Normally very happy with the product but not this time – Two tuna in jelly pouches were perforated which leaked into box and on to the other pouches which then caused one to gag with the smell. Was purchased at Coles, Mt. Ommaney on today's date. Show details
Never again! – The last two batches of this product, once brought home from the shop, were cut into the individual packets and put in the freezer, and now have been returned to the store. In both cases, the packets swelled alarming, probably with some form of gas released from the product metabolising. The latest product had the expiry date of 18/08/2021 (10… Read more

I am not going to endanger my cat's health feeding her this product, and will never buy this product again, nor recommend it.
Please examine your production line/delivery process closely, something is apparently going wrong, creating contamination.

Do NOT feed this rubbish to your pets – VIP mince for dogs and Fussy Cat for cats has preservative 220 in it. It is harmful to your pet, please do not feed it. It affects their brain. I gave it to my cat who would imagine that things were attacking him and he would bite his tail, when I stopped this food, all his nervous habits went away. He is calm now. I have seen dogs showing nervous symptoms that are fed this food too. If I could give it ZERO stars I would.

My cats love it - Sep 2018 – As at Sep 2018 I don’t have a problem with Fussy Cat. No vomiting or problems I’ve come across with my 2 cats in the last few months at all.
Cat refusing to eat it and the dog too. Update- vouchers offered and next batch of food fine – This has been the only food I have found our newly adopted cat will eat, however, she has refused to eat the latest batch, it smells ok but even our very greedy dog will not eat it. I have emailed VIP pet foods who make this product and am waiting for their response. Hopefully future packets will be edible. updated 17/8 next batch of food is fine and vouchers have been offered from VIP.
My cat loves this, have never had problems with it – My cat loves eating this, he's never vomited from it. I only feed him a small amount, half a packet at the most because my cat tends to eat so fast that he throws up anything he likes eating 20 minutes later. I sometimes use it to mix with other foods he doesn't like eating much or to get him to swallow a tablet. I'm so surprised at all the… Read more
reviews here regarding quality issues, only one of my local supermarkets stock this product, and frequently it is sold out, I've never had any problems at all. I like that it comes in 5 individual packets, it takes me a long time to get through them, so it's good that they remain sealed.

Disgusting Product and Customer Service – Do NOT buy their products unless you want a sick pet or a dead pet. Their customer service is absolutely appalling. My cat got severely ill and had to get veterinary care from eating their cat mince. Lucky he did not die. I would have sued the crap out of this company if he had. Upon contacting them, their response was useless and would not even… Read more
refund me the money I spent on their poison products.
AVOID at all costs!!! I would have rated this -100000 but I had no option but to put a star which they absolutely do not deserve!!
Sickly – what is going on? Our cat has been vomiting and choking the last week. We stopped feeding her fussy cat and then gave it to her again and within the hour she was vomiting and struggling to breathe again. After reading these reviews I'm sure its the food! This is the only wet food she will eat Show details

The other cat refused to touch it. The vomiting cat would not eat for 2 days and has only just started eating soft tin cat food. Show details

Cat loved this has been vomiting and crying lately and vets warned me its due to her food – Cat ate this for years, nice and happy. Lately has been only eating very little but vomiting a lot. Saw the vet, she told me its the food. I hope I've changed quick enough after reading these reviews. I wonder what they changed in it because she used to be so healthy!!!!! Show details
Please don’t feed your cat this toxic food! – I have been feeding my cat the VIP Fussy Cat mince range for about a year now, as he absolutely loves the flavour. He also has a balanced diet of dry food and is only fed 1 portion a day. Recently (the last 5 portions, all from different packets) he has vomited every portion given to him. I’ve tried eliminating the product and feeding him… Read more
alternatives, perhaps thinking a bad batch, only to buy again weeks later with the same result.
After reading product reviews I’m saddened to see this is a common occurance of prolonged use of this range, presumably due to the high level of preservatives but I cannot be certain. It’s horrible to find that when you’re trying to feed your pet a balanced diet from a trusted brand that you could actually be doing them such harm. It’s also mortifying to know that so many people are having the same issue yet the product is still being sold by all major supermarkets.
Will definitely not be using this product again and would advise against anyone else doing so.
This stuff is toxic – We used to feed this to our cat every day but about 2 years ago, he started vomiting and having liquid poos. We then changed it out and went to other products but then decided to come back to this one as it's his favourite. BIG mistake. He is now vomiting everywhere and drinking copious amounts of water. He is also very disoriented and wobbly on his feet. Removing this from his diet immediately. Never again. Show details

Perservative 220 - Sulphur Dioxide deletes thiamine ingestion in cats. AVOID! – https://kb.rspca.org.au/are-preservatives-in-pet-food-products-a-concern_312.html Been feeding our cat this for months only to discover she now has a chronic thiamine deficiency. If you love your cat avoid this product until they take out the 220. Show details
Toxic food – Vomiting, anaphylaxis then dead, yep you read it will see how long this review stay's up, i wouldn't purchase this product or any of them ever again and yes i have proof of my dead kid and my vet bill trying to save another 2. The product just got rebranded its now known as premium steak with a black and white label.
Recent batches making my cat VOMIT! – I have fed this mince to my cat as a treat for almost a year. In the last 2 weeks she has been vomiting it up within an hour. Last night she projectile vomited all over my carpet and was not very happy for several hours after. I mentioned it to a friend who said that she had also had the same experience with her cat, who became very ill after… Read more
eating Fussy Cat pet mince. The vomiting issue resolved once Fussy Cat pet mince was removed from her diet.
Our cat has been sick for months – We have always bought this mince for our cat and about 2-3months ago he started getting sick, vomiting and diarrhea. We brought other dry food at the time and put it down to this, and changed his dry biscuits to a higher end biscuit and he improved for a short time. We had vet visits in between where he was put on different medications and we… Read more
took him off this mince and then slowly began introducing this back into his diet as advised by our vet and then he got sick again. Within 3 hrs of eating this mince he would have explosive diarrhea. in the past we had no problems with this product but something must have changed in the recipe and it is very dangerous for your pets. We have now discontinued all use of this product and have begun giving our cat kangaroo mince sold for human consumption and he is back to full health.
Same with my cats:-( – Unfortunately same with my two old cats. Tried this food because it's supposed to be good for them, but both keep throwing up from it straight after, even after just tiny amount. Why???? What's going on with it???
Not as it used to be – V.I.P. Fussy Cat - was the only brand of cat food my cat would eat ever since she was a kitten, but for the last few moths or so something has changed in the recipe, she has been vomiting so badly after we were feeding her, she gets to her food tray, walks around it and walks away now, so we started feeding her "Whiskas" canned food, which I… Read more
can't stand the smell of and she is not to keen on it either, but at least she doesn't vomit from it. PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD RECIPE!!!!
My cats vomiting after eating your food – I’ve been feeding my cat your food for a few months now, I’ve not changed her drys norr wets an this morning I’ve woken up to vomit everywhere am your cat foods the only thing she’s throwing up
Freeze it – I buy a slab, cut the sections apart and freeze them. I take one out of the freezer as soon as the latest sachet is finished and it thaws overnight, thus stopping them going bad. My cat loves these meat portions as an evening treat as he's on Royal Canin dry food during the day. I only give him a third, to a half a sachet, with a spoonful of water mixed in to make it wetter (easier to swallow) with the chill taken off in the microwave.
can vomits after eating – we have 4 cats and 3 vomit every time I give this to them and the 4th cat gets runny poos.I usually have to break the packet up and feed them small amounts at a time thinking this may stop the vomiting but no.So we have gone back to canned and dry food.

Makes my cat vomit – My cat seems to love this food, but I've noticed every time she eats it it makes her vomit and not just once . I just thought it was coincidence, so I've brought one more packet and again she's vomiting. I will not buy this product again nor would I recommend it .
Our cat became very ill after eating the mince! – Our cat normally eats dry and canned wet food and we purchased the "VIP petfoods Fussy Cat mince with Chicken" as a treat for him as we heard raw foods contains more nutrients. A week into introducing this mince into his diet, he started vomiting and stopped eating altogether. We had to rush him to emergency and he was hospitalised for an entire… Read more
week. His blood test results showed very high liver enzyme levels which my vet said is caused by toxins and resulted in acute liver failure. He is still very sick but luckily he is stable and in recovery. Our cat was a very healthy indoor cat, and he is very well looked after, he does not normally eat anything we don't feed him and have not done any chemical pest control around the home. The only change prior to the incident was the Fussy cat mince we purchased one week before he became very ill, after discussion with our vet, she strongly suspect there are additives /preservatives in those mince (such as sulfur) to keep them fresh. In fact I should have noticed that the mince looked almost too fresh for something that has been in a fridge after week (and still well inside used by date). Normal fresh mince would easily go off in 3 days if it was kept in the fridge alone.
Please for the sake of your pets, listen to other pet owners here, be very careful before buying this pet food for your cat, it has been a very stressful ordeal for our cat, not to mention the expensive bills and emotional toll seeing our cat in pain.
Hit and miss ! – I agree with other comments that I have to throw away as much as I use. I now read all " use by" dates and don't buy anything under 3 weeks packaging and can still get a bad batch ! My cats love this food when it's not rotten ... they won't eat it if it's going "off". I have contacted VIP about the problems I have had and they just send me… Read more
refund vouchers. I really would rather just consistency in their product ! Storage factors at supermarkets can add to the product going rotten quickly. Watch out for "puffy" satchets.

get to our butcher that day. I would have rathered not feed them that arfternoon. Terrible and expensive lesson to learn, if you love your animals don't feed them this food, always get quality fresh foods direct from your butcher!
only thing my cat eats – My neighbour got me onto this. My fussy cat who has actually purposely removed chicken and sardines from his bowl loves this food.I only feed him the mince meat version though. It works out a better price than the small brand name canned foods which are the only other thing he will eat. The people whinging the meat is grey , that is the… Read more
supermarkets fault , you can see with your own eyes if the meat is grey,i only buy the meat if it is a nice red and go for the reddest packet.
Lots of highs and lows – I have been buying VIP Fussy cat satchels for about 5 years with varying success - when its good its very good but when its bad its rotten - we have wasted hundreds of dollars on throw aways - we have 8 cats and as you can imagine thats a lot of mince we go through per day. I only buy VIP I when it looks red and delicious - not grey and no… Read more
blood or puffing out of the pack - all well sealed - yesterday I bought 4 packs straight out of a new box brought out to me by one of the supermarket staff - I opened one as soon as i got home for my hungry hoard of cats - the smell of rotten eggs was revolting and overpowering!! I then opened one satchel from each of the other 3 packs and it was all the same I have had to throw away the 4 packs I bought today and I had no food for our cats!! Not Happy!
I rated this as a 1 yesterday but updated my review due to the following which sums up our experience with VIP - lots of highs and lows.
My husband went to another supermarket in the same chain this morning and bought 3 more which are all fine and our cats are loving it - I cannot work out why this product is so inconsistent - just when we start to trust again we get hit with bad batches.
Doesn't matter which supermarket its bought from the problem is across all suppliers - perhaps a frozen product would last longer. I will be returning future bad batches for a refund. Please fix this.
Cat loves the mince but has stated vomiting it up every time she eats it – My cat loves the fussy cat mince meat but has stated to vomit it up as soon as she finishes eating it. If I feed her biscuits or canned fish she has no problem. I think I am going to have to change her diet

A big improvement – Several years ago, I wrote a review giving this product one star. That was because over a period of several months, almost every pack purchased was rotten and had to be returned to the store. After reading my review, VIP's customer service team contacted me to say that they had changed the way that they pack the meat, which had resolved the… Read more
quality issues. So after avoiding buying the product for a few months, I did try it again. My cat enjoyed it. Since then - about 3 and a half years ago- I've been buying this product once per month, and never had any issues with it. My cat has polished this off every time and nagged for more.
Out of fairness to V.I.P. I decided to write this new review. There's no doubt that the quality of this product has improved significantly, so my new 4 star rating reflects that.
MADE OUR CATS VIOLENTLY ILL – We were long term customers of this product, having fed it to our two burmese cats for over 5 years. Recently, we found that whenever we fed any of these varieties to our cats they were violently ill. Not simple regurgitation cats sometimes have when they eat, but continuous vomiting that started 5 minutes after eating. They vomited on the kitchen… Read more
floor, persian carpets, the fixed carpets, down the hall way, on the lounge until they had nothing to bring up but bile. When we fed them canned food, they were perfectly well. I re-challenge with new batches of Fussy Cat (well within their expiry date) but it caused the same violent vomiting reaction. I reached out to the company with my concerns and they didn't even bother to reply. As a consequence I will never buy this product again, we have switched to another brand of fresh meat, available at PetBarn and the cats are perfectly well (and happy!).
VIP PLEASE LISTEN – I have read the Vip answers to the reviews and to me they appear to be full of self serving justifications and they seem to feel the problems lie with the consumers not the company.I note that like me most purchasers have simply disposed of the faulty packs It might be time for us to vote with our feet and return the packs to the place of purchase… Read more
for a refund this would give the company an overview of the real problem afflicting a once great product
Avoid this cat food like the plague! – My cats have had the VIP Fussy Cat - the prime steak mince and the mince with chicken - quite regularly in the past. Over the last few months it has been making them ill, and by ill I mean vomiting multiple times, over the carpets, over the bedspreads, all across the tiled floor. My piggish cat (eats anything) starts vomiting within 3 meters of… Read more
her bowl. My more fussy cat only ate a little, begrudgingly, and then vomited, and since then simply won't touch it.
There is something in this food that is doing this. Either that, or the supermarkets are not keeping it correctly stored. I'm always careful to check the expiry dates; I make sure I choose packs that look a good colour and whose seals aren't swollen.
After the first vomiting sessions, I avoided serving up this food for a few nights and gave them other types of food. No problem. A vet checked them and said they were healthy. Tried the food again, and once again, vomiting, upstairs, downstairs. It is the VIP Fussy Cat food that is doing it. Nothing else upsets them. Every time they've had it over the last couple of months (tried on odd occasions) the food is immediately vomited up. I've wasted so much money on this rubbish as I have to toss the leftover pouches away, plus I always add some good quality tinned food to the saucer and that comes up along with the VIP meat, so more $$ wasted. (When they have the tinned food on its own, which is now most nights, they love it and it doesn't make them sick.)
Finally I spoke to someone at VIP and she suggested it might have been a one-off and to more or less feel confident in buying it again. After a few weeks I decided to give it a go again, but exactly the same thing happened. .There are so many people experiencing exactly the same thing that there has to be something wrong with this food! Something very wrong! Don't buy it, causing your cat to suffer isn't nice, and cleaning cat vomit out of carpets isn't fun.
