Vtech BM2150 Digital Audio Baby Monitor

Exactly everything I needed – no more, no less – This monitor has the perfect set of features, no useless frills. It's incredibly intuitive to use – they couldn't possibly improve it! So please Vtech don't even bother trying. Many reviews complain about the battery life, but just put your own better rechargeable AA instead of using the default ones and voila, problem solved.

Good range, stylish and easy to use BUT battery needs an upgrade – Does exactly what it claims in a small stylish package. The baby unit always needs to be plugged into power, and the rechargeable parent unit is small and easily pocket-able or stands up on a bench. Good sound quality (I can hear if my wife asks for something from the nursery, and then reply to her, it's like a walkie talkie), handy digital temperature, easy to use in the dark, volume and sensitivity adjustable. The range is great, works across my house and even outside when I go to the clothes line. The lullabies are a bit tinny but actually make me sleepy. The only problem is that the included rechargeable batteries are rubbish, they take too long to charge and go flat quickly, this will frustrate you. I solved that by grabbing 2x AAA NiMH 900mAh batteries from Jaycar, and now the parent unit lasts heaps longer. Unless you have to have video, for about $65 delivered + $10 on replacement batteries, this is a very handy unit.
