Twinings French Earl Grey

What a horrible artificial vanilla tasting concoction. When I buy tea I expect a natural product. This means from now on I have to analyse anything I buy from Twinning's. My daughter tasted it and laughed offering me a taste of a T2 tea in her hand. This box of tea goes straight in the bin, a waste of money. Sadly I am now questioning the excellent T2 French earl grey which apparently has some artificial bergamot.
Have to agree with most others - the hint of vanilla is so overpowering it is almost undrinkable. Really disappointed as French Earl Grey is my favourite tea. Their chai with a hint of vanilla is just as bad.
I recently bought the new French Earl Grey, excited for a nice, budget-friendly tea. Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment—it went straight into the sink. The vanilla is far too strong, and the bergamot—the key flavour in any Earl Grey—is… Read more
completely missing. I’m surprised this blend was released. It makes me wonder if proper tasting trials were done, or if anyone involved still drinks real tea. I also have an unopened box of Lady Grey, but after this experience, I’m hesitant to try it and may re-gift it to someone else.
Follow-up · I sent my feedback to Twinings Australia directly, and their reply was to ask what I’d like to receive for free. That wasn’t my point or intention, so I’ve politely declined their offer.
So excited to purchase this tea from Coles today, well how disappointed was I it’s vanilla smell and flavour was over powering and quite frankly undrinkable..French earl grey it is not. Lucky it was on special didn’t feel bad about throwing it in the bin Show details
Twinings French Earl Grey - too much Vanilla – I purchased this new Twinings French Earl Grey, with a hint of Vanilla Tastes more like Vanilla with a dash of Earl Grey. I like Twinings, however this new Earl Grey and the old Earl Grey have lost the Bergamot taste. So disappointing. !!! Show details
Like sipping vanilla sugar water – Advertised on packet as ‘French earl grey’. Smaller writing mentions a hint of vanilla. The vanilla flavoured tea is overpoweringly vanilla. This is because after black tea it is the second largest ingredient. Very sweet and not even a hint of florals or bergamot could be tasted. It’s going in the bin. Couldn’t even finish the cup. The packet is falsely labelled as French earl grey. Tastes nothing like French Earl Grey. Show details
Awfully disappointed – None in my family could drink this. The taste was not pleasant, oversaturated in vanilla flavour. As a family we had long enjoyed the plain Twinnings Earl Grey Tea and several other more expensive brands of FEG - French Earl Grey. But this Twinnings French Earl Grey was awful, and 5 cups ended down the sink instead of Easter afternoon tea, the pkt… Read more
will go in the bin. We thought… maybe there had been an error in formulating the recipe, with 25x vanilla essence? so here’s hoping Twinning’s FEG improves over time , maybe Twinning will heed well intentioned feedback.
