After 16 years of hard work, Whirlpool ADP6000IX dishwasher started getting error codes at the beginning of washing cycle. We bought it in 2009 on Central Coast, with serial number SAA090620EA. Never troubled us until this weekend. I cannot remember the shop where we bought it or the price. But I do know that it was very reasonably priced… Read more
because my partner does not believe in expensive kitchen machines.
Water in the NSW coastal area where the dishwasher resides is quite hard, and the dishwasher handled it perfectly well.
No repairs, no parts replaced, and no special maintenance for 16 years.
We used the dishwasher with full loads and the results were always very satisfactory. I guarantee it because my partner is very picky about cleanliness and hygiene.
insain interior design and door is rusting – Does plates , cutlery and glasses OK but only on pot scrub. Wont clean any pots at all and forget frypans. Inside and outside of door rusting which is unreal for a dishwasher. Design is unforgivable as you have to lay large dinner plates reverse on slots so centre rotor doesn't hit the plates; this design is insain.
The worst dishwasher we have ever had – Bought the dishwasher new. It rarely cleans all the dishes in one wash. Even two washes do not always result in clean dishes! Sometimes the tablet does not completely dissolve. I don't think the water gets hot enough to carry out a good wash. We always have to rewash some plates and on occasion have had to rewash the entire load due to a greasy… Read more
covering on the dishes. At the start, we just about cleaned all the dishes before putting them in to see if that would fix the problem but no, the same result. We tried 4 different detergents but this made little difference. Don't waste your money.

Very reliable and econ friendly dishwasher! – It cleans my kitchen stuff with no issue and has been working perfectly fine without a single turn down on me since I moved in! The top tray is removable for bigger stuff, like those in my oven. The water consumption is relatively low compared to other older models. For the value, I think it does a great job! Show details
Great washer!! 5 stars – I moved into an apartment 4 months ago the dishwasher came with it. Haven’t had a problem with it, haven’t had this error message, has always washed all the dishes on both racks cutlery included. Easy to clean, I always rinse dishes before putting them in the washer. It makes my life much easier and stress free. Show details
Error 2 – We recently had the washer throw and error 2. Like others have reported the issue is the machine holding water. I guess several issue could cause this. Ours was caused by the propeller coming off the water pump shaft, causing the machine to be unable to pump the water out. 9 screws later and the problem was fixed. Overall for the neglect this machine has suffered it has held up quite well. Show details

Worst dishwasher I have ever owned – Just moved into a house and this dishwasher was already installed. It has a small capacity and when full, will not clean all the plates and dishes; there is often food left on them requiring them to be hand washed. It does not always dissolve the dishwasher tablets. The top tray does not have enough spikes to hold cups, so they fall off the… Read more
supposed cup / glass holdingarea unless wedged there with other crockery. Cutlery basket can’t be moved to accommodate larger plates. Can’t wait to replace this awful appliance. It is much louder than my former dishwasher.
The worst dishwasher ever – This dishwasher can’t wash dishes to save Itself especially the top shelf it’s the absolute worst product I’ve ever brought so frustrating. Even when we rinse dishes first it still struggles badly. Hate hate hate it enough said.. Show details
Cheap but you get what you pay for – It was cheap but we had an issue with draining which recurred 3 times. It cleaned very well though. It wasn't the quietest washer I've ever had but it wasn't overly loud. Thankfully the dealer replaced it under warranty for us and that was a relatively pain free experience. In hindsight, you pay for quality.... Show details

Faulty Design – This dishwasher is so badly designed that the detergent dispenser does not open properly due to the top tray obstructing it during the wash cycle. The dishes are never completely clean - I have to throw the powder into the machine for it to even reach the dishes. The dishes on the top tray often come out as dirty as when they went in! Excellent Dishwasher – We had this dishwasher for 9 years, & it never broke down until this week. The heating element has gone, & the water pump has a leak. So sad... But it is time for a new one, this dishwasher cleaned the dishes quite well, but sometimes you had to rewash some plates or cutlery, so as good as this machine was, we wil not buy a whirpool this time. Thanks lexie. Xxx Show details
Garbage with a Capital W – This is probably the biggest crap I've ever purchased. Keeps coming up with the Error 2 message. That's it for me - will never buy a Whirlpool ever again and as an electrician - I will NEVER recommend Whirlpoo to any customer. Sell a poor product - expect your image to be tarnished for Life ! Not bad for the price - frustrating seal wear and not cleaning well at all by the end – At first it seemed like a good fit - good look and feel - easy operation - after a year of use it became apparent that the top rack was not cleaning dishes well despite doing all the required maintenance (cleaning the filters and arms). Over the 5 years we owned this washer it was fairly good but in the last year the seals were getting caught on… Read more
the door (despite hours re-attaching and try different adhesives) and the lower rack pots and pans coming up dirty. When you have to thouroughly pre-rinse every item before placing it in the dishwasher you begin to wonder why have the dishwasher at all.
Replaced with a BOSCH.

Great dishwasher – I don't know why people are so adverse to this product I bought mine for 40 dollars and it has been fantastic. I had a Miele before and sure it was amazing but this dishwasher is up there. Very rarely have to wash anything again. I use Aldi tablets and they work great. Dont over suds it and keep the filter clean. I usually fill it right up and put… Read more
it on the long cycle. Empty and rinse the filter every 2 to 3 weeks. I have had it error 2 a couple of times. Turn it off at the switch and restart it. Normally sorts itself out but if not rinse the filter.
You are all a pack of whingers – Ive had this dishwasher 2nd hand since 2011, gets used basically every 2nd to 3rd night, family of 5, never missed a beat. yeah the bottom tray is a bit if s let down but even the best dishwashers around you can still point out downfalls. Seems like people jump on review sites to have a whinge you rarely see positives because those people are not… Read more
bothered having a whinge. my dishwasher is worth the 5 stars. I use pretty acidic bore water and its just powered through everything thrown at it. i use powder also not stupid tablets!!!! I dont think im the only person out there with a gem there would be thousands just as good!
Broke just out of warranty – Never been happy with this product. The cleaning quality has been below average to average at best. I always look after my products extremely well and I get frustrated when they break just outside of warranty. So frustrating. Now this dishwasher has just passed outside of warranty and has broken, needing to be replaced. Not happy Whirlpool. Show details
Error 3 – Does not clean well...tablets do not dissolve 20% of the time...difficult to take a part when you have replace the inlet valve...now getting the Error 3 message and cannot find anything online on how to DIY for this specific model.. the 5 year warranty period.
Discovered the cleaning problem, water level does not fill to proper level, i need to add 2 litres of water for both rinse and wash cycles.
Yes .. You can adjust the top rack (upwards) – I bought this machine about 5 yrs ago for my investment Apt for use by "short term" tenants. I moved in permanently myself almost 4 yrs ago & have only used the machine "once every blue moon" to keep it ticking over. Have always been frustrated by not being able to fit proper sized plates upright in the lower rack because the upper spray arm… Read more
attached to the top rack would hit them & therefore could not properly turn/spin.
Have read all of the reviews on this site up to the end of page 5 & noted the advice from others claiming the top rack can be adjusted upwards to allow room for normal plates below.
Despite reading these claims I still couldn't see how this adjustment could be done .. until I read the helpful review by KAM7 on page 5 dated 12/12/11,where he says ... "pull out the top rack. At the back of the top rack on the outside of the rack there is a handle. Pull out & lift & push in".
Whilst I am so grateful for that sensible common sense explanation by KAM7 I have to tell you it is not entirely exactly accurate.
At the risk of sounding pedantic to be successful you also need to know .. there are in fact TWO horizontal clip on type handles at the back of the rack and actually on THE SIDES at the back of the rack. There is a horizontal clip on handle on each side of the rack .. one on the left & one on the right ... (1 & 1 = 2 clip on handles).
Think about it ... obviously you need one clip on handle on each side, (the left side & the right side), because if you adjusted just one the rack would end up lopsided. Common sense tells you to adjust the clip on handle on each side so it is level.
Once you pull out the rack, (as KAM7 says to do), just look on each side towards the back end of the rack & you will see a type of horizontal clip on handles, one on the left side & one on the right side .. unclip the handle on each side & adjust to the new position & clip back into place both clip on handles.
Hallelujah! ... yes, it can be adjusted. Maybe now I will use the dishwasher more often & later do a proper review of its overall performance.
Beware of Whirlpool – Does not clean dishes well. Have to rinse them after each cycle. The tablet does not dispense automatically ? Have had for a little over two years, will never buy whirlpool product again !! Now it has stopped heating, the element packed up - so out it goes to metal recycling !
Worst dishwasher ever manufactured – Didn't even want to give it a 1 star. Basket at the bottom is terrible continually comes off the tracks and pulls on the rubber seal. No wonder this has been discontinued! Doesn't clean glasess well, have needed to hand wash these for the time we have had this disaster!
OK. Better than standing at the sink doing the dishes! – Lower basket is crap. Catches the seals and drags them out with it. Dissolves the tablets most of the time but not all, on any wash cycle.
Probably not a good idea – This dishwasher came with the house. After about a year or two old it stopped washing. When I dragged it out the drain hose shattered, it was extremely brittle and I guess there would be a good chance of all the water being pumped on the floor causing considerable damage. The fault was the condenser on the main motor and it worked after it… Read more
was replaced - it was a big job to pull it apart and get it replaced though.
The cutlery basket is biodegradable and had to be replaced. The door catch then latched incorrectly and the door had to be pulled apart and the catch reset. The wheels on the top tray are dissolving and now keep falling off and dropping the top tray.
The machine is relatively quiet, but this may because it doesn't really wash the dishes, especially those in the top tray. The electronics work well and I have used it on delay start for five years no issues.
As others have mentioned it is difficult to fit things in the bottom tray if the top tray is in the lower position. Vice versa in the top position. Also you have to cable tie the catch to keep it in the top position otherwise the tray will fall down, the wonky wheels will come off, the rails will drop and it will all end in tears...

Sorry we bought it – We have never been able to wash normal size dinner plates in it and as a result it is just about a kitchen ornament. We do use it occasionally and now it's developed a leak. Probably only done a few washes and now it's headed for the dump. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
Really look after it and work around its limitations to get the best from this machine – The ADP6000IX I have was part of an appliance package in an apartment I have been in for 2 years. The machine (and building) is about 5 years old. It was in a terrible state when we moved in - rotator arms stuck with grease and food particles, dirty and grimy throughout, etc. It took a lot of resurrecting! Since then, it has not broken down and… Read more
seems ok mechanically/technically. I get the impression it is the cheap brand. It looks nice. You really have to look after it and work around its limitations to get the best from it. I owned a 20 year old Bosch before this which was a mile better but about 10x the price back then and 2-4x to buy new these days. Key observations:
- cheap plastic baskets and wheels mean the baskets must be pushed in gently with even pressure on both sides or they twist and/or come off the tracks
- plenty of space between dishes and no overstacking or baskets twist or the wash isn't very good
- possible design fault that results in the detergent door not opening fully when released at the wash cycle. It catches on the top basket, even when basket is fully pushed back into the machine. Detergent tablets usually seem to fall out ok.
- needs regular cleaning (baking soda and white vinegar added to hot wash stage of heavy duty cycle)
- regular size (old Mikasa brand) dinner plates don't fit in bottom drawer if top draw is in low position
- not much fits in top drawer if it is in higher position (in order to fit plates in lower position!)
- use top quality dishwasher tablets. We use Fairy brand.
- leave door ajar at end of cycle, allowing steam to escape and dishes will dry properly (except plastic)
- we don't really attempt truly filthy pots or pans in the machine (eg. Baked on food)
The Whirlpool oven in our appliance package leaves a lot to be desired too. But that's another story. And like everything, expensive isn't always better - but often is. There are some really crummy expensive products out there too!
No Childlock biggest problem – I've had this dishwasher for almost 5 years. It runs decently but isn't the best option to buy. My 2 main problems with this unit is that: 1. It does not have a childlock- in a house of toddlers where my kid turns it off just 20 min left for the cycle. 2. The cycle length is too long and based on my problem 1 can't help but have to run whole cycle again if accidentally stopped midway.
My experience with this dishwasher – I am 67 years old, and my experience since my early childhood with whirlpool was nothing less than outstanding. I replaced the dishwasher when we moved in to our current home, because of previous experience with whirlpool with an adp6000wh. Talk about a disaster. This is even worse than the top rated ASEA heap of garbage that we had previously. … Read more
The dishwasher does the washing job, no problems. The issue is that the cutlery basket gets holes at will and when new, and the rollers fall off constantly. The rollers are difficult to put back on, so I do not understand why they come off. Anyway, I am over it. The dishwasher goes over the tip tomorrow, and I will buy a new one. Whirlpool is out.
Very poor – It's now 5 years old (came with the property) and all the rollers are popping off or broken, which really isn't good enough. It's never cleaned or dried very well and the filter gums up too quickly. Powder tablets don't dissolve in the dispenser - need to be put in the bottom. Rack space is not well arranged and the up/down top rack seems… Read more
gimmicky. Will be junked and replaced with something fit for purpose. Had negative experiences with another Whirlpool in a rental so staying away from this brand in the future.
WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK – You may be considering this and thinking "hmmm...this is cheap" But believe me, it's cheap for a reason AND YOU WILL REGRET IT, Firstly, it doesn't wash the dishes properly, nor does it dry them, you have to hand dry the dishes when it's finished The handle to open the door snapped off only a few months after purchase The bottom rack keeps… Read more
falling off the rails, so you have to keep lifting it back up, and the the wheels keep popping off
It's loud...and I mean LOUD!!!
you have to put it on before you go to bed as the noise is unbearable otherwise.
It's just a cheap piece of junk!!
Do yourself a favour, and spend a little extra money and buy a reputable brand
Shocking! Shocking! Shocking – Worst dishwasher I have ever used. Doesn't wash properly on any cycle! Rubber side seals push out if bottom basket slightly off centre. Bottom basket won't hold normal size plates. Neither powder or tablets dissolve properly during a wash. Bottom basket drops back off runners unless you put pressure on the front of the basket when sliding (or should I say pushing) in. Awful product! Can't wait to get rid of it!
Cheap Pile of rubbish – Very Poor washes, have only ever been able to use the heavy program setting, and even then it fails to clean most of the time. Machine tends to eject tablets without dissolving them. Had repeatedly dumped water out all over the floor with error 3's and 4's So I pulled it apart and cleaned the float. This helped until the high pressure hose from… Read more
the pump to the bowl popped off due to a nasty crimped clamp that was loose from the factory fell off.. Fixed this and a month later the hose on the other side done the same thing. (flooded floors once again) Pulled apart again and re-clamped all hoses with decent clamps. (this happens just as you hear the high pressure crank in and then you have water running out as the unit drains its entire contents) Has been good since except it doesn't wash the dishes and ejects the tablet out every second load. Also had an issue where it would power off and not come back on. Had to remove front panel and tighten things, thought it was the fuse.. Just turned out to be a temperamental piece of junk. Nothing fits into the racks, if you overload it something always hits the rotors and it is just a waste of a cycle... All of the rollers have fallen off the slides on the drawer slides. So they want to fall out everywhere.
This machine has been the reason that I vow to never buy a cheap dishwasher again. If I had to pay someone to fix this we would have spent thousands and been without a dishwasher. I wouldn't give this away... The only place for it is the tip. I will use it till if dies, or I at least get a decent life out of it.. But after reading comments I better throw it out before it catches fire!!!
Don't waste your money! – Bought this machine expecting a quality product from a respected manufacturer. How disappointed I have been. Clouding of Glass ware, unable to clean a pot and always an unsatisfactory wash. At best i will say it is a Glass rinser (that's after you have washed them by hand). The dry cycle is a min 42 min, even on the lowest 1 hour 25 min wash,… Read more
and then still does not do the job. Always spotting as it uses a steam drying cycle. I have put up with it for long enough - it is going in the rubbish (not even going to give it away). On this model there should be a Class action against Whirlpool.
Cheap, does the job – Really can't fault this product. It is not a 2000 dollar dishwasher, it was 450. More than value for money. Ours is 4 years old and still going strong. Good features include the adjustable top rack and removable wine glass holders. Had one error 4 in its 4yrs, which was due to my wife loading a whole tray of mashed pumpkin into it. Woops. error 4… Read more
is the float being stuck all the way up, quick clean and a jolt to drop the float. All fixed.
As far as some complaints go tablet box does open. We use finish quantum, no problems. Just don't put something into the spot where it opens (top deck)
As far as error codes, no worries with mine. I find it helps to read the instruction manual rather than have constant (contestant...) problems
my two cents
The Worst Dishwasher – Worst dishwasher we have ever owned, we would like our money back & all the repair costs too! Never washed well, never worked efficiently, just a waste of money, top sliding rack doesn't slide properly and the bottom doesn't align straight to close the door, will never buy whirlpool again. not impressed..trouble from the first day it was white everything
Bad dishwasher – I've had my whirlpool adp60000wh for 4 yrs and it has never worked properly it doesn't dry the dishes and am constantly getting error 2 messages and today got the error 4 message I'm over it definitely would NOT recommend this dishwasher we are going to buy a new one ASAP
Fire , sparks and smoke. nearly burnt the house down – It worked well, probably around 7 years old. oneday came home and sparks , flames and smoke coming out from front panel. big fire danger. get rid of it if you have it. search whirlpool dishwasher fire there is a fair amount to read. it looks like its common on different types and brands aswell. It washed dishes ok Total fire hazard
