Edited : 2026 as I've changed my opinion over time. I purchased this vacuum approximately two years ago and have found that it has performed really well for the price. It has some good attributes like being bagless and an easy cleaning system and large collection bin. It's lightweight and has good ergonomics and quite a strong motor and a very… Read more
easy emptying system..
Some designs on it could be improved though from the cord which winds back on itself even if wound from the vacuum end or the tip. The flat suction head wheels can bind up with hair and other detritus very easily given their tiny radius. It was used in a home shed environment around woodworking and I'd consider it a reliable vacuum for the price.
Had my first Work Hero Cd2 a little over 12 months. I had been using it at work at our commercial cleaning jobs, and it appeared to work pretty well on hard surfaces until it shorted out on the cord and "burnt out." I purchased a 2nd one which I've only had since late November last year and over half the cord has twisted and the cleaner itself gets… Read more
extremely hot, even on carpeted surfaces. I contacted the retailer who more or less implied that it was not a manufacturing fault but the "end user," and would not be covered under warranty which is only 6 months anyway. That's pretty poor considering it's described as a "commercial cleaner." I would be very reluctant to recommend this to anyone who does commercial cleaning given my experience/s using it. As the cost of having the cord replaced is around the $100 mark which is about 50% of the retail price I have opted to replace with a PacVac which offers a 2 year warranty, is at a similar price point and has 5 star reviews.
Constantly overheats and won't work! – I bought this thing to vacuum my sheds: it has an overheat cut-out mechanism where it stops if the motor gets hot. The trouble is that it overheats and stops after a few minutes, and then I have to wait at least a half hour before I can use it again... and then it soon stops again!!! Most of the time it's unusable! Do not buy this worthless pile of junk; it's a waste of money. Mine is on its way to the tip. Show details
Had it for 1 year. Then had a burning smell – Had it 1 year. Worked well until it made a burning smell. Called Godfreys but apparently only has a 3 month warranty. Only used to vacuum car, so not used enough for it to burn out. Would not recommend buying one. Put me off buying any more products from Godfreys. The cord is non existent which I knew about when I bought it. Used with an extension cord. Worked well until it burnt out. Show details
Very dissatisfied – Bought this March 2022. After using first time unit got very hot after only a few minutes of vacuuming. It burns your hand holding it by handle. Using in confined areas like a car means the air coming out is so hot that you need to have the unit outside. Not very convenient. Power cord length non existent so you need to carry a long extension lead wherever you go. No small vacuum head. Show details
SECOND TIME AROUND – This is our second Work Hero The first one lasted for about 5 years. It blew up through no fault of it's own. We had an electrical fault and the RCD did not work. This little vacuum was used in the house, the shed (I do a lot of woodwork etc) plus cleaning the cars. Also we have a grubby Bulldog. I have no problem with recommending the Work Hero. Show details
Too many flaws – This vacuum is 50/50 for me Pros.. good suction, lightweight, easy to clean Cons.. the cord is very poor quality and it gets caught up on everything and gets kinks etc in it. Plus there’s nowhere really to store the cord unless you wrap it around but I do a lot of cleaning and don’t want to waste time winding/unwinding. The wheels underneath… Read more
are terrible, it constantly tips over or runs over the cord and drags it along. Lastly mine just blew up. I turned it on and sparks came out from where the cord comes from. Not surprisingly they only have a 6 month warranty and I bought it early this year so no go now. I don’t think I’d recommend it unless the price was a lot cheaper. It’s too expensive for the hassle and quality
Product ok. GODFREYS Customer Service not – Bought 5 months ago. This week I took the machine back to the store to have the cord replaced under warranty as it was starting to 'kink' and the inner electrical wires had become exposed in parts of the cord. I have only ever wound up the cord and stored it over the included hook as shown to me by 2 separate sales consultants.... I was told that… Read more
the cord was not covered under warranty and was blamed for damaging the cord!! I called consumer affairs who agree that the damaged cord should be covered by both the 6 month warranty and a product guarantee, as outlined in consumer law. However Godfrey's refused to honour this and their customer service offered zero help. It cost me almost $90 to fix and I needed the vacuum for work so had little option! I am disappointed in Godfrey's (the vacuum is their own brand). Not good customer service. Rude staff.
Better than any other - and the cheapest! – We needed a vacuum to zip around the warehouse floor just to keep it tidy, so I wanted a light, compact and cheap one as it was just going on a concrete floor with typical warehouse messes...nothing large or heavy. This was about $150 from godfreys and is the best vacuum we've ever owned! This thing lives up to its name! It's a Hero! We now take… Read more
it home when we want to give the floors a thorough clean as the Dyson cordless we have is ok, but not like the Work Hero. It sucks like no other vacuum I've ever seen! And we only got this one because it was the cheapest! But it's the bestest! If we ever come across spare change, I'd even get another one to keep at home also.
I also love the little storage area it has for the extra heads....everything is in one single unit...I love it!

Still can’t kill the Work Hero – 2 years have passed I have dropped the work hero vacuum cleaner broken the top around the switch, and it still goes! Talk about Work Hero, tuff as nails, never had a vacuum like it. Show details
Good work horse – I purchased this vacuum in February this year for my domestic cleaning business. The suction is fantastic, it takes a long time to fill, and it doesn’t need bags, which means it’s cheap to run. It was a great price for a commercial vac too. I haven’t found the cord to be too short as other people have commented, so perhaps this was changed along… Read more
the way, as those reviews are dated. It loses a star for the exhaust, which blows quite hard out the front of the machine, meaning pet hair and the like (don’t point it at open fireplace!) get blown around on hard floors. It would be better if the exhaust pointed to the back, or straight up to the ceiling. I’d also prefer that the standard head was dual-purpose to go between hard floors and carpets with a click. When I first started using it, it used to grab at hard floors and a piece of rubber came off it.
Vacuum you can't kill – Have been using vacuum to dig holes in a sandy location. Vacuums sand up 2 metre below ground. Would have sucked up well over 300 kg of sand and still works well. Best work shop vac I have ever had the bag filter is easy to clean. Great performance for so little money, it's easier to vacuum the pavers with this vacuum rather than sweeping. Would buy another one, no problem. Show details
I got this 1 year ago...the suction was excellent...but it did worked just one year..and stopped wor – I got this vacuum cleaner about one year ago..i was using it everyday because i got a 2 bed room house with carpet..the suction of the vacuum cleaner was brilliant but it just worked for 1 year..and now i have to buy something again..the manufacturer should increase the warranty its just 3 months or 6 months.. Know better, choose better.
Recomended – Originally purchased for the shed - but use everywhere. No bags, very large bin - very simple to use, very powerful I recommend it. I have used Dyson and miele vacuum cleaners and this is as good, can be used everywhere. Does not loose suction does not need too be emptied for months Show details
magic little machine – It was bought for the shed, But tried it in the house first. We could not believe the amont of fine dust it picked up after our house vaccuum. Now it gets pinched from the shed all the time. It cleans up the cars, and our mororhome seats and removes the fine dog hair, like majic. The only downside is the plastic clips that hold the canister on. They need to be tighter. Otherwise, it's perfect ! Hicky. Show details
This one is ALL you need – This vaccuum cleaner has a 10 metre cord, low power 1200W motor performing suction better than that of a 2400W vaccuum cleaner. I have used three different dyson and miele vaccuum cleaners and found this Work Hero is as good as one of the dyson and easily beats the other three in picking up pet hair and dust ! No bags to buy, contents go into the… Read more
large round tin which some may find emptying to be a little unhygienic because the opening is so wide. ie you don't need to empty it as often as the smaller vaccuum cleaners. I paid 160 dollars for it which is fair price for a vaccuum cleaner that does the job! It is still going strong with no imperfections although I have used it so much.
Lives up to its name – The Work Hero vacuum cleaner is very powerful and has great attachments. And no bags. It's perfect for cleaning the car! Small and easy to move around and the attachments allow you to reach places that most others don't. You do need an extension cord to use it - the cord on the vacuum cleaner is very short. Overall great for the garage, car or anywhere.
Very powerful and easy to use – No bags, simple to use, not as noisy as expected, very powerful I can't fault it. If I was to reduce any stars for anything it would be the cord is very short (but it's an industrial vacuum cleaner you're expected to byo required extension lead) and if you pull it around too fast it could topple over. Also I found the tube to be too short for me so I have to hunch over a bit (180cm).
Beats Dyson hands down – I ended up buying 4 of this vacs and I am not sorry, it picks up everything I ask it to do. Great to use and so simple from dust to leaves, dog hair and anything in between. One thing I noticed that it doesnt loose suction. It is advertised as a industrial vac but is so perfect for the home and no noisier that a normal vacuum cleaner I loved it from the moment is started Not a real problem but you need to have a extension cord
