every time I have contacted them. They have helped me to organise whatever changes or additions would be required to achieve whatever I connected then about each and every time. Last week we needed entries entered so that our new website could go live. I rang to make sure that I had supplied enough information when I created a ticket for technical assistance. The estimated time when I created the ticket was 4 hours before they would be able to check my ticket. During my phone call the VentraIP tech assistant said that the info supplied was adequate and that he would be able to start on it straight away as it was an easy issue to assist with rather than a complex problem. Sue enough required entries to or domain done and website ready to go live. Or Website builders made comment about the excellent error free service and asked me who was handling our domain. They were excited to find out that it was VentraIP who they said they believed was another QLD company like themselves. I'm a Sth Aussie so my excitement about the possible QLD bit wasn't such a high issue. But I can highly recommend VentraIP to the domain novice like me or to any one. Had I been notified, I would have allowed it to expire.

When I contacted support, I received generic scripted responses and was told the renewal was non-refundable, with no attempt to acknowledge my long history as a customer or the significant business I have referred to VentraIP over the years.

What disappoints me most is that VentraIP used to feel like a customer-focused Australian company. This experience felt more like a revenue trap than customer service.

When things go wrong at a hosting company, three things determine whether customers stick around: uptime, service quality, and customer support. Over the last decade VentraIP has slipped on all three, and Saturday's outage was the nail in the coffin. This isn't a one-off bad weekend. It's the visible symptom of a company that hasn't kept pace with the technical investment its competitors have made.

The degradation is measurable. TTFB has crept up. WP Admin dashboards that used to feel snappy now drag. Phone support that used to connect us in minutes now leaves us holding. The status page has become a wall of monitoring alerts through 2026. When we test migrated a client site to SiteGround after noticing these issues, the difference was night and day. PageSpeed scores jumped, TTFB dropped, and dashboard responsiveness was in a different league that was before we made many changes to speed it up further.

Acronis tells the same story. Restores that used to take under five minutes now drag out to 20 or 30 minutes and suspend the cPanel instance in the process. That is not normal behaviour for a disaster recovery product of this calibre.

It also doesn't help that VentraIP now seems more interested in branching into digital marketing than fixing the hosting product that built their name. We came to them because they were specialists. They're not behaving like specialists anymore.

To pre-empt the likely response: yes, it's plausible VentraIP has made some investment in their infrastructure over this period. The problem is it clearly hasn't been enough to keep up with the competition on the things customers actually feel, namely TTFB, service quality, responsiveness, and the frequency of service disruptions. Investment that doesn't translate into competitive performance isn't a defence, it's the problem. The benchmark isn't "did you spend money", it's "are you keeping up with the providers your customers can move to in an afternoon". On that benchmark, VentraIP is losing.

We host 60+ client websites on SG and I've instructed the team to formally build the business case to migrate the rest of the portfolio away at our earliest convenience. We aren't willing to put our clients through the consequences of staying with a provider in visible decline when other companies are making stronger investments in the quality of their service.

Being Australian-owned was meant to be a strength, not an excuse. Right now it's a weakness, because the global players on AWS and Google Cloud have moved miles ahead while VentraIP has tried to manage ageing infrastructure in-house.

VentraIP hasn't maintained its standard over the last decade, and ultimately that's the most disappointing part. Uptime, service quality and customer support are what a hosting company is judged on, and Saturday's outage was the nail in the coffin on all three. We wanted to be lifelong hosting customers - they prioritised expanding service offering like marketing.

as well, with many requests they used to be happy to help with now deemed "out of scope" and ticket turnaround of 3-12 hours. I literally had to beg them to help me with a recent issue that was very simple and quick for them but too complex and time consuming for me. It looks like there was a change of management imposing a much stricter support policy on top of the high staff turnover (which could very well be a result of that). That's not the hosting experience I want to have. So regrettably, at this point in time I can't recommend them.
