We Wander
1 review
Not great – We got given a gift card from our landlord for Christmas 2024 and 2023. Overall the experience we got from it was not the best and the whole process was difficult to navigate with limited offerings that were not requiring us to spend hundreds of extra dollars. The pros: - Presentation is beautiful - You get 3 yrs to use the voucher Cons: - There's no way to know the value set on the card. This has flow on effects: see my next point:
- Different experiences will offer different things. For eg. one will be for a single person requiring you to then have to pay for more people but yet another vendor might have an experience for 2 people. There is no way to tell which you are allocated other than going through every single experience and comparing the fine prints. Its tedious and annoying at best.
- The values of the experiences seem to differ drastically between service operators. One service may offer a great deal while others are severely limited. This makes it extremely hard to work out the value of your specific card- and therefore, how much out of pocket you're going to be to use it.
- They say there's no additional costs but if your chosen experience doesn't include 2 people or is in the area you live then yeah, its got major catches and you're at the mercy of the other merchants pricing to get the experiences times to match up together with the same inclusions for both people.
- Offerings of experiences are very limited in some locations (Or just non existent) and are mainly limited to capital cities and major tourist hubs. Requiring a great deal of travel and added expenses for those who don't live in those locations.
- There is no real connection between the "We Wander" people and the experience business you're using it for. I had to go separately to their (Tanga Tours) website and call them directly to get any confirmation and for the actual process to even start. The We Wander website does not mention this. It doesn't mention anything really when trying to book. You just get a blank page every time you try to book.
- There's no information in the card or its case. You literally just get given a box with a black card in it. There are no instructions or anything. One is left to surmise that it's a gift card and once you scan it and look at the website to get more information which is still not obvious even on the website.
- The offerings of experiences seem to be mostly for food and alcohol based. Everyone eats sure, but without paying for more people for every experience you're mainly limited to basic things like a massage or alcoholic things. Not many of the 'cheaper' ones are family friendly that's for sure. And since when is sitting at a bar an "experience"?
- There's nobody to call or get in contact with when their ordering site gives you a blank page. There is a "get in touch" on the bottom of their page but its a basic one and we got no reply from it at all when we asked for help.
Overall we found the whole process quite stressful and baffling. I see what they're trying to do with the business but its just failing in so many practical aspects. Especially for those who live in a rural location.
