Worse stove I’ve ever used! – We bought a house with this stove! I don’t know how the previous owners ever cooked on it! Maybe they liked burnt food? You can’t turn the temperature down! It’s off or HIGH!!! The ceramic hobs have a mind of their own! I can’t wait until I can afford a new one. Show details
Don't buy a Westinghouse Stove – Just bought new old house with Westinghouse Stove 520 already installed. Told it works. Well it does - top plates go from cold to burnt. Nothing in between. After reading your reviews, too scared to try to oven. Whole thing is a fire hazzard. Not one bit impressed. Show details
Do not waste your money – Where to start. Large element only work on high. You can not use both racks at once in the oven due to not cooking the top rack and burning what ever you are cooking on the lower rack. Can not change element in the oven, you need an electrician, more money, better to buy a new stove. BUT never a Westinghouse!! Show details
FIRE HAZARD avoid Westinghouse at all costs – Nothing but dramas, and after looking on here seems to be extremely common fault with the stove top. How these have not been recalled is astounding. If only the accc would stand in before some dies in a house fire from this product. High recommend finding a different brand before investing your hard earned dollars with Westinghouse/Electrolux. Should be recalled- Dangerous – All plates go to red hot only, very dangerous, could burn our house down. Would not trust leaving it going and going outside or having a shower etc Grilled is also doing the same thing too Very common problem and Westinghouse should be doing something about it. Would not recommend that anyone buy this product, read the reviews first. Show details
Terrible should all be recalled – Stove now 11 years old and the controls keep burning out and go to full power. This is a very dangerous situation and I can't understand how Westinghouse can get away with this in this day and age. Have replaced a total of 6 controls 1 stove top element and 1 oven element. This is not a stove you can go and leave while cooking as it has the… Read more
potential to burn your house down or worse. I contacted Westinghouse initially and they did not know of this problem so I assumed somehow it was my fault or just a one off faulty stove. Thanks to the internet I will know better next time and be more informed. Shame on you Westinghouse.
Westinghouse stove Model PAk520W – I am not happy with this stove as the clock blanks out and beeps all the time while I am only using the hot plates or griller, I have not try it with the oven, If I could afford to buy a new stove I would but it would not be this type. Show details

Terrible Oven – This stove was supplied to us in August 2012 as a replacement by our insurance company after a kitchen fire. The stove has a model number of 520 on the front, but the owner's manual which was supplied has 540 on it. Our family has never been happy with this oven. The griller door is not held closed very tightly. The oven door will not close… Read more
properly. There is a 15mm gap at the top, therefore letting out heat. There appears to be no hinge adjustments to correct the door not closing properly. If there is a power failure or a changeover to daylight saving time or back to non daylight time and the clock needs resetting it is very confusing how to reset the clock. We have never had good experiences with Electrolux/Westinghouse/Dishlex/Simpson products.

Terrible Stove – I have the same issues as other posters: elements heat to red hot even on low settings, one control dial cannot turn element off, food frequently burns. I would not buy this stove again, ever, and the extremely poor quality means that I would not consider buying Westinghouse in the future
Very disappointed with my purchase – Our stove is only 6 years old and we have had issues with it after one year warranty expired. Now the element hot plate hears up really highland cannot be adjusted. Oven has just stopped working I.e does not heat up. We are very disappointed with our purchase and cannot afford any more repairs as we are pensioners.
Very dangerous product – I have a Westinghouse freestyle 521 it also will not cook on low..only high very disappointed in this product I think they all should be recalled very very dangerous.....I have to keep taking my pans off then let them cool down before I can put it back on...takes forever to cook a meal
No help from Westinghouse – Hotplates red hot only, cannot adjust to any other setting, oven died as well, to put it in perspective. If this model was a car the Government would Ban it and order a recall. But nothing from them, or The Company. The stove is 3 years old, used by two pensioners, Purchased new and professionally installed,
DANGEROUS STOVE! – I am having same problems, hot plates turn themselves up to full bore on their own, grill now doing the same. I have one work then I goes mad, down to one only that I can control properly. This is a MASSIVE FIRE HAZARD! Put something on low, walk away and you don't know what might happen next. I don't know what to do as I have no money to replace… Read more
this dangerous fire trap. It would only have had very little use until I moved in 2 years ago. NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

Find out how Westinghouse PAK518W / PAK520W / PAK521W compares to other Freestanding Ovens
Know better, choose better.
absolute rubbish – only designed to last 7 years at most trouble from 2nd year Hot plates wont adjust temp turn up by themselves firstly just one then two now only one works reasonably electrician said cheaper to buy new stove Westinghouse offered to send someone to look at it which of course meant travel time 1hr plus costs to tell me exactly what local… Read more

hate is not a word i like to use '' I Hate It`'' – Danger , danger danger, westinghouse freestyle 521 thyristors that control the elements temperature keep stuffing up ,causing the temp to switch from simmer to full on, one thing though, i did find out my smoke alarm was not working ,these ovens should be recalled ,this could be a something that causes a loss of your house or possibly your life ,… Read more

Front Hotplates Unusable - One's red hot, the other barely simmers – I bought this upright oven because it received excellent reviews. Contrary to the reviews, I have two front hotplates that don't work. The larger element on the RHS has one setting only - red and hot. I cannot use it to cook as everything burns. The front element on the LHS barely simmers. It is a most unsatisfactory purchase.

Dont Buy! – I am not the review type of person But this oven is the worst Item I have ever purchased, from day one it has had problems first one hotplate stopped working then the other two within weeks, the grill when hot expands and wont slide in or out,at this stage my wife said at least the oven still works........wait for it .....now that has just stopped!!… Read more
the only thing that works on this rubbish, now is the fan and one hotplate, our previous oven was 26 years old and still worked and no it wasn't a Westinghouse,my parents said Westinghouse was once a good brand but no more ...do not purchase Westinghouse products if you care about your hard earned money!
Burnt potatoes – I must agree wholeheartedly with iandejonge. This is NOT Australian. You try and buy "Australian" products thinking you are getting a quality product. Not any more. Replaced our old stove about three years ago with this Westinghouse 518 and within a short period of time my wife was complaining about the elements not being able to be turned down… Read more
to a simmer. Only one of the elements would do so. It didn't matter what setting it was on the element was always red hot. Now all the elements do the same. Try cooking on/off, on/off just so nothing burns or boils dry as did my potatoes. I was wonder if anyone had gone to the trouble of replacing the thermostats or if this was another waste of money. The oven bakes good bread Nothing on the stove works properly.

Westinghouse Electric Cooktop with Radiant Hotplates – I purchased this cooktop in 2008 from Harvey Norman. I try to buy as "Australian" as I can, but this product was of such poor quality that I am regretting my purchase choice. The little red lights next to the control knobs keep falling out into the cooker. I got these replaced under warranty, and the technician, while not able to say so, obviously… Read more
felt sorry for me with this product. Now that the cooker is out of warranty, I have to buy replacement lights on-line and install them myself. The fan forced oven does not keep an even temperature. Then, incredibly, the front radiant hotplates went faulty, and turned fully on and red hot even with the control knob on low. We don't use the cooker much so I can't understand why there are so many faults in the first 4 years. The last cooker was also an electric Westinghouse with radiant hotplates and lasted over 15 years with no problems! Paying over $800 for such a poor quality product is also annoying.
poor quality, unreliable.

Terrible – The Stove is now 4 years old. Only 1 element out of the 4 work. The Oven died 3 weeks ago, as has the oven light, which was replaced 3 times in the last 12 months. The Grill, Clock and Oven Fan still work. Though without heat, the fan force fan is only good for drying your hair when you feeling a little depressed. I bought it on special for… Read more
AUD$900 at Bing Lee. I won't be buying another Westinghouse. Extremely disappointed. It's clearly not built to last more than a few years when the same parts all die. Westinghouse Freestyle 518 - Great price. Nice design. Still looks brand new. One element lost it's temp control. No matter were you turned the dial the element stayed on full. This happened just out of warranty, as you expect.
Don't go near it. 2 years old, the oven door won't close, one burner stays higher than full heat… Read more (+1 reply)
