Camera and home base lose connection ALL THE TIME despite excellent wifi. Home base battery didn’t even last 1 year before it needed to be plugged in 100% of the time to use it, making it not a portable screen. Motion detection and recording fails all the time. Vtech sent a new camera and home base after having issues, and I have had the same issues with the new one within 3 months. Hard pass, won’t recommend or purchase again. Show details

Expensive, not worth the money. Try other options – We bought the original VTech RM7764HD back in December 2020 and then added a second camera in November 2023 ahead of our twins arriving. The old unit died in September 2024 and we replaced it with the RM7764HDV2-2 on the same day the old unit died. We were told that the additional camera we purchased eight months ago wasn’t compatible with the… Read more

V2 so we had to buy the two camera pack straight up ($400) (other places selling it for RRP at $519).

The only improvements over the v1 is that it finally has a clock on the display and the picture is clearer with 8x zoom however with both cameras it now won’t zoom back out to 1x so the field of view is max 2x which is way too narrow.

I’ve raised a ticket with VTech and done all of the standard things (unplug wait a minute, replug and turn on, reset all cameras and parent unit).

The old unit also had better sound monitoring in that the parent unit would mute unless the baby made a substantial noise (obviously sensitivity was adjustable) the V2 doesn’t mute the sound so you literally hear every single sound inside the babies room (white noise machine, air conditioner, sighs, movements etc) all the time.

The V1 was also a lot easier to connect to the smartphone app. The V2 you have to individually connect each seperate camera to the wifi as well as set up a new account with the new app which asks a few questions that are too personal (details of the children which is thankfully optional) and then add each camera through the app.

Also, the V1 used USB-C for the cameras and importantly the parent unit which was handy as the unit could be charged anywhere in the house, the V2 has gone back to an old style plug so I’ve had to order an additional two adaptors to have the same convince as the old unit (one charger on each side of our bed and one charger in the kitchen ($25/adaptor so and extra $50).

For how much they got right with the V1 it’s ridiculous how they got the V2 so wrong.

Definitely avoid this one. It’s crap and the price of the unit just makes this purchase all the more insulting (was also warned by the sales clerk I bought it off that VTech won’t accept a refund/return for being unhappy with the product (in hindsight it was a warning that their after sales service is difficult which I ignored given that I had a good experience with my original unit).

I’m going to replace the battery in my V1 and see if I can get it to work again (another $38 that I might just be wasting my money on) and if I can get the old one to work I’d definitely switch back to the V1 but then I couldn’t in good conscience sell this piece of crap second hand to someone unsuspecting given how terrible it is.

This monitor feels like what bad breath would be if it manifested into a product.

Wish I read these reviews earlier! BEWARE! – STAY AWAY DONT MAKE MY MISTAKE!!!! Absolutely terrible monitor! Only reason we swapped from our uniden was to get a bigger screen and wifi. Bigger screen yes, that’s about it. Camera constantly disconnects regardless of wifi or direct connection. Loses signal as soon as you walk out of the room with the camera. Show details

Total garbage – This monitor is terrible. The only good thing about it is the large display screen. However, this is useless when the connection constantly gets lost so you have to go into the babies room to turn the camera on then off. I had a faulty camera initially so got the whole thing replaced. Now 17 months on the charging cable for my parent unit is… Read more

broken so I can't use it at all. Called vtech and am getting sent a replacement in 7-10 business days. So I'm now without a monitor for 2 weeks. I would never recommend this product. It is such a waste of time

Camera always disconnecting from parent unit – Camera started to drop out constantly after 5 months of using it. Thought it was our wifi modem so bought a wifi extender to trial which was unsuccessful. It was extremely frustrating when we had to continuously turn the camera off and on to reconnect it to the parent unit only for it to disconnect after 15-20mins! Have read other reviews and wish I knew earlier…DO NOT BUY!

Terrible. Don’t waste your money – Positives; *night vision camera is great. *Picture clarity is great. Negatives; * Temperature reading never works. I’ve set up two different thermometers next to it and sent to VTECH to prove it’s faulty and not heard back. Today the temp reading said 10c. It was actually 22c. * At least once a week through the night, the camera starts… Read more

flicking from day to night mode, constantly for hours. There is a clicking from the camera that could wake the baby and then you have to turn the volume off on the monitor unless you can sleep with the clicking. Switching everything on and off doesn’t make it stop. * I had the monitor in the same room as the camera once and was told via the LCD screen to move closer so it could connect. The signal constantly drops out. * battery life is terrible. Does not last for a two hour nap. * you can’t use the music / white noise and have the volume on to hear your baby.

It’s a terrible terrible product with a wide range of faults and that has caused me an untold amount of anxiety. Is the bedroom to cold / Will the clicking wake the baby etc etc.

Complained to VTECH twice and didn’t hear back for month and when I did they said if I truly believe it’s faulty to talk to where I purchased this from to see if they would send it away for testing!

Not worth the money – All the plastic components started to fall apart within the first 6 months of ownership (and having only used it for 4 months of that time). Antenna easily broke but it did the job. Until it didn't. Started having to move the monitor closer and closer to the camera until it became pointless. Went through 20 steps after contacting them via email… Read more

to try and fix it with no luck. Tried calling for more help, but couldn't get any advice or exchange because all the connecting issues were because the Antenna broke (a year and a half before it started disconnecting).

Outside of that, there's about a 5 second delay in the baby crying to being able to hear it on the monitor. The temperature is awfully inaccurate- to the point where you have to turn off the alerts because there's no way in the middle of winter it's 30+ degrees. The battery life is crap as well so really has to be plugged in 24/7. Now at less than 2 years old, all it is, is an expensive paper weight.

I’m not going to waste time typing a review. Crap product. Crap warranty. No customer service at all – OK product for eleven months, infrared stopped working. Emailed many times but nothing. after sales service was non existent and a disgrace. You do realise we’re relying on you to watch our children? Show details

Absolutely Horrible Connectivity. I would rate it negative if I could. 1 star rating still too much for this junk – Worst piece of JUNK. If I had a dollar for every time the unit got disconnected, I would be a Trillionare. By the time the unit reconnects to the camera, my kid has grown a month older (slow). Horrible terrible unbelievably annoying connectivity. The night vision start to have issues after few months of use.. It just shows black picture when used… Read more

in dark. Battery life is horrible. And a recent experience we had, when viewing your camera on both your phone and the unit, each of them shows something different - like a different time frame (for example the phone was showing the kid is still sleeping in his bed, but the unit was showing the kid has moved out Of his bed) as if the phone was frozen but we check and it wasn't. So weird. This is THE MOST EXPENSIVE baby monitor from Vtec at $350 from Baby Bunting! Wth???

Worst Monitor & even WORSE Service – This is my 2nd Vtech monitor. I'll be switching brands. Have so much trouble with them, pathetic range, dodgy microphone & camera. Even worse, have emailed service 3 times and no response. Dont waste your time purchasing Vtech!

Never connects – Never connects longer then 5 mins wortless we already had a replacment next one same junk go with another brand since reading reviews everyone has the same problem. We brought the most expensive thinking there wouldn't be any issues.
