Wse6970 – Black sticky goo seeping from fridge after only 2 years. Was free standing with plenty of air flow. Now freezes things and doesn't seal properly. I have had to remove the black goo as it has been progressively worse and now is pulling the seal out of its housing After reading other reviews I find it seems to be a common fault. has this been covered by others out of warranty Show details

Looks great, very practical – The Westinghouse WSE6970 Fridge looks great with the stainless steel finish and works very well. It has heaps of room with plenty of drawers, shelves and shelving. Also had fabulous features like the alarm when door is open. Love the filtered water and ice but hate replacing filter every 12 months.  Show details

Black gooie substance at the bottom of the doors – What is this black gooie substance at the bottom of the doors and how can I stop this as it will end up ruining the seals. good fridge but the ice makers is over filling so I have turned off the water. absolutely love the fridge / freezer (although now discontinued I believe) but have noticed lately t – * fridge / freezer maintains good temp in all compartments * extremely quiet product - only hear a clank here and there when the ice falls into the bucket * very easy to clean * fruit and veg drawers tend to stick from time to time do love the product!  Show details

Black goo coming out of middle panel – Over the last 18months black goo like substances has been ozzing out of the middle panel. We clean the substance away and it is now causing the seals to break.  Show details

Too many problems – I won't be spending $2,600 on a fridge again, just think I could have had 4 nice 2nd hand fridges for the price of this lemon. Same problems as everyone on here. My Westinghouse stove, here we go again. Paid $1600 4 years ago the oven has been repaired twice in that time, well it's done it again..!! The problem is with the clock., the oven won't work without it !! I'm not buying Westinghouse again.

Water leaking from the bottom of the fridge – We have this fridge/freezer and every few days we have to empty the drip tray under the fridge because it leaks water......not just a little bit, enough to have to use up to 5 bath towels to mop it up. Waiting to come home one day and the kitchen floods. How do we remedy this. It's like the drip tray isn't big enough.  Show details

Black Tar – As with many others our fridge is also leaking black tar and running hot at times. At one stage there was black stuff coming out of the water dispenser as well. Water Leaking from Pipe at Bottom of Door – Water pipe at bottom of freezer door has split and water leaks onto the floor when you operate the water dispenser. Clearly a known design fault given the large number of similar complaints reported on this website. I contacted Electrolux by phone and email but they offered no assistance. Same old... same old split pipe – From day one it has moaned and groaned more than my wife..the hose split after a couple of years, me and my son fixed it but now its snapped too close to the hinge to get a coupler on...cause is cheap hose and too tight a bend into the door. Temps seem to vary although the digital gauge stays the same. Wouldn't buy another westinghouse.  Show details

I love my Westinghouse but I am very concerned about the heat inbetween the doors – This Westinghouse has been great. However have noticed in the last few months that there is a lot of heat between the two doors. So hot I can barely touch it. I am concerned that it is either going to go up in smoke or burn me. August 16th 2018 Update: ONGOING - Horrific oozing black tar from corners of fridge and freezer

Currently dealing with Harvey Norman Coffs Harbour who have have been amazing in the past resolving issues - now trying to rectify the situation via Electrolux. SO disappointed that such a well known brand has been such a huge let down, I've always thought Westinghouse was a great brand.....I'll keep you informed as to the outcome.

Is this dangerous – Fault 1. Hose cracked. It basically turned to chalk after a few years. It is not replaceable. We had to disconnect the water therefore no cold water or ice. Now it is getting extremely hot between the doors and we get nervous leaving the house thinking it might get worse and cause a major catastrophe. We must get rid of it. What a waste of money. Westinghouse should be willing to compensate people that purchased this piece of junk .  Show details

Great Fridge – I had an old westinghouse fridge which lasted a good 14 years until we had problems with the water and ice making machine. It was an old fridge so instead of fixing it we decided to buy a new one. This fridge is much better than my old one because it's a lot more spacious on the inside and it's also a few cm's taller too which is a bonus. The ice maker works perfectly too.  Show details

Disappointed – Bought the fridge in 2010. Did not take long for rust to appear on doors. The water pipe broke after 4 years. It could not be replaced as it is part of the door. Disappointed... should have done review research before spending that much money. Next fridge will not be a Westinghouse.

Great Fridge no problems after 3 years – This fridge is large enough for our 5 family members. Keeps things nice and cool. Ice maker still going strong. Has easy clean surface so fingerprints are easy to clean with just water on a cloth. It's reasonably quiet and looks good. pay $20 every 6 months but the fridge will let you know when to change with an icon. Paid extra $500 for two more years warranty but looks like I should have stuck with the three-year warranty not going to need 5 years by the way it performs. Hopefully, it will still be going strong in 10 years from now. We had a Westinghouse fridge before and was still going strong after 15 years. Go luck with your decision hope this helps. What a great Fridge, can't fault anything! – We wanted a wide fridge, went to Harvey Norman and they recommended this fridge. After 8 months, we have had no issues, fridge compartment is a great size, ice machine churns out the ice perfectly. What a great buy! told me it had something to do with the cleaning at the back of the fridge. He proceeded to vacuum the rear, wiped off substance, took the money and left. Within a couple of days started oozing again and is doing so to this day. I have emailed customer care at Electrolux and waiting on a reply however in the meantime if anyone has had a similar issue and it is resolved could you please advise me of what this was.

Fridge defrosted itself – Fridge/freezer stuffed. yesterday come home and everything defrosted and ruined . Power circuits to the fridge ok lights, instrument panel with fridge freezer temperature ok and showing -2 for the freezer and 2.00 for the fridge. That was all that was working compressor. freezer unit buggered. The chilling- freezer components not working. Rusting icemaker – We have had trouble with the temperature control in the fridge. Items freezing even though it is set at either 3 or 4 degrees. Runs Hot between the doors – The past month or so the fridge has started running Hot between the doors and on the side of the fridge. Kids burn themselves if accidentally touched when opening up the door. The freezer started to defrost ice cream and water Popsicle too. Water doesn't get as cold as it should and ice can be slow to make once it's empty. Water Leak at base of door. Small plastic pipe split where it is wrapped around bottom of Hings – Fridge Freezer work well, as did Ice-maker & water dispenser until recently. About 4 weeks ago water dispenser worked, but dispensed the water around my feet. be a MAJOR RECALL situation.

Initially we had the previous model, (Bought it from Harvey Norman as the "Latest" Model), which leaked from Brand New & Westinghouse couldn't fix it, so replaced it with the then NEW Model. (Thanks Harvey Norman, have never been back to you since & NEVER will).

The previous Model had a join in the water pipe under the bottom of the fridge at the front, which was an "Issue" in itself, so Westinghouse in their wisdom decided to twist the water line under the front hinge on the next Model. Seems like a "Good Idea" until it proves itself not to be.

WHAT is the answer is really my question?

I don't really want to have to pay some "Technician" $150.00 per hour to fix it.

Sticky black Substance leaking from bottom of fridge and freezer – We purchased this fridge/freezer in 2013, it has been working fine, however over the past month it has started to ooze a black gooey substance at the bottom, it is impossible to clean and looks really unsightly. Ice Maker doesn't seem to be working consistently – Hi, we've had a WSE6970SF for just over 12 months. We've noticed in the last six months the ice maker has slowed in producing ice. At the beginning it was easily refilling the dispenser bucket within a 24hr period however, now it takes several days. This is frustrating as it's one of the main reasons we purchased this model. VERY DISAPPOINTING - Poor Quality – Seem to have well known problems. Cracking inside the fridge and freezer. Purchased extended 4Y warranty which expired 6.2.16 so Product Care were unable to help today. They put me through to Westinghouse but instead of a Rep I only got a prerecorded msg "due to unforeseen circumstances we are unable to help you today". Reading many more reviews… Read more

of unhappy customers makes me wonder if Westinghouse even want to talk to me to try and sort something out? This is by no means an old product..
