I have a 15-month-old Kerry Blue Terrier, Fionnagáin, who recently developed a rather large lipoma (fatty lump) near his tail, and he also requires desexing. Even though I now live almost three hours away, I did not hesitate to contact Dr Phan, as I know he is among the very best in his field. I have known Dr Phan for many years, and he has provided exceptional care for all my beloved four-legged companions: Ania, my Kerry Blue Terrier; Mikkie-Lyon, my Wire-Haired Fox Terrier; and Clément, my beautiful Airedale Terrier.

From the moment I called, his genuine warmth and willingness to help were evident. That level of care and attentiveness has always been consistent over the years.

Despite moving from inner Melbourne to regional Victoria, I have chosen to continue using their services. My dog is not just a pet—he is my family and my best friend.

Dr Phan possesses qualities that are increasingly rare: he is ethical, compassionate, and truly sees each animal as a member of someone’s family. His pricing is also very fair, and he shows genuine consideration for pensioners and those who may be struggling, ensuring their beloved companions still receive the care they deserve.

What stands out most is his approach—he does not rush into surgery unless it is absolutely necessary, unlike others who may proceed without fully exploring all options first. That level of integrity speaks volumes.

The service and care provided by the entire team are simply outstanding.

I highly recommend this veterinary clinic. The care they provide means everything to me, especially as I live alone here in Australia.

I would give them even less if I could. Had a 4 minute appointment, the vet said she would "look up information and email me". Charged $105 for nothing, the email was just information copied and pasted from a website on Google. They do not care at all, they just want you in and out as quickly as possible.

Admin-Please feel free to contact me for confirmation/ proof VETCARE HAWTHORN (Camberwell Road) needs to be shut down immediately!!! Do not leave your pets there. They have just lost their Vet nurse due to the disgusting back of house, dead animals left in cages, out of date medications. Used syringes and swabs, No blankets for freezing animals. I reported them 2.5 years ago. They are still open! I was just contacted by this ex staff member who is obviously reporting them again now. RSPCA please do something. This breaks my heart ‍⬛

Council voucher desexing – Low cost vet does not mean low level care. I am so happy I took my Dalilah to Vetcare for her desexing with a council voucher, I thought maybe it's like a wam bam thing and she wouldn't get the best care, I was very happy to be wrong. This vet is set up for animals not humans, so the lack of reception or magazines etc is not a comment on their service, all their concern money & energy is going towards the care of our dogs. I'm really pleased with their great caring treatment for my Dalilah, and would not hesitate recommending this vet for desexing. A very caring and understanding Veterinarian. Couldn't be happier.

Perfect care for your paw friend – We have recently got a husky pup and we have known Dr. Phan since. He is terrific, knows how to handle the pup, and shares a very good relationship with the furry friend. He makes you and your paw friend very comfortable and has great knowledge. I would highly recommend seeing Dr. Phan if you want to care/pamper your 4-legged mate.
