 4 times), in August 2021 we replaced it with a 2015 Kluger GXL AWD purchased privately from it's original owner. It had a complete service record and had done 99,000kms, always running on 98RON… Read more
petrol. I did a huge amount of research before buying the car, and my biggest concern was the frequent reports of bad city/suburban fuel economy. Mind you, we had put up with 25 litres per 100km on LPG in the Patrol for 25 years!). Toyota says the official combined average fuel economy is 10.6 litres per 100km. For us, 11-12 is achievable, maybe 12.5 with air con operating, however with sedate driving we do occasionally achieve 10.6. On country runs, we regularly achieve 8.2 to 8.5 litres per 100kms. So, our experience regarding fuel economy has been great for such a big car. It is smooth and quiet, easy to manoeuvre, and the quasi leather seats are comfortable, practical, and the cabin is spacious. Storage is well thought-out. The window tinting is quite dark and affords privacy. The dual control air con in the front, and separate controls for the second row seats is great, and the vents go all the way to the third row seats. There is massive rear luggage space with the two rear seats folded into the floor. We like the side steps on our Kluger. Service quotes from Toyota are sadly significantly higher than other service centres. I don't really like the canister oil filter cartridge set-up, but bought the official Toyota canister removal tool, which makes doing my own oil changes a breeze. Never be tempted to skimp on oil and filter changes, and always use good quality oil. You can save a lot of $$$ if you do the oil changes yourself, once the car is out of its warranty period. We've done 13,000km in 1 year of ownership, and are exceptionally happy with our purchase.
Best family-SUV – Exactly the type of car I wanted. Very spacious, drives smoothly, minimum noise and vibration, soft suspension with extremely comfortable drive. love beige light coloured interior, which is a rarity cars. Many useful and handy features, No complains at all. Best family car. Show details
Good vehicle but – This is a nice vehicle to drive, very spacious, smooth and fast for an SUV. Fuel consumption is ok but not brilliant around town. For a base model you get enough to keep you happy. Toyota reliability went out the door under warranty, full $8000 auto replacement. Toyota fixed it so it says volumes for Toyota. Klugers are made in the US now, not… Read more
Japan and it shows, probably accounts for the transmission. Services are not cheap if you use the dealers and follow logbook schedules. The car has done 100000 kms and has had front rotors replaced, automatic never failed, just developed a clonk which wasn’t normal.
Great family car – Pros: Nice to drive Spacious Powerful engine Good list of safety features Good looking Popular, so better resale value Cons: High fuel consumption around 13.1l/100km update 2022 March 12.8l/100km Frequency of service every 6 MTHS or 10k Cabin dashboard display a bit dated compared with rivals Update 3/22 Still no apple play or Android auto Show details
There's a reason you see them everywhere! – We were in the market for a larger family car which had 7 seats and a petrol engine. After looking around we found the Kluger to be the best fit what we needed. We have owned the vehicle for 9 months and I have no regrets about the purchase. We can easily fit 3 car seats and the kids have alot of legroom in the second row. Fuel economy around… Read more
town is a little average at about 15 L/100kms but that can be expected with a heavy car.
Fuel economy on the highway has surprised me though, getting down to as low as 8 L/100km.
Dumped it within the first year – Underpowered, under optioned, uneconomical, worst car I have ever owned and couldn’t wait to get rid of it before it’s one year anniversary. Dealer couldn’t even provide matching floor mats. Show details
The Seats are a real big disappointment, The Dealership was not very helpful after the deal was signed – Paid $69000 for a brand new Kluger Grande 2019 model, the driver seat has all the adjustments but the passenger seat don't have any except for forward and backwards, The wife and me bought the car together but sadly she will never have the same comfort level... (Better not tell her about this) Paid extra for the Grand model thinking were getting… Read more
more but not so, the car looks old fashioned inside and gets dusty on the dash very quickly for no reason, there is nothing in the car that says grande..
The steering wheel gets sweaty pretty quickly, (Don't know why they didn't use punched leather here to absorb the sweat) the side mirrors cannot curve in when parked in a tight spot. The rear loading section is not flat, is angled at about 15 degrees and is stupid because now we cannot sleep in the rear..
The engine is sometimes non responsive when needed and extremely heavy on fuel.... (What happened to Global Warming and Sustainable / Renewable manufacturing practices?? do we real'y need such a big engine?? The USB port is sooo hard to locate, took 3 months to find, (Just one port.. 4 Phones between the kids the wife and me, the rear seats are horrible uncomfortable, they can'not even fold right back.. No Bump protectors on the large doors, the sun visors don't even cover the full length of the door if used sideways..
No ventilation in the large armrest (vanity box, between the 2 seats), also no light in there, i can put my grandma in there and never find her again..
The rear roof mounted DVD is way to close, hurts your eyes.. No mute button on the steering or radio, the electronics in general, RADIO, GPS and ALL software on the LED screen is hard to use and feels outdated...
The constant BEEP BEEP of the rear door when opened is driving my nabours nuts, (the salesman said ho dont worry we can turn that off but afterwards found out its not so, you cannot turn the stupid thing off ..grrrr
There is not enough light in the boot, little light on the side is nothing but laughable.. The whole boot section has loose pieces of plastic covers just sitting there until you hit the UN sealed roads, then the fun begins..
Cant believe i was so stupid to buy this car.. the sunroof dont close by itself when the rain comes (like all the competitors models) While driving you wouldn't know if the sunroof is open because there is noting telling you.. so much for a GRANDE.. heheheheh (We demand more for the money please)
The list goes on and on, the car is not worth $69000 is not even worth 40 000 the new Hyundai is a much much better car for much much less, Don't be caught out like me, Ill never drive a Toyota after this.. Right' who want to buy my car, im going back to Hyundai where clients are respected and the product represents fair value.... Those Japanese went too far this time, they took me money and is selling rubbish to customers.... Good luck fat cats.. We need more new' car competition in Australia.. (Lets not talk about their Utes, nobody can fit into the cabs anymore (too small inside) Lots more to say but my word count is up..
Nearly excellent – A great all round car. I would have given it a 5 stars if only it tech was updated to meet it competitors. They need to introduce apple car play to get the rating. But I am lead to believe they will offer an upgrade soon. Show details
Classy, beautiful and reliable – Very reliable classy car for all your daily commutes. It has every function you need. Smooth running. Attractive and everyone comments on that with you. Strong safe but cosy. Service program is well organised. Show details

Know better, choose better.
The car I said I would never buy – i have just bought a Kluger, the car I said I would never buy- but I am glad I did. My deal breaker on a new car was a full size spare tyre- that gets rid of about 80% of the possibilities. Having owned 4WDs for most of my life, Including most recently a 120 series Prado, I realised that I had not done any serious off-roading for a long time, nor… Read more
was I likely to. But I still wanted reliability, room to move and that full size spare- enter Kluger. A good looking car these days especially in Crystal Pearl and enough mumbo to make highway travel a breeze. The recent update has the Kluger swarming with safety feature. The only one I am not sure about is adaptive cruise control.
Early days but this is very easy to live with.
Amazing family car – I use this car mainly for family transport, my everyday car. It has cotton service once as we just purchased it just over 6 months now which Toyota does every 6 months Show details
LOVE this beautiful vehicle! – After owning an older 2005 Kluger we definitely needed an upgrade! Even though we loved our old Kluger we still test drove every 7 seater 4WD/AWD in our price range, just to see if there was anything that was now better. But the new Kluger GXL came out head & shoulders above the rest! It was by far the most spacious inside and handled the road… Read more
better than the rest.
And a year later we’re still of the same opinion!! It’s fantastic! An absolutely beautiful car to drive, amazing open road fuel economy compared to our old Kluger, and handles everything we’ve thrown at it with ease!
It’s so spacious inside and our 4 children (2 of whom are now young adults plus 2 tall teenage boys) fit perfectly with the 3rd row seats up!
Huge boot space, quiet to drive, loads of power and copes well when we take it off-road.
Love all the extras that came with our GXL too - seat warmers, keyless smart entry & start system, great reversing camera, alloys, leather interior, 3 zone climate control, fantastic sat nav system on an 8” screen, dynamic torque control, active cruise control & my favourite - the automatic boot!
My only gripes would be that the front passenger seat on the GXL model no longer has electric seat adjustment (our 2005 mid range model did!) plus the front seat headrests are a tad uncomfortable - this was easily fixed though by removing them and turning them backwards.
All in all this car is outstanding! It wasn’t cheap ... but for a car that looks classy inside and out it’s been a great buy!
Good Car, solid engine, but missing key features – Had one of these as a hire car, only 6 months old with 10,000kms on it. The AWD version. The good. : Rides well, lots of power and good on fuel. The inclusion of adaptive cruise and lane guidance are great features to see toyota finally adopting. The average: The styling is typical toyota blandness , lacks any real quality feel or style.… Read more
The entertainment system has no car play or any real function beyond basic blue tooth and radio functions. The usb doesn't even charge your phone as it doesn't provide enough power to keep it up to speed. Seats average comfort , but not heated or cooled seats, and no lane avoidance features, makes others like Jeep look like better options. No auto wipers but auto lights... good they got one thing right.
The annoying: Constant beeping of the lane system made me want to hit it, the 1-2 minutes of it trying to connect to blue tooth each time you start the car, and the use of the awful stalk for the cruise system, and a left pedal manual handbrake feels like a 10 year old after thought.
Overall it could be a good package, but toyota have just features out that are standard on others for the price.
Fantastic car!! – I’m absolutely in love with the 2018 kluger!!! I had it on hire for a month or two a few months ago and I must say it’s by far the most fancy four wheel drive I’ve ever driven. I’d highly recommend it to anybody with a large family as they have fold away back extra seats as well!! Show details
Amazing! – Smooth drive and very well thought of interior! The purchasing process was made extremely easy through Patterson Cheney Dandenong. The Kluger is very spacious and great for long drives. I would highly recommend the Kluger to anyone who has a large family or owns dogs. The middle console is my favourite due to the large space it provides. Show details
