TP-Link Deco BE65 V2
Verified3 reviews
Feedback and Review: TP-Link Deco BE65 (BE11000) with TPG ISP I purchased the TP-Link Deco BE65 (BE11000) Mesh Router system in October 2025. Unfortunately, my ISP is TPG, and the Deco units would not connect directly to the internet through the NBN box. This issue is not new—users have reported the same problem as far back as mid-2024 and January 2025. Given this history, it is disappointing that technical support from both TPG and TP-Link could not provide a working solution immediately, and even more concerning that TP-Link claimed I was the only person to report this problem. This is demonstrably untrue, as multiple forums document the issue.
Positive Experience
TP-Link Support: High marks for their patience and willingness to spend hours troubleshooting with me. Their commitment was evident.
Negative Experience
TP-Link Support Knowledge Gap: Despite their effort, TP-Link did not have the correct solution ready. The fix ultimately came from user forums, not official support.
TPG Support: Low marks. Their priority seemed to be closing the ticket rather than resolving the problem.
Solution Found (via user forums)
TPG Settings: ISP connection type = PPPoE, VLAN ID = 2. The Deco firmware shipped without proper PPPoE support for TPG.
Temporary Fix: Connect Deco to the old ISP-provided router and set Internet Connection Type to Dynamic. This allows the Deco to access the internet. Firmware Update: Upgrade to the latest firmware (mine: 1.2.0 Build 20250718). (This can be done via the DECO App).
This update restores PPPoE compatibility for TPG. Final Setup: Connect Deco directly to the NBN box, set Internet Connection Type to PPPoE, and configure VLAN for TPG.
Summary
TP-Link earns credit for their time and effort, but their knowledge base needs updating to reflect known issues.
TPG support was unhelpful and focused on ticket closure rather than problem-solving. The persistence of this issue, despite being widely reported for over a year, is unacceptable.

As having NBN connected to my premises with an FTTP connection, just upgraded the internet to a 1000/50 as the location of the NBN box was not really a good position as its a very long way and there is no threaded cable to run the connection to the house adequately from the garage, so researched a bit for the best performing device i can use. So bought the TP-Link deco be11000 and wow, I am really impressed
Through walls, with a lot of what can be considered interfering objects for wifi signal, I get really close to a wired connection speed, i mean this is 20mtres or more with objects and walls in the way, metallic objects - Over 900mbs, it does fluctuate a bit but this is very impressive to say the least
The device looks nice, has 4 ethernet ports so its generous in functionality and comes in a pack of 3, does wifi 6e
Now setting up the device, I wont go into it much, as I am a novice as having to configure the device with the ISP settings direct to NBN box, Took a learning curve as never done this before and for someone who fully knows what they are doing then they would most likely completed it like a breeze, the app is very easy to navigate and I really do give this device a full approval and highly recommend it - this is for a larger type of home
The retail price is 1099 and due to centrecom having a sale, I managed to get it for 1049, so that was good, with free delivery
Follow-up · The routher is brilliant - it fluctuates in speed, due to distance and well happy with the overall performance of the router
Follow-up · I still stand with original review I had some hiccups with the 1st device, it disconnected and refused to to hook up again, was still under warranty and got replaced, so thats good in regards to customer service and backing your product, I think cause of the age they swapped it with the current model of this device, which was little bit better ports at the back Its tricky to set up, if you directly plug into modem then its easy but if you go to turn this into the direct one, then its a little bit trickier due to settings you have to do. The app is good, it allows control over the device I wish NBN however installed the NBN box where I wanted as where they placed that, I have no option but this for the wifi - I would have preferred not having wifi, to what I know now, it can be used to spy on people, would rather have wired connection - to many devices now are becoming intrusive, such as smart TV's sending screen shots of what ever is on your screen whether it be content from the tv or even your personal computer and its not a question of someone doing right or wrong, its intrusive, you use a PC and have personal banking details, or personal emails - these SMART should not be allowed to send personal information or be used to spy on people - wifi can do visual recordings of people inside premises and its very plausible that bad actors on the businesses or even someone working a way to hack the content. It is a fantastic mesh router though, it does the job and provides good quality internet around for distances - soon as I am able I will then do a hard wired system around though
Extremely difficult set up, even then couldn't set it up as it is meant to be and so can't use all features of device – Purchased from JB Hi-Fi in January 2025. I had an existing TP-Link modem-router plugged into NBN box. Despite more than 5 hours of technical support with TP-Link and my ISP (TPG), nobody could get the device to work. In then end I am only able to use the device in access point mode by connecting it into my old modem. I am technologically pretty savvy, I have seen many forums where people are having the exact same problem, nobody has come up with a solution. Now using in access mode you can't use a bunch of features. With regard to it working a mesh wi-fi, it is working seamlessly, so I will give it 2 stars. I am able to achieve internet speeds at the maximum 100Mbps that my current plan is capped across our entire property which is 390sqm.
