Fab folding ebike for lowest price and great service from Mytopia – I puchased the Valk Volt 20" folding ebike, from Mytopia 10mths ago. It is a fantastic bike for me and for the very low price. I had some issues that Mytopia could not do enough to assist me with, more than great service, thanks Maxine. Yes I have chosen to upgrade my seat and upgrade brake calipers at my choice. Still half the cost of any… Read more ·  2

competing brand. The only complaint I get is people complaining to me the light is "hell bright". Thanks to all for being good to me and giving me the joy of a great e bike and more riding fun.

You get what you pay for – Hard seat, once folded pedals dent mudguard. I had a faulty battery on purchase and sent many emails to company where I purchased (mytopia) eventually they sent a replacement which was also faulty (failed to charge after 3 charges), by this time the warranty had run out, once again many emails to mytopia, only responding when I threatened bad… Read more

review, left unresolved and disappointed! In hindsight I wished I’d spent an extra $500 or so and purchased a Leitner!

Brake pads – I really do like this ebike. Purchased it around 3 months ago but then my brakes didn't work anymore and I was looking for pads to replace but there is no such size, asked the website where I bought this ebike they are out of stock and wouldn't have any until Feb. Put the bike home for a few weeks waiting for this so it is so much inconvenience. If you guys read this please tell me where can I get this pads in Sydney. Thanks. Show reply

Pretty good, but gear ratio issue – I've owned mine for several months now and it's pretty good, but it really needs an extra higher gear, or different ratios for the 6 gears. Since the motor powers the wheel directly you tend to stay in 6 (or 5) all the time. But on a flat surface, particularly at any power setting other than 1, you'll find you can't get to the 25km/h theoretical… Read more ·  1

top speed of the motor because of how fast you have to pedal to keep up with the motor, even in the top gear. I suspect this is an issue with many low-cost e-bikes and saw many similar comments in reviews of ALDI's e-bike. I never noticed this on my first few rides because I was usually going fairly slowly and often on footpaths, but with extra confidence I've found this to be the major limiting factor of the bike for commuting. In my earlier review mentioned I didn't experience much difference between the power settings - this is incorrect. Not sure why I felt that eary on, the difference is apparent.

Great value – Purchased 2 of these bikes to use both around local area + take when caravaning which is why we went the fold up model. Turned out to be a great purchase as easy to fold/unfold and is very sturdy. Wife & myself both impressed with how easy it is to ride as well. Great value for the money! Show details ·  1

lots of fun – Very easy to ride for both adults and kids. Being foldable makes it very easy to transport and store. I would recommend these for anyone wanting a quick way to get around town. Much fun. Show details ·  1

Great Value – Great value for money. Purchased to take caravanning so being a fold up bike is very handy for us. I was surprised at how sturdy the frame is and im super happy with it. Show details ·  1

Fairly good – Good value for money. Price justifies occasional use. A bit heavy to carry in car. Easy to use and fold but a little fiddly at first - gets easier with practice. Show details

Great Bike – Great bike for the price. My wife loves to ride it around the neighbourhood. It is a little bit heavy, not sure if I would want to put it on a bike rack on the car. Show details ·  1

Good with caveats – Good for the price. While lighter than some (eg Leitner) it's still a HEAVY bike and folding it and hefting it onto the back seat of a car requires enough strength that I don't want to do it unless i have to. I'm a relatively small but fit male. I don't think my wife, who is petite, would be able to manage folding & lifting it alone. Unfortunately… Read more

it doesn't fit into the boot of my small car when folded as I was hoping. I've scratched the door panel with the pedal at least once lugging it onto the rear seat. When folded, the front half tends to swing out when moved so I use a short length of thick cord to tie the front wheel to the frame which makes handing less cumbersome.

Be aware that at this price point there is no suspension, so while the tyres absorb some bumps, you do notice rough pavements.

Assembly took longer than expected as the nut & washer on the frame folding hinge assembly fell off and were very tricky to get back on without assistance.

While waiting for the battery to charge I took it out to see how it rides as a regular bicycle, and was disappointed that gears 3-5 were noisy, 3 especially so. Google told me this meant the gears needed "indexing" with the adjustments to gear shift cable so a trip to the local bike shop was needed. No big deal, $30 later problem fixed. The bike guy mentioned that the front chain spokewheel is not designed to be a front spoke and the chain came off a couple of times while he was working on it. He said this could happen while riding in the lower gears, especially after some wear. However I've discovered that the bike almost always gets used in gears 4-6 only, because the motor doesn't care what gear you're in. It's not like it goes up a steep hill more easily when you're in first - that would just mean having to pedal much faster once the motor's kicked in to its single speed.

I soon discovered the two higher power settings don't seem to make any difference when going up a steep hill other than to show less range left on the battery. Fortunately the lowest setting works fine and I'm happy to always use it on this setting.

There is a springed throttle on the right handlebar but it does nothing. I assume this is a feature that can be enabled in markets where unassisted power is legal.

The brakes are a bit annoying; rather than applying constant friction, they seem to cycle with a repetitive noise that has me using them as little as possible eg on/off/on/off down a hill rather than on a little all the time. This is probably something the bike repairer could have adjusted but I decided I'd live with it.

While this might sound like a negative review I am very happy with the purchase for the price and just wanted to point out these apects of my experience to prospective purchasers.

I was annoyed that Mytopia dropped the price after I'd paid for it but before delivery DURING the stated offer period - ie the offer changed before it had expired. They have offered me the difference in store credit which I'll probably use on a spare battery.
