This has to be the best mop ever invented. Easy to use. For stubborn marks you can apply some foot pressure on the mop and off the mark comes.

Purchased in for $30.

Very bad quality – Pump kept leaking, small rubber kept coming out, spraying handle kept jamming. Considering this is over $40 its not worth the money

Purchased in at Big W for $42.

Great easy to use mop – Bought one of these for my Mum and she loves it! Mopping has never been easier at her house, and after giving it a go, I couldn't agree more. Easy to use for cleaning up spills - just spray and wipe. No bending over, no wringing required and it doesnt leave the floor all wet. Mop head is easy to take off and clean, and replace. I do find for bigger mops around the house, best to use the other type that can hold more water and clean more thoroughly. It needs a bit more water (without leaving the floor soaking).

Purchased in for $49.

Great & Safe Mop Solution for Wooden Floors – Background: We have just had the wooden floors in the house sanded and covered with a satin polyurethane coating. I knew that the battery-operated floor cleaner I was using (Bissell) was too harsh for the floors, allowing too much water/solution to lay on the surface of the wooden floors and needed a gentler solution to keep the floors clean, scratch free, as well as free from pools of water or cleaning solution, which can damage the floor and strip the coating. On YouTube I found a solution. It was an American mop device, which uses a soft microfibre pad, with a spray trigger handle, that sprays a small amount of cleaner onto the surface of the wooden floor in a fine spray, from the nozzle at the end of the mop, above the head. There is a removable solution bottle, which you insert into the bottom of the handle housing, near the mop head. This gravity feeds the spray nozzle at the front of the mop, to spray the floor in front of the mop.

You then use the flat microfibre pad to clean the floor and absorb any excess fluid. This is to ensure any water does not pool in the cracks and gaps between floorboards.

Note: Excess fluid or water will be absorbed into the wood and can cause swelling of the wood and the polyurethane coating to break down and/or flake off.

Solution is at Bunnings:

So, yesterday, on the way home I dropped into Bunnings on the way home from work, to see if they had a solution.

I found exactly the same device that I saw on the YouTube video: the 'Vileda Promist Max Plus Flip Spray Mop'.

The mop comes with 2 pads, a soft one for normal/regular cleaning and a courser one for scrubbing more soiled areas.

Today I tested out this kit:

Using the Dyson stick vacuum first, with the soft microfibre roller, to pick up all the dust and pet hair first, I then set up the Vileda Promist Max Plus Flip Spray Mop. I used a cap full of wooden floor cleaner with warm water from the tap and filled up the bottle reservoir (600 ml).

The bottle clips into the mop housing and with the soft microfibre pad I worked away from one end of the house to the other.

Mop Trigger:

The mop handle has a trigger at the top and is very easy to press, to get a decent amount of solution to spray onto the floor, in front of the mop head. I had to squeeze a little lighter, as giving it a full squeeze sprays quite a lot of solution, which can get on furniture or walls.

It took a little bit of practice to learn to spray in front of furniture or walls and then mop forward, up to the furniture or wall, to cover that floor area.

Moving with the wood grain, as best as I could, the floors came up wonderfully clean.

I only used three quarters of the solution.

I checked the pad and found no pet hair on it but found the pad was a bit discoloured.

The YouTube video suggested you have three soft pads for your kit, which I got, so now I have three soft and one course pad.

The video suggested you just throw the pad in the wash after each time you clean your wooden floors; which I did.

Well-made Mop Pads:

The microfibre pad is very well made and can certainly withstand going through the washing machine. It came out purfectly clean and ready to use.

Handle Would Be Better if it Was Adjustable:

I am not a very tall person, just on 6 foot tall. I did find that I felt it a bit in my lower back when using the mop, sweeping backwards and forwards, as you really need both hands to apply a decent amount of pressure and control.

I think the only thing that could need improving is the handle: making it adjustable, so it extends another 12 inches (300 mm).

Even with 600 ml of fluid in the bottle, the mop was very easy to move across the floor and clean.

Score:

So, for ease of use and a system that really does a good job of cleaning and protecting wooden floors, I would give the Vileda Promist Max Plus Flip Spray Mop 95 out of 100.

Final Thoughts:

If you are looking for an easy and safe floor cleaning kit for your wooden or hard floors, that will clean and protect the floors (not damage the floors): this is an excellent solution and I highly recommend it.
