Westinghouse 700L Side by Side WSE7000 Series Questions & Answers
VerifiedHave a Westinghouse WSE7000WF fridge/freezer. When the door is opened the light, blue control light and fan flash on and off continually. The motor is working and the freezer is ok. How can this be rectified. Thanks.
We have Black Tar like substance leaking from both bottom of fridge and freezer doors and the control panel is stuck on Fahrenheit, also the panel will not respond when the buttons are pushed. All food in the fridge are freezing.
Yes we have that tar stuff too. What makes me angry is Westinghouse knew about this and didn’t recall. Happy to take our money
My fridge has not been keeping drinks cold and today I have thrown away the third bottle of milk that has spoiled. Temperature in freezer is -17C, and in fridge, 0C. Ice in the tray in the freezer defrosted at the top of the freezer but the bottom of the freezer seems fine. I cleared the freezer out last night thinking it was the problem (as the top food defrosted) but seems fine today (removed small amount of ice). Fridge, however, has not fixed overnight. Possibly too much food in the fridge but no more than usual. Can you help? Had similar problem in 2021 so wondering if worth fixing and paying $$$ given the fridge purchased in 2013. Thank you. M.
I have a WSE7000SE Fridge/Freezer that I have changed a blown globe in the fridge but the globe is staying on when I close the door, looking for the door switch?
The fridge gets very hot between the two doors.

We had the same experience. Guy come out to cover the leak with white silicon. After a while the leak has come back. Westinghouse offered a new fridge at a discount price but we only had a choice of Westinghouse and not any another brand. As this is clearly a defective product, I am disgusted that Westinghouse has not recalled this model and replaced it with a new model fridge. I will never buy a Westinghouse fridge ever again.
I have brown ooze leaking from bottom of fridge, how do I fix it
you cant mate contact Westinghouse they will send a bloke to fix it before long it will do it again the bloke came out again in our case and sent a report saying we should get a prorate replacement which they approved we are now waiting fir the new one google this its a design fault there are heaps out there with the same issue
Thanks Mate for your reply, much appreciated
You can’t stop the gunk oozing. We had it fixed by Westinghouse but it still continued. I tried everything to clean it off but nothing worked. We had to have the seals replaced eventually. But…the guy who replaced them said to spread a little vaseline on the seals and that would help to prolong their life. And I discovered that vaseline actually dissolves the gunk. So what I do now is scrape away any build up with a knife every 4 weeks or so and then use a dollop of vaseline and a kitchen scouring pad to wipe away any residue. If there’s any on the seals I use an old toothbrush to clean them. Then smear some vaseline on the seals themselves and you’re good for another month.
Am I happy with having to do that? Not really, but it only takes 3 or 4 minutes a month and that’s saving me a couple of grand replacing the whole fridge. Which, apart from the gunk, works just fine.
Westinghouse said they’d replace the whole thing with a discount on the cost of another a similar model as it was a few years old. Their ‘discount’ price was more than I could have bought it at Good Guys.
But hey, it is what it is. I can take them to court with all the hassle that entails. Or I spend a few minutes now and then maintaining it. Option 2 for me…
Why is my Fridge Light keep going Off and On
My fridge motor/compressor has recently started turning on and off very 5 seconds. When opening the doors, the motor/fan is running, then after about 5 seconds the motor stops, then after another few seconds it starts again. The fridge and freezer are still cold but this on/off of the motor needs to be fixed. I have cleaned the fluff and dust off the fan and coils, this did not fix the issues. Any assistant would be great.
Hi,I am having the same problem, did you manage to sort it?
Me too. What was the issue?
I am having the exact same problem - did you sort this out?
Mine too. What was the fix
How to remove side shelves from 700 litre fridge?
My door seals are really hot,bis this normal? It's also really hot at the bottom part of the back of the fridge.
Trying to put the crisper and lid back together after cleaning. The sliding arms seem to move and it is not quite coming together
i pulled my Side by Side WSE7000SF (Stainless Steel) fridge out from wall the clean the floor and could not believe how filthy it was. dust on coils looks like its been there for 15 years and i havent had fridge in this place for even 3 years. i also think cockroach infestation under there somewhere. please does anyone have any advice or what i should do to clean it out. there is a tray under there but i don't seem to be able to take it out.
I’m not aware that you CAN take the tray out :-/ When the beast was finally removed form my kitchen last week, the removalists were surprised how much water poured out over the floor from that tray. (Another design flaw - other fridges have some degree of drainage, I think.)
Show me the correct temperature to be at the fridge side and the frizer side
I have a white Westinghouse WSE7000WE Inside the freezer cracked just out of warranty but it still works perfectly, now a few years later it has decided to have an alarm go off for no reason, the doors are closed and sealing properly. It is also adjusting the temperature on the freezer all by itself, I usually have it set at -18 but have now had to change it three times to have it not be colder. Turning off the fridge seems to reset the constant beeping for a little while but it just decides to start again later. Is this the control panel being now faulty? I love my fridge and cannot afford a new one
Living in Australia.... I need to buy and fit a replacement RH door seal on my Westinghouse/Electolux WSE7000WE 2-door refigerator. I thought that by lifting the seal I would see a row of screws to remove and take off the old seal......nothing there????? So, how do I get to remove the seal??? Thanks for any tips.
Did you get it sorted Keef ? I need to also change seals
I just had local service people out to deal with both the seals and the failing freezer (9 years old); they told me that there are no parts to replace the door seals and you have to get special people out to 'form' the seal on site! Further more - before I had the information on who they were - was later told that the freezer element had failed as a result of the original design flaw in the fridge. Apparently, approx, five times too much black 'mastic' (sealant) is filled into the cavity between the compartments, causing a cyclical problem where the one issue exacerbates the other. Oh yes, and apparently the element and it's associated parts can't be replaced anymore. I AWAIT A RESPONSE from Westinghouse but if I have no luck, it will be another of these appalling fridges rendered useless after only a few years, requiring not only removalist fees, tip fees and a refrigerant removal (degassing) fee.
Hi, 5 year old WSE7000SF. Over the last few months the centre has gradually getting hot to the touch. Anyone else have this problem? Does it need a technician ? Not happy Jan !
Contact Westinghouse, mine did the same and died 3 days before Christmas last year. If its on carpet put something under the door because the black tar like substance is coming! My parents has the same fridge also died.
Many thanks
I had the same thing some years ago. It was a simple fan replacement.
Hi there, My westinghouse fridge which about 4 years old seems to be getting really hot in the middle part of the fridge between the freezer and the fridge and the door seal as well. It is so hot that when my 4 year old son was standing at the fridge and touched it he started crying. It doesn't seem to be safe and I'm worried that that it could be faulty and dangerous to leave on. I have read that many people have experienced the same problem with this model. Quite disappointed actually especially after being on hold with westinghouse for over an hour and then got then got disconnected when someone picked up, i also left my number twice for them to call back and they did not return the call.
Hi, we have a Westinghouse WSE7000SF, Serial Number 33618189. Love the fridge, not sure exactly how old nut you will know from the serial number. We have black sticky goo coming out of the metal joins at the bottom of the freezer and fridge body which sticks to the closed doors. What is it and what do I do???

Light globe stay on all time sensor works with blue light bot not 40w globe why?
I have a WSE700SA fridge/freezer with an error message CN ER. Can someone let me know what this is all about please, thank you.
Hi Grace, l have recently started gettibg the same message. Did you ever get the issue resolved.
My French door Westinghouse did the same thing, the tech came out and knew what it was straight away since apparently it's a very common issue with them. If unplugging it for 30 minutes doesn't fix it, the problem will be a faulty PCB control box. The part is about $250 and wasn't in stock so I ordered one and swapped it out myself. (Easy 10 minute fix).
