Over 10 years and still going – After using one for a few months in 2003 brought identical model beginning of 2004 and it's still going today. Washes perfect every time. Only problem I found after 8 years of use was occasionally 4:15 would pop up on display at completion of a cycle. Much searching on internet found nothing. I discovered it means the machine is unbalanced… Read more
so an adjustment of one problem foot fixes this and doesn't happen again till that foot plays up again which isn't very often.
Going to be hard to find as good a replacement when this one does give up the ghost.
Quality appliance – I love this front loader, my clothes are always really clean and washed so well (I used mums other brand machine when on holidays and really noticed a difference). It's generally quiet however does get a bit louder on the spin cycle but otherwise great. I have loaded the machine up lots of times and have had one repair on the bracket that holds… Read more
the drum however I was washing a heavy blanket and after 7 years of thrashing it broke but was fixed quickly and easily.
I love that it tells you how much time is left on your wash and that the alarm alerts you when it's finished.
Thankfully it has a child lock too as my toddler loves buttons and tries to play with it when on.
Ten year average life for washing machine....No way !! – I bought this machine in 2004 I think. Now December 2014. It has worked well as I am guilty of sometimes over stuffing it. It still cleaned ok with 7kg limit. Sadly it started to whine like an angry woman and it got LOUDER to almost like a 747 jet taking off. I looked up You tube on how to replace the bearings. Fantastic... I loved the… Read more
American bloke with the Frigidaire(Electrolux same as Westinghouse I think..I should thank him) video step by step you almost have to take the whole machine to bits. But never give up my friend. I found that the tub basket rubber seal had come lose and the main bearings were rusted. I whacked them out and replaced them with (Great quality sealed rated 5 Nachi bearings from a shop on the Hume Highway, Somerton) just in case the new seal came off again, sealed is better.
( Just a tip if you do this big job remember not to disconnect the computer board as you don't need to, as I nearly did...put it to the side only for this model. Also put some silicon around the tub seal when putting it back together )
Anyway a long story short it goes like a dream now....hopefully for another 10 years. The only whine I hear are now the Trasilyvanian.. neighbours next door.
I discovered washing machines are not too complicated after this exercise.
Expect about 3 hours work at least if your replacing the bearings. I think its better than throwing out an overwise good machine that looks new. We are really wasteful people really. (oops WARNING...don't use dodgey Chinese bearings as they are bad and you don't want to do a big job twice. They are counterfeiting not just medicines but even bearings. ..so beware !!
Hope this helps someone out there. Send me a line if you need some help with the Man vs Washing machine.

Long lasting machine – We have had ours for approx 10 years! With a family of 5, since the eldest child was 1, and used on average 1 wash a day (to keep up with washing) sometimes more... I loved the time delay as I would hang out a load at night and reload fo a load to be finished when I wake up. also loved the timer displaying how much time was left. I had… Read more
never waited for a load to finish and always used the full washes. being able to manage my washing time wise and using the full wash cycles meant clothes being washed correctly.
Great wash, no service – I bought this machine second hand, with a noisy bearing. The parts were easy to source (I have a very handy husband). But it was a nightmare to pull to pieces ans service, according to him (he's not a fan of front loaders for this reason). I love the features of this machine, and the capacity is sufficient for a full week of work shirts and two… Read more
pairs of trousers with underwear; nothing ever came out dirty.
Once the bearing was fixed, it was a dream. The machine was pretty quiet and vibrated very little. reliable, water efficient, economical on laundry detergent.
Terrible – The machine is a good washer and is easy to use but poor service available and where do you get parts? Has been a good machine However the main bearing appears to be US we have had the machine for 5 years. No service information anywhere.
