Legs won’t fold - rubbish stay away – Tent is fine however the legs are a huge let down. They don’t collapse and only after 2 uses, (both times 2 of the legs wouldn’t collapse) I e now snapped one of the legs try to put the tent down. Useless rubbish, stay away. Show details
Great tent shame about the Legs! – Legs are a HUGE let down. Used it three times and each time the legs wouldnt collapse. I had to take screws out in order to pack it up. This last time I have bent one of the legs and now looks like it has to be replaced. Otherwise a great tent easy enough to put up and sturdy. Rained nearly all day and not a leak. Paid less than half price for it,… Read more
still not worth it if you cant use it, but going to see if I can make my own legs. Might not be as quick to set up but may be more reliable! Otherwise its the bin. So no more Wander products for me.
Good tent let down by legs that refuse to collapse – Have used the tent 4 times now. Easy to set up & comfortable. Unfortunatly taking the tent down is frustrating. On all 4 occasions at least 2 of the legs have refused to collapse when attempting to pack tent away. Have had to dismantle hinges to get legs to fold. Local BCF have been less than helpful
Real World Touring Tent Review – I went to look at the 250 Wander Extreme touring Tent, however, decided to buy the 300. Happy wife, Happy Life. I was originally looking at the Oztent RV 4 or 5, however, I did not want to lift 25 odd Kg's of tent onto a roof rack, especially every 2nd day on a touring trip. The 30 second Oz Tent is a great tent, however it is not much quicker to… Read more
erect than the Wanderer and there is no where near the head room compared to the Wanderer.
The price of the Wanderer is 1/2 the price of the Black Wolfe equivalent when on sale, and when do you see the Black Wolfe at these prices, and the Wanderer is quicker to put up.
Now to actually erecting the tent for the first time, being supervised by the wife of course, 4 minutes and 10 seconds, (timed by my better half), by myself, including removal from the heavy duty bag, pegging it down, installing the fly and putting up the front awning. The well made bag which has heavy YKK zips, has plenty of room for the extra sand pegs and floor matt, that you will need to buy, if you are going to the beach.
There is a separate compartment in the bag for the fly, and the pegs are good solid pegs for off beach camping. Really simple, really easy, once you peg the floor out, just step into the tent floor area and lift the centre up and hey presto, it is up, and then the fly.
The manager from BCF at Underwood, was really helpful when he came to ask if he could help, once I had stopped measuring and sticky beaking. He has a Black Wolfe, that he has had for awhile, and as he said, this is nearly the same with some improvements, and a lot less expensive.
It absolutely p......... down over night after putting it up in the back yard, and not a drop inside. There was not a lot of wind, so I cannot say anything about the tent in a windstorm.
Putting it back in the bag, about the same time, due to removing pegs, and there are straps to wrap around the the tent to keep it altogether. HINT:- Once you fold the frame up, end for end the whole tent and then wrap the compression straps around the tent.
The bag is approx. 34 x 34 x 140 CMS for the '300' overall, and the '250' is about 120 CMS long and same width. To be honest I would say that the '300' would nearly fit in the smaller '250' size bag, however at least it is not 3.0 metres plus long like the OZ Tent. Fits in the new PX2 Dual Cab Ranger tub easily.
Next time I put it up, I reckon it will take 2, - 2 1/2 minutes. So thanks to the manager at Underwood, great tent. the '250' was $599.00 and the '300' $719.40 on sale to members at present.
