Poor performance – Range for 5g won't even get 5meters. Got given this modem to solve internet dropping out continuously 2.4 won't connect to security cameras. Internode internet still drops out. Guess it's time to change.

Terrible – Junk. Didnt last 18 months before failing. Was ok for 12 months and then the Band Steering stopped working properly and showed 5G. It forced many connections to 2.4 and the speed was really variable. Forcing the 5G connections to 5G helped for a bit and then I had to switch it off totally. No big deal but annoying. Then it decided that upload… Read more

was optional and its now zero on speedtest or fails the test totally.

Cheap rubbish that cant last out the Australian statutory warranty period, not that TPG will replace it since Ive left them.

Avoid at all costs.

Worst Router, absolute garbage – Absolutely pathetic piece of garbage, TPG should be disgusted in themselves providing this absolutely horrendous, incapable and unreliable router.I have rung TPG several time regarding this, but they don't care, cheap service with cheap products. Stay away from this router if you want to maintain your sanity. Show details

Terrible – Purchased from Dodo when joining and have had nothing but trouble with connectivity and range. Always dropping out. Has difficulty connecting with more than 1 device at a time and range is less than half of what we received with our Telstra modem. Show details

Very poor range – Very poor range. I have had to buy an extender to compensate. Better to pay more and get a decent router in the first place. Show details

No range – I live in a small 2 bedroom unit and this can't even provide Wi-Fi from one end to the other. This is shockingly bad. It hasn't dropped out in the two weeks that I've had it, it was easy to set up, but the range is incredibly bad. Show details

Poor Product – Similar to another review, I received this router as a replacement to an old router from TPG when I upgraded to fiber to the home. Unfortunately since installation the coverage is worse to the point some devices have issues with signal strength or cannot connect, and signal strength fluctuates. In a single story house with the router well… Read more

placed, this should not be an issue. By the products own description, this router should cover the house without any issues. Contact with TP Link support yielded no benefit as their suggestion was to go and buy a Wi-Fi extender. With a router that promises so much, unfortunately this product has some serious deficiencies that should not require the owner to then have to purchase an additional product.

Poor wifi range and frequent drop-outs – This Modem replaced a Huawei modem that had much better range in my house, but promised higher security levels. Recently it has started to drop out and would not connect easily to wireless devices, especially a laptop computer close by. TPG has apparently standardised on this modem so My dilemma is whether to change providers who offer a better… Read more

Wifi connection in house restored – I have been working for hours to restore my TP Management access to the router. When I finally made contact with Mona Shan she patiently discussed the problem and started to provide me with assistance to resolving the issue. Mona provided me with an option (Default password) which to get into the router which is not listed anywhere else. This resolved the problema nd my internet/wifi set up in the house is now back operating as expected. Show details ·  1

Works well, but cable entry is annoying – A 4 port router, 2.4 and 5GHz wifi access point and a NBN modem. All the things you'd expect in a modern device. The 4 port router is great, allowing me to run multiple switches in different locations, wifi has a decent range and the WAN connection appears quite stable. I purchased this from my ISP as a replacement for a Technicolor unit that had… Read more

expired. The Technicolor unit was wall-mounted in a linen cupboard, as it's the centre of the house for wifi signal purposes.

When the VX220-G2V arrived and I unpacked it I saw the cables are rear entry. That basically makes it impossible to wall mount. Lo-and-behold, wall mount slots in the back of the (curved) unit. I could see a great deal of thought had gone into that one!

I've had to put a stack of LPs in the linen cupboard to let the modem sit on top of. Not idea, not even (in my mind) really acceptable, but TP-Link don't make a wall-mount kit for this thing. It'll have to stay like that until it needs to be replaced, and it WILL NOT be with another TP-Link.
