Wish I'd never bought it – I bought this to do quick clean ups in my living area mostly (I have 2 dogs, and I also have a corded, bagged barrel vac for more thorough, whole-house cleans). At first, it seemed ok.. However as time went on I began to regret my purchase: - it only sucks when the power head is on (meaning the attachments kit I bought separately for $70, to use… Read more
in the car, is useless). - the head gets clogged SO easily, and the whole thing needs to be pulled apart to clean it (by contrast, my other vac just needs 2 screws removed, and it unclips and opens). - the handle isn't very ergonomic and my hand hurts after using it for a few mins. - the powerhead died after about 18 months. I had a friend fix it, otherwise it would have cost more than it was worth. This seems to be a very common complaint. - the battery died not long after - the replacement is $165!! no thank you.
All up, I've had it less than 2 years and it's ready for the tip. I actually bought a second one for the office (it doesn't get much use so it's ok - for now) and I feel bad for wasting so much money on this dam Vax.
Terrible – Have had to replace this product twice. Both died within 6 months. Suction lasts for maybe a month, despite constant cleaning and upkeep. Heavy, poor battery life, wheels fell off and overall useless for hard floors. I’ve resorted to using a $10 broom to sweep the floors and it has done a better job than this product ever did. Suction good; hard floor tool is terrible – Initially, I loved this vac, until the hard floor tool began to wear down on one side and I reasoned that it would be scratching my timber floor. The floor tool was replaced under warranty and the new tool is doing exactly the same thing: wearing down on one side. I particularly like the performance of the brush function on the mat - it gives a… Read more
thorough clean and generally, the machine does pick up all the pet hair from the floor. I cannot fathom why the floor tool is wearing on one side only - it is not possible to add weight to just one side of it, so the problem cannot be caused by too much hand pressure. It is quite a heavy machine compared to another that I have.

the quality just rubbish – The design is bulky, and the quality is not even average. The iron screws are already rusted after a month of usage. It is heavy for single hand use. It only sucks well in boost mode for a couple of month. after that, go landfill. No sucking power at all after several months. Waster money if it doesn't last. However, it is cheaper than Dyson. Great Handheld for the Price but needs to Earn the Extra Star – For the money, this is a great product and rivals Market Leading products which can be considerably dearer. We have a house full of hard floors and two dogs that drop a bit of hair/fur. The powered brush grabs most of this stuff very well as there is a good gap between the brush and the housing which facilitates easy transfer to the Bin on the… Read more
machine. We also invested in the add on Tool (s) for $79.00 which makes the Vax63 more adaptable to other jobs like skirting, Window sills etc. Overall we are extremely happy with the product. It could earn an extra Star by improving the Wall fitting where you sit the machine during charging. It is very basic and in my view substandard to the actual vacuum itself. There is nowhere on this small anchor to store the charging cord so it (can) dangle on the floor when not in charging mode. Vacuum 5 Stars *****, Storage dongle 1 Star *
Owned for a year, so far it's been pretty good – We paid a very decent price for it and it also came with some additional accessories which have been pretty useful. It's lasted us a year so far and I'm pleased with its performance. The only thing I would recommend is the motorised head should be easier to maintain (but apparently that's only for the more expensive models) and the filter could… Read more
have been a HEPA filter. Not as powerful as a barrel vacuum cleaner but still does a good job of picking stuff up.
A good middle price range – This does everything I need but has better suction that the cheaper KMart version. Slightly heavier than I expected but am happy to compromise to have a stick vac that picks up bird seed. Much cheaper than a lot of the big stick vac brands. Good battery life and power head.
Negative reviews
Good suction, but design sucks – I have had a few handheld stick vacuums over the years so I knew what to expect performance-wise. The suction power is reasonable (for this type of device), the motorised floor head does help with general performance. Overall it works pretty well on our (tiled) floors. Battery life is very good, the dustbin is easy to empty and the filters are… Read more
easy to remove for cleaning. It's very easy to maneuver around and the balance seems pretty good.
Downsides include the weight - it's a bit heavy. It's also a bit noisy - especially the motorised brush head. And the wall mount is best described as rudimentary. It's essentially just a hook that you hang the device on. The charging port is in a particularly awkward spot - underneath the device when it's hanging on it's wall hook. (It doesn't have an integrated charging port built in to the the wall mount like other more expensive vacuums).
Probably the worst part of the design is the motorised floor head. In order to remove and clean the motorised brush (something that needs to be done fairly regularly), there is no quick release mechanism - you have to undo three screws with a screw driver to remove it. Tedious!
For the price this vacuum's performance is good, but it's design and ease of use are very ordinary.
Failed just outside warranty period – Only worked well on carpet-hopeless on wooden or linoleum floors. Hardly ever used but it still managed to fail just outside warranty period. Definitely will not buy another Vax product. A couple of months ago thought I would try and repair it myself, pretty good at dismantling, repairing and re-assembling most anything: Could not fully… Read more
disassemble the head end so suspect Vax glue some parts together (not alone, Apple glue everything they can to ensure you don't repair but buy new - I have 11 Apple Keyboards, 7 Mice, 1 Trackpad, all failed - no warranty support (just like Dell also), but back to the VAX63, only parts remaining, the drive motor, the aluminium tube and drive belt, may come in useful for an Arduino, Raspberry Pi or PLC project. Very disappointed!
Spent more time cleaning it out then using it – If you want to spend more time cleaning out a vacuum cleaner than vacuuming this is the vaccum for you. This is not value for money at all. Battery life isn’t as good as I thought it would be. Show details

Absolute Rubbish! – This vacuum worked ok for the first year, but after that, the head has just broken for the THIRD time! It has never had that good suction on our carpet or hardwood floors, it'd just kind of flick the dirt around and you'd have to go chasing it and go over it several times. And when you'd turn it off, all the dirt would just fall out of the head… Read more
again, leaving a terrible mess if you forgot to turn it off over the rubbish bin. Then the brush head started cutting in and out, so it got sent away for several months, just to be given a *new* (possibly refurbished?) head. That new head only lasted a few months until it seized suddenly and loudly! We just got it back maybe 4 or 5 weeks ago and the head is screaming again, about to seize. Seriously, don't waste your money on this vacuum.
Battery died faster than expected – Advertised as 'lasts 400 cycles' which is not true. Warranty already over and battery died. Agree with the rest, brush head needs dismantling to remove tangled hair. Run time could be greater, looks great in shop but believed that Australian product suits Australian home. On the plus side, cannister is easy to empty and price is not as high as Dyson. Regret not going for xiaomi Show details
Useless and coogs – Have tried to use this effectively is impossible… The tube clogs with dust debris and fluff,it gets caught in the rubber valve at the end of the tube..so just about no suction at the head..wish I hadn’t bought it Show details

Very difficult to clean, gets easily obstructed – The hand held bit of it is ok and performs well. Battery life is really good. However, the brush of the stick head gets stuck with tangled hair after just one time of use. To remove and clean it I have to unscrew the unit, which is bad. I also don't like that the charging station is just a plastic bracket with a loose hanging cable, so instead of… Read more
just placing it on the unit I have to connect the dangling cable, other vacuum cleaners have solved this much better by having the connector in the bracket. So, I wouldn't buy this unit again.
Unreliable! – The first model of this vacuum vx61 was a solid and reliable wand vac. We have since had two vx63 due to warranty replacement and both had power off problems. They switch off for no reason. We have sine upgraded to a Dyson. More powerful performance and very reliable. No more vax for us! Show details
Head not working – Wish I hadn't purchased. Head not working after 8 months. Couldn't be bothered with Vax service, dealt with them before. Bought a Dyson, so far great after 3 months. Won't buy vax again. Show details
Not working within one month – I have owned this vacuum for just over one month and there is a problem charging the battery and it’s unusable. Waiting for retailer to provide a refund or replacement, rather than the offered repair.. Show details
Power head is a big problem – I purchased VAX VX63 pet pro vacuum cleaner. Worked well but within 12 months powerhead stopped working. Got replacement under warranty and once again just over 12 months same problem. Contacted seller, service agent and VAX and made to run pillar to post. Called customer service who recommended purchasing new head straight away. Very bad product. Don't recommend buying to anyone Show details
OK BUT – Had this given to me as too heavy for older person with arthritis in hands. I have pets and boys so... It’s OK BUT... if I’d purchased it, I would have probably taken it back. With suction/vacuum only it’s very weak but with the rotating brush it picks up much more. However, where the dirt/fluff enter the barrel it clogs very easily and because of… Read more
the position of the pipe into barrel when you turn it off upright the heavy dirt/grit falls back out the pipe onto the floor again. Barrel isn’t very big so it get clogged quite quickly. Considering its supposedly for pet homes I don’t think it’s the best vacuum. For the money I think there may be better out there. I certainly would have taken it back had I paid for it.
Avoid buying at all costs.. buy something else – Purchased this vacuum to replace my old and cheap Black & Decker Dustbuster but after the first time using it, was sorely disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, the first two times I used it, it was good (not great) but since then, it’s either lost suction or something has gone wrong (Good Guys won’t refund as it’s been used and not in sellable… Read more
condition!). It will only “work” now with both the booster and brush head switched on but it’s far from its first performance. It’s a poor design.. brush head gets tangled up quickly, the dirt compartment is small and is prohibited by its big filter, the stick is an odd shape and constantly gets jammed and it’s somewhat noisy. When I try to use it, I’m so annoyed at myself for purchasing it and end up using my old vacuum.
Honestly, spend more and get a better product. This vacuum is plaqued by a very poor design.
Power head issues – Just inside my warranty period the powerhead started screaming like something was stuck in it. I removed the roller and cleaned it but the situation did not improve. I contacted the retailer who kindly replaced the whole unit but now just over 12mths later the same thing has happened again to the replacement. Although the unit is new this is… Read more
not covered by the original warranty so once again I have a cleaner without a working power head. My choices are to replace the head for around $150 or buy a completely new vacuum. I'd love to know if I am just really unlucky or if this is a manufacturing fault.
I had high hopes for this product but have been a bit underwhelmed by it on the whole. Good but not great – Only had it a couple of weeks so far. Battery seems pretty good. Suction is OK but not great. You need Boost Mode and Brushbar on for effective cleaning which reduces battery life considerably. The Brushbar gets tangled in hair very quickly and is not the easiest to clean. Dust cannister is quite small and needs to be emptied often. Dust gets… Read more
stuck between filter and plastic outer housing and the gap is too small to get fingers inside so you need to use tweezers or similar to clean it.
When you hang it on the wall bracket, the charging socket is on the underside at the rear making it really difficult to plug in the cable! What were the designers thinking? It would have been so much easier if this was on the top.
The accessories come with a storage bag which is OK but it would have been nice to have a wall bracket or even be able to clip a few of the more useful one to the stick cleaner itself.
In summary, cleaning with this product is quite quick and easy and fairly effective, But the mediocre suction, the Brushbar tangling and the small & difficult to clean dustbowl make the overall experience just average. I would not recommend but would also not deter somebody from buying this as long as they know what they are getting. I got it at a good price and got the additional tools thrown in free.

stopped working after 4 months – At first we were happy to have our first cordless vacuum and found it useful for 20m battery time. kept its filters cleaned all the times but now its suction is stopping after 30~90 seconds of operation with ample battery power still available and brush head running. paid $233 on catch.com.au but overall disappointed with the product. they are… Read more
asking to take it to repair center and that I will do but I would prefer to get a refund.
Vacuum function is not good by it self, works better with brush head ON only.
Should have spent $200 more for better product.
used on wooden floor and rug only.
Would not recommend - poor quality – On the positive side it works well with brushbar + boost mode on carpet ( however this shortens the battery life). Unfortunately the hose split at the end and there is a loose connection with the brushbar power. The first issue was repaired ( replaced ) however the repairer missed the second issue. Show details
Do not recommend – The vacuum was really good at first. However after a couple of uses the suction became terrible. The brush head has to be on all of the time for it to pick anything up and even then, bits seem to just sit in the tube/head so when the power is turned off it just falls back on to the floor. To say it is supposed to be a vacuum made for pets i would… Read more
not recommend. The brush head is a pain to remove to clear the hairs. I don't even own any pets (or have children) and it doesn't do a good enough job around my home.
VAX VX 60 – worst vacuum cleaner, first the battery pack, secondly the flexi tube, cost for a replacement $60.,thirdly the power head, such poor quality workmanship... never will i buy a VAX again, we may all say buy Australian, which i did, now i will buy overseas mad products... very poor suction Show details
Mediocre at best – Poor suction, noisy, heavy and low battery. Boost mode is a must for any effective cleaning. It also feels like it is scratching my floorboards while in use. For the prize this product is very disappointing. Show details
Broken pipe like reports from others – Used on timber flooring only. There are cats in the house but our robot vacuum looks after that very well. This VAX was used for occasional spot cleaning and a set of hardwood stairs. Like others have reported, the reinforced plastic hose which connects the head to the shaft has split. It is out of warranty but has only been used sparingly… Read more
throughout its short life. The head does tend to clog up, requiring it to be dissembled to clean. Annoying but not a show-stopper. The next vac one won't be a VAX.
Useless – Do not buy this product, it's suction power is atrocious and it says it's for pets but the minute you clean dog hair up it clogs. The brush that spins inside is so hard to clean but you can't vacuum without it. The vacuum always has to be used on boost mode otherwise the suction isn't good enough so you chew through batteries. Used on carpet and tiles. No Good Show details
Hose on head split twice in just over a 12 month period – Nice when it works for a quick clean but not a patch on the $80 plug in vac from kmart for results. My biggest issue though is the head. Hose split once under warranty. New head issued and hose split again but this time just outside of warranty. Wouldn't buy again Show details
Biggest waste of money – This vacuum is the worst thing I’ve ever bought constant motor failures have exchanged twice already each unit lasts up to 8 months. Wouldn’t touch this brand ever again. Filters constantly clog up after a single use and it appears the motor filter material isn’t fine enough to stop dust getting inside motor. Show details
RIPPED OFF – Purchased from HN 9/11/2017. The power head seized and was replaced 3 weeks before warranty expired. Then 2months later, now out of warranty, the rechargeable battery has died and will cost $205 plus labour to replace it. Good Guys have the exact same cleaner for sale at $249. WHAT A RIP-OFF. Not a very happy customer and will never buy a Vax product again. Show details
Can not recommend – Used on tiles and carpet. In the first few months it seemed fine, did the job but then it stopped working. The head was replaced and then it started making this loud awful noise. Back for repairs and another head replaced it is still the same. Stops working every few minutes. In the process of trying for a store credit to buy something else. Show details
Power head scratches wooden floors – I have bamboo flooring and cannot use this vacuum anymore because it's leaving scratches. The power head has a thin, flat, felt strip which is completely useless at keeping the plastic base from dragging along the floor. Both the head and the floor are scratched. Show details
Wouldn't Buy Again – My old stick vacuum died and I wanted a replacement pronto. Reviews of this product were all positive, but compared to my previous appliance, this stick vacuum does not perform so well. Why? 1) The wall bracket is flimsy, needs three screws and the charger plug has to be inserted separately. Ideally, the bracket and charger should be in one;… Read more
alleviating the need for the two steps of placing the unit on the bracket and inserting the charging plug. 2) Having to turn on the Brushbar, and turn off the Boost mode, on start-up, is inconvenient. Ideally, the Brushbar should be automatically "on" as it is needed for most applications. 3) The dirt container is difficult to empty. Ideally, the dirt container release button should be conveniently on the top of the dirt container, then there would be no need to bend over the container to release the dirt and have dust blow up into one's face. 4) Suction is not as powerful as one would expect and the head is not easy to manoeuvre. 5) A nice to have, would be a light on the front of the vacuum head, so one could see the dirt in dark spots. 6) The appliance is heavy at the handle end. In summary, not a product I would buy again and given the price, not value for money. In my experience, cheaper appliances have better features and perform better. The problem with all stick vacs is the longevity of the battery.
