Poor service
I recently enquired with Webcentral about an issue I had logging in remotely, and after that it appears the operator had created more issues. The team member mucked up my system yet again where I have not received emails from my customers for a period of a day, and they have now fixed that, but can’t seem to work out where the the emails for a 9 hour period have gone. When I ring up all I get is waiting ages on the phone for a supervisor who never come. This is the second time this has happened to me in under a year, and the last it took 4 days
... Read more to fix it up. On top of this, all of my website equiries go straight to spam, and if I don’t check, it can be a couple days before I respond, by then the customer has arranged another company. No one seems to have the skill set for this. Absolute rubbish service, I would strongly suggest to go elsewhere for your digital services.A very good and reliable service provider until now
I have been with NetRegistry - WebCentral for more than 10 years but they have disappointed me badly because of their default 2 year subscription. I actually switched it back to 1 year before trying to make a payment. The payment failed or at least I thought it did because I did not get a confirmation. So I refreshed and made the payment again or at least I thought I did. Whatever happened, I am being charged for 2 years when I only want one year. WebCentral refuses to reimburse 1 year and in an email to me essentially blames me for being caught out by its default 2 year subscription. That is scammy and disappointingly greedy behaviour.
Hi Nick,
Thank you for reaching out, we appreciate your honest feedback.
... Read more I will investigate this matter to ensure we understand exactly why the domain was renewed for 2 years as opposed to your selected 1 year. Although our default auto-renewal is 2 years, customers may choose to renew their domain manually and select their preferred renewal length. I will thoroughly review this matter to understand what happened and see what we can do. I will update you via your case after I have investigated. Thank you, again, for taking the time to reach out about this. I will be in touch with you. Kind regards, Kevin - Customer AdvocacyWham Bam what a Scam
Do not use this company. They are operating (what I believe to be) scams.
I recently received an email that I was required to supply an ABN number or the domain would not be re registered. I have no problem supplying this information.
To do this simple task I had to change registrant (not just update information). Ok, it’s a bit of extra work for me but that’s fine. Then when going through the process I was hit with a $119 fee. A $119 dollar fee for me to update my information!!!. This is an obvious scam. This did not cost Webcentral any money
... Read more or time. Also it is a ransom scam because if I did not pay, they state in the email: “This means ANY website and/or email services will stop working immediately.” Like I said repeatedly over the phone, I have no problem supplying my ABN, but it is blatantly a scam to charge me for it. I wanted to transfer my domain to another company as I wasn’t keen on being extorted. This wasn’t possible because they blocked my ability to transfer. I had no choice but to pay the ransom to keep my domain operational. And here is the kicker, during the phone conversation when I asked not to be charged a ridiculous fee, the “Admin” said that it did include a years registration, LOL. So they only want to steal $90 from me not $119. Fun fact: The same day I received my extortion email, I received an email stating I requested a change of my password, I made no such request. Coincidence?Hi Michael B.

... Read more In accordance with auDA policy (the regulatory body of AU domain names), if a domain does not have eligible registrant details, such as an active ABN/ACN, it must be re-registered with eligible details, for you to keep using it. Updating these details is called a Registrant Name Change which does come at a cost that includes 1 year of domain registration and covers administration fees. We have worked to create a simple process that allows our customers to easily update their details so that they comply with auDA policy and can continue to use their domain. If a domain expires, then any emails and websites attached to it will stop working, so it is paramount to comply with this policy to ensure you do not lose your domain. Therefore, we make every effort in our communication to ensure our customers are aware of this policy and the importance of keeping a domain's registrant details up to date, that way they can make an informed decision on whether to update the domain's registrant details. For more information about the process, please see our guide below: https://support.webcentral.au/s/article/Changing-ownership-of-au-domain-names Regarding transferring a domain, we do not block domains from being transferred if they are eligible for transfer. However, in accordance with auDA policy, to be able to transfer an AU domain you must be “eligible to hold the licence at the date of the transfer”. With ineligible details, you typically cannot transfer to a different registrar (domain hosting company). Regarding the password reset, we have implemented a new security measure that will send you an automated password reset email if your account password is detected as weak and therefore vulnerable. This gives customers an opportunity to update it and protect their account. This is not related to the ABN/ACN update email. As a registrar, we must comply with domain name policy, but we have worked to ensure that our customers are communicated with and given the tools to easily make the necessary changes needed to keep using their domain without interruption. Thank you, again, for providing this feedback. If you would like to discuss anything with us, you can reach us via our feedback form: https://webcentral.au/forms/feedback/ Kind regards, Kevin - Customer AdvocacyI fully support the auDA policy on domain name eligibility. I was happy to supply you with my ABN via your online form.

Australian company.
During business hours the phone will be answered quickly. The company's automated phone response is a friendly well spoken voice. The phone call is responded to quickly by an English speaking, knowledgeable and helpful employee. This is sooo refreshing and all my queries have been sorted. After hours you go to a call centre and the phone is always answered. Call during business hours - such a stress-free experience.

First Webcentral game me no notice that my domain had an issue. The way I found out was when my emails stopped. The issue was that the owner no longer has an ABN, something that changed 10 years ago and the domain has renewed without issue since then. Then it cost me $119 to change the details (in its simplest from changing an ABN to an ACN). It is still not fixed
Hi Michael,
I am so sorry to hear you haven’t been able to find the help you have needed. We always aim to pick up the phone as quickly as possible and also have other avenues of support such a live chat and web form to help with your enquiries!
... Read more Regarding your domain name, I’m so sorry to hear that you were caught by surprise. We always strive to inform our customers about any upcoming necessary changes. In this particular case, our team has been actively making phone calls, and we typically send email notifications as well. I will look into the details of what transpired in this situation. In a recent audit, auDA (the regulatory body for Australian domains) has been enforcing the requirement that all registered or renewing domain names must have active ABN or ACN details. This measure is in place to ensure that all '.au' domain names are held by eligible Australians. We provide information about eligibility, emphasizing the need for up-to-date ABN details in our renewal reminder emails, and this requirement is also emphasized during the registration process. Updating the Registrant Name Change involves a one-year renewal and incurs an administration fee to facilitate the necessary change hence the cost of $119. I have verified that your ACN has now been successfully updated. We apologise for the delay, which was caused as the Australian Government Website (ASIC connect) was undergoing maintenance today, preventing our administrative team from verifying your ACN eligibility details until the maintenance on the ASIC website was completed at midday today. I hope the above provides some clarity and thank you again for your valuable feedback as this helps us improve. Kind Regards, Joel - Customer AdvocacyThree things. First the ACN was cancelled in November 2014 so why 9 years and around 4 domain renewals later does it become a problem?
Second, you said your team have been actively making phone calls
