Just spend the money on a better machine and test first – We bought this about 2 years ago as cheap back up to our main powered Vac for minor dust and spills around the dinner table(vinyl floor), fluff etc and in the first month thought is was great so bought another for my wife's work place. Despite major cleaning of it on a regular basis -continually -it just does not do the job to a suitable… Read more
standard especially for cleaning the car carpet and often the dirt just falls back out the suction tube. So we are going to replace it with market leading product. Yes it was cheap ....but now we have to replace it -- so bad economy over time.
Dodgey one – Mine worked great for awhile then it started loosing suction now it hardly picks up anything even if you hold it right over the dirt it picks it up but then when you turn it off it all falls out, I have pulled it apart cleaned it thoroughly but after reading all the good reviews I must have a crap one. Great on hard tile floors but only ok on carpet – I find it a little top heavy and the swivel head is a little hard to control. When using on my carpeted floors (use the on/off button to activate the brushbar rotating option) it tends to lift off the floor so I need to use 2 hands to exert more pressure so it stays in contact to the floor. I find it great on my tiled floors. You can turn off the… Read more
brushbar option when doing hard floors. A shame it will not get right under the furniture as the the motor part gets in way of lying down flat to achieve that purpose. The motor is noisy too. The dust bin does not empty well either. I need to stick my finger in to dislodge the dust/debris from the inside. Another big problem is it is very difficult to pull apart. The instructions state to press the handheld release clip to pull to separate the handheld from the reach wand. Very difficult to do and I struggle doing this every time.
I do like that I can easily remove and clean the brush bar in the swivel head.
There is a wall mount that comes with this and other tools which are handy: 3 in 1 tool and a pet/stair tool.
I use this every other day on my 4 bedroom house and it keeps it charge for entire clean and I do recharge after every use.
I will not be buying this again in the future.
Excellent suction, good price – Just bought this stick vacuum at "The Good Guys" and got it price matched to "Godfrey's". Unpacked it and tried it out on the kitchen tiles and living room carpet (before charging). Then the battery was empty. Screwed the wall bracket onto a cupboard (I'm renting, so no holes to be screwed into walls) in the garage and it's on the charger now. All… Read more
crumbs from both floors got sucked up, even in the corners! Very happy!!!
July 11th 2017 Update: Best vacuum ever bought!!!
Thanks to Product Review I was able to read all good and bad opinions from other people who have bought a stick vacuum cleaner. The Vax VX51 had the best reviews, so I went out and bought one. I went into 3 different shops and went for the one at The Good Guys who were the most expensive ones but who also matched the price of Godfreys (I don't particularly like shopping there). When I came home, I unpacked it and vacuumed my kitchen, dining area and rumpus room - then the battery was flat. I then put it on the charger and left it over night. The next day I vacuumed the whole house: 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, rumpus, walk-through robe and hallway. The charger light was still green which means it's still not empty! It vacuums very, very well, even the dust along the skirting boards. Very impressed and I can only recommend the Vax VX51!
Very Good Value for the money – 1. Appearance. Professional design. Looks upmarket. 2. Portabilty. The stick vacuum model is a 9/10 for balance, weight and use. The working parts up at the hand hold are a tad top heavy. However I cannot see how it would be improved so Ok 9.5 3.Working parts. I waited six months to review because I had a big name brand in mind and wanted to see… Read more
if there was any comparisons to make. Fortunately someone loaned us a Dyson. In the trial we did not like it and thought the marketing statements were puffery rather than factual.
The foot piece, tube and motor area fit together easily. A little spray grease on the fittings where they assemble make it even better. The filtration system is as good as anything we have used in 60 years. Definitely beats the brooms we started out with. :-) . The button to release the dust canister is underneath and not quite the easiest to use. There is a trap door button you push DOWN on to release the stuff collected and you need to have the motor separated from the tube to do it easily. On the ocassion that we decide to clear the filters the dust canister is removed, the can openned and the inside filter removed. Amazing how much it gathers. It's important to do this often, as inside the filter is a moulding with holes that allow the air to be drawn through. This definitely needs cleaning too. Be ready to wipe it as very fine dust gathers there and it's like a coating on the plastic. All pretty easy! The motor is perfectly satisfactory and produces plenty of suck.
In the main head on the floor there is a brush that can be turned off and on by a blue switch on the very top of the motor. It's very good. I even use on the carpet on our staircase as it can be used to brush the pile up, while vacuuming, producing a nice new carpet look. Otherwise it' does a great job of flicking stuff up off slipoery floor tiles.
Worth noting. There is a further air intake filter that is accessed by two blue push buttons on the top end of the motor. So far I have never seen anything on this one.
4. Accessories include a hanger to hang the full machine on a wall bracket. Leave it assembled and it hangs from the handle. Also the usual tubes suited to getting in corners and sides of chairs. These can also hang on the wall bracket. They can also be connected directly to the motor/filter area for hand held cleaning and dusting. One small tube has a base with material on it, it's terrific for dusting.
5. The working end swivels well in all directions. Thing about pulljng rather than always pushing.
COMPLAINT. Yet another manufacturer that prints the model number etc in the smallest type available, even though ther's a ton of room on the sticky. Also its near impossible to pick up the machine without turning the motor switcb on. Needs a click OFF position. OK you get used to it. I wish the date the battery was manufactured had to be put on the label so store stock was not too aged.
You can buy the vaccy with all confidence. It's really very good.

Still going strong – Two years on and still going strong,Battery last's for ages, easy to charge. We use the vax more than our big upright vacuum and i am still impressed by how much dirt the Vax picks up,nothing negative to say, still has plenty of suction and easy to use. Very happy with the Vax ! Show details · 1
convenient, lightweight, powerful – I use it everyday, more convenient than a conventional corded vac. It's really lightweight and maneuverable too. Plenty of suction. It's quite noisy. I've always thought that the join where the main unit and the pole connect was a weak point and may break, but after over 18 months of daily use it is still fine. Recommended. Show details
Love this vacuum. Never lets me down – This is a fantastic easy to use Vacuum. Purchased from Bunnings. Paid around $289. Best money on a appliance in a long time. Super easy to charge. Charges for around 40 minutes. So easy to maneuver. Light and versatile. I vacuum on carpet and tiles and great suction. Easily goes between surfaces. I use everyday and it literally takes me 5 mins to do the lounges and bedroom. Easy to empty and clean. Show details
Negative reviews
I must have a dodgy one – I can't understand the good reviews on this piece of rubbish. Even if I hold it on top of the dirt it won't pick it up. And if the dirt is really light, it goes up but falls out when machine turned off. Absolute rubbish. I gave up and bought a Dyson - OMG what a difference. Show details
Worked ok in the start then only problems – Bought this cordless vacuum from the target in early 2017 after hearing all the good things about this machine. Upon getting and using in the house found out that this is not very efficient, suction power is not that great and the rotating brush in the mouth stopped working after 2 months of use. The battery life is around 22 minutes which I found a little less. Show details
ok! – Compact! Easy to use. Cord retraction is good to use. Even after a year of use. It is a bit annoying to clean the dust with bagless. The colour is nice with orange and white core. Power: strong enough to use for a family but long time use is a bit lack of sucktion. Show details

Ok, but not great – I have had my Vax for 6 months now, the first 2 or 3 months it was fine however it is definitely deteriorating. Hardly works at all without turning on the brush bar which just drains the battery more. Emptying it is a bit of a pain as it needs done so often. And cleaning the brush bar is even more of a pain (hair especially gets caught in this) as… Read more
you have to unscrew it and take it all apart, you would think there would be a simpler way of removing this? I guess it would be ideal for a very small apartment, but that's it.
Love it!! – Would have to say this vacuum is by far the best I've owned. It's light and eat to use and super quick to empty and having a luxury of bagels is even better. The power cord is a little short but apart from that it's awesome!! Great for a busy mum Show details

love it very compact – a great vacuum, we use this to vacuum our entire 3 bedroom home without an issue, mostly floorboards with a little carpet. the turbo head it comes with enables you to remove the brush to clean it which is great. battery life is great. Comes with a few different heads for cleaning different areas. my only issue would be the power head moves around a bit when vacuuming-would be good if you could lock it in place Show details
Great product for the price – We have had a couple of Stick vacuums and the have either broke because they were poorly designed or didn't live up to their companies blurb. The Vax is a great Vac and if kept clean and free of debris (roller Brush) then it works just fine. Very portable and adaptable. We like it. Show details
Very good vacuum – This vacuum has been a very good purchase. We use it all the time when the kids make a mess. It is very easy to take apart and clean all the pieces separately. It is light weight and easy to maneuver around the furniture and anything else the kids have left on the floor. Show details
Do the job – Very happy with the product works well great features easy to vlean Light enough to go around the house easily without hassles. I m very happy with this product, i would recommend it without a doubt. Looking forward to get an upgrate vax when the prices will go down. Always pleased to use ! Show details
Great suction. Lightweight and easy to use – Lightweight and very easy to use. Great suction - perfect for getting rid of cat hair. It holds its charge well, but does take quite a while to charge. A little messy to clean as the dust gets into every tiny area in the container. You have to physically twist the filter out and dust tends to fly everywhere when you do. Easy to manoeuvre on tiles, carpet or wood. Purchased for $190 in March 2017. Show details
This is perfect – Of course, everybody likes and uses Dyson a lot, but when I saw this product at my friend's house by chance, I thought it was really good for the price. But I could not follow Dyson's motor but I cleaned it up and used it lightly. We got a discount at the end of the year, so it was a good purchase. Show details
Good Vacuum – I have had this vac for over a year. The performance of this vac is pretty good has great suction for carpet and hard floors. Only negative is it doesn't have big enough wheels for it to slide easy over hard floors. The vac is light and very easy to maneuver. The battery easily lasts 20 mins and I have it connected to the charger all the time so it is ready to go at anytime. 2 year warranty is also a bonus. Show details
Great vacuum cleaner at good price – Great vacuum cleaner with good suction and quieter than my old vacuum cleaner. Easy to use with its versatility however doesn't have a very long battery life. I normally vacuum and 2 storey townhouse with carpet and tiles and it sucks up pretty well but once I reach the 2nd storey, I clean it out to make sure it sucks up better. Overall, definitely recommend it if you're looking for a nice alternative to the Dyson at a lower price Show details
Good Vacuum – Overall, it is a good vacuum cleaner for a small home. The weight is fine, and my arm doesn't feel tired holding it for a while. The battery is more than sufficient for our two bedroom home. It comes with different types of heads to handle different cases, e.g., some tricky corners. However, the dust bin is not easy to clean. Poor build quality – Started out well, but now that it's approaching 1 year, the connection on the tube to the body is loose and consequently the electrical plug for the motor head doesn't always work. You have to wobble it to get the wires to join to get the brush turning. It's going back. Show details
Love my stick vacuum cleaner! – So happy I bought a stick vacuum cleaner! Wanted a Dyson, but the Vax has been great. Light and easy to manoeuvre. I find the suction is good and the accessories handy, I especially like being able to use as hand held (without the stick). So handy! Dirt canister is easy to empty and fits quite a lot of dust. Compact to store too. You'll never go back to cords ;) Show details
Great affordable product that does its job – This is a lightweight vacuum cleaner that's easy to handle and great for sucking up small and light items like hair on floors. Not too great at sucking up debris on uneven surfaces such as car seats but overall it's an affordable product and does its job when you stick to vacuuming floors. Show details
Very bad compared to Dyson – Once finished vacuuming all the last bits to be vacuumed up, just fell out of the vacuum, clean filter and still does it. Very bad. My daughter has the Dyson and it is far better. Just don’t know what to do, especially after reading so many good reviews. Maybe mine is just faulty Show details
So glad we got this vacuum – The battery life of this vacuum lasts a long time and the re charge of the battery doesn't take too long either. The performance has been great. We have used it on carpet, tiles and rugs. The suction is so good that using it on a rug you need to stand on the rug to move the vacuum or you will be dragging the rub around with you Show details
It's ok – The machine is light weight compared to other cordless ones I tried. Very easy to move and get under couches etc. The suck started off amazing but has slowly degenerated over time. It's 10 months old and starting to fall apart and has lost most of the suck. Expected to get more value out of it then I did. Glad it wasn't too expensive Show details
Super happy – Very happy with my new vaccumm great suction on carpets and tiles easy to just grab and get the job done easy to pack away in the cupboard after use it's very quiet kids loves helping with it and it gets the job done very happy with my new vaccumm Show details
Sux for floorboards – Bought this on the understanding it was for hard and carpet floors however the head scratched and damaged our wooden floorboards. Really disappointed obviously, and while I have since found out they have a different head designed for floorboards in the more expensive model, I feel that Vax should not advertise that this model can be used on all floor types. Otherwise was happy with it. Show details
Good vacuume – Strong suction, easy to move over both carpet and hard floors. A little noisy though but a good reliable machine. I use it throughout my entire house and would recommend it to anyone wanting a solid vacuum. The only fault I can find us the clips are not very strong and I worry they may snap over time. Show details
Great product! – Bought this as a gift for my GF but I am the one who uses it, it is a great purchase for $150 I prefer this over a DYSON (which I also have) the swivel on the head is great and seems to last 15-20mins and sucks dirt really well! Show details
Good for flat floors – Very compact, light and user-friendly. The price was cheap compared to other similar vacuums. The charge lasts long and is quite enough to clean the whole apartment. However, it is not very powerful. It will clean dust from a flat floor like vinyl or laminate, but will be useless in case of a thick carpet. Show details
Won't even sick up dead Flys – Without doubt the most disappointing product I have purchased for a very long time. Has never worked well from day one. I contacted VAX support and they kept insisting it was me not cleaning the filters, but I can assure you they were spotless. I suggested it could possibly be a seal which was causing the issue. But support send very… Read more
disinterested in engaging in a conversation which may have involved a warranty claim. I would strongly recommend trying out other brands before considering this.
It's a godsent product – It is quiet and very light to move around and collects more than I thought possible. It is efficient on both tiles and carpet and quiet. It has only one flaw and that is the nos of filters that have to be cleaned regularly. It takes 8 hrs to charge fully and doesn't require a lot of storage space, which is great. My fur child doesn't attack it and feels comfortable to step around. Love it! Show details
