I had this for around 6 months and I enjoyed it a lot. Rides well and has power to spare for hills. Being a mid drive it operates only when you are pedalling. If you arent pedalling then it cant supply power (its via the chain through to the back wheels). This has advantage of leveraging the gears but as I said it not great for lazy pedalling to… Read more ·  1

go fast like a rear drive motor.

I had an issue with the mid drive motor that required replacement. This became a problem as it was going to be at least 3 months (11 weeks - not guaranteed) plus I had already been sent a spare power control cable, that didnt fix the issue.

I requested a refund given the timeframe and my needs. Mytopia, who I purchased this from, agreed without any real need to push for this. I did have an issue based on my advice on the BSB for the refund. That was my error.

Why I recommend the bike, is that it was a good ride, well suited to hilly environments, excepting the repair time issue.

As well the company (Mytopia) support was good and helpful.

Slow motion e-bike – This bike is truly a granny bike. The motor really drops of at 22KPH to also zero assist. The gearing is such that the bike actually tries to restrict you to 25PKH. In any traffic this is just dangerous. I looked for some modification methods but you really can't change anything in the setting except the sleep setting. While there is an App to… Read more

change the settings I can't find any way to connect the app to the power controller. There is very little technical detail for this bike outside the assembly instructions. How to charge the battery doesn't even inform the user how to know when the battery is charged. (BTW: the charger LED goes green when the battery is fully charged, like most other systems) The seat is super hard. You will dread every bump in the road. The only way to get around this issue is to reduce the rear tire pressure to less than the recommended minimum. The splash guards are twisted after being stored in the freight packaging. This causes them to scrape on the tires. This is a minor problem but unnecessary. On the positive side the bike is mostly of good quality with the exception of the spokes. Stainless steel spokes should be the only spokes for any modern bike. The brakes are very good and worked well straight off. Most of the fittings on the bike are of satisfactory quality. Overall this e-bike is an A- and could have been a bit more accommodating with speed and customizable. Replacing the seat is a must for anyone who buys this bike.

VALK IS PATHETIC – I reached out to Valk directly on their website asking how to reset factory settings. Noah from Valk could not even tell me and says to ask the supplier I bought it from. he cant help me (so you ask a company a basic question about their own branded product, but they cant tell you) Eozzie the suppler, I already tried contacting but don't reply.… Read more

I even had to supply my receipt, date of purchase, address and email before Valk even gave me the usless response of an answer. Steer clear from Valk as the service is worse than poor. Highly disappointing and frustrating to deal with .

I love it! – Have just purchased the Metro TR5 mixte stepthrough. Only ridden it 3 times only owned it 3 days. My husband helped me choose between the Vista & Metro. He said for the extras definitely worth buying the Metro. I do love everything about it but I can't touch the ground & don't feel safe if I have to stop suddenly. If I do I have to slide forward… Read more ·  1

off the seat which is not good. I also have to lean the bike right over to get my leg over. So not sure if I can continue with it but love the extras over the Vista model( smaller bike) my husband would ride mine if I have to get a smaller one. if I had ridden this prior to purchasing I'm fairly sure I would have said it's too big! I'll persist for now maybe I'm out of practice riding a bike. My advice if buying this size bike online test ride another bike this size & if ok buy a Valk. Purchased from Mytopia $1499.

Amazing Value – A few months ago I had 2 electric bikes stolen . One was a powerful Earth Bike and the other one was a Valk folding ebike which my wife was very fond of. As replacement we decided to purchase from Mytopia the Metro ST TR5 + - Step Through Version. The bike was on special for $1299 and I thought it represents good value so we decided to buy 2… Read more ·  1

bikes. After riding the bike for 120kms over a period of 4 days I can say without hesitation that the bike is such a pleasure to ride. Power delivery is very smooth and motor is whisper quiet. It feels like a luxury bike that has plenty of finess. It is a very capable bike for what it was designed for which is a commuter bike. I cannot see any electric commuter that will beat Valk at this price point. Im no stranger when it comes to electric bike , i have ridden at least 10 electric bikes over the last 12 years and this one is one very special bike.

Excellent Value – I'm a pretty serious cyclist I hadn’t heard of this brand. I did a lot of research and test rode a few bikes, a Merida, Cube and Norco ranging from close to $3K to $5K. All nice to ride but not a lot of difference between them. They had some cheaper models but they were missing key features I wanted like a neat integrated battery design, front… Read more ·  1

suspension or lights.

Looking at the specs of this one, I could see well known brand name parts have been used I hadn’t heard of Ananda (the motor) but I took a ‘calculated gamble’ and ordered one of these.

The component I was most concerned about was the motor, and on my first ride, I was relieved to find that is very quiet and has the natural responsive riding feeling I was hopig for. I might change the seat because I’m a bit fussy, but other than that, the paintworks is great, the brakes are great, the grips are comfortable and the tyres have a nice smooth tread.
