Xiaomi mobile phones – The Xiaomi phone WiFi LTE now does not work in Australia (starting from November 2014.. Cannot make phone calls and cannot receive calls. I bought it from Banggood and told it was an international version With 4G LTE
Excellent Bang for Buck – Don’t know if you could get a better phone for this price. I got the base 6/128 GB (which is more than enough for an average user) for $270 AUD delivered from Bangood. It took two weeks to be delivered from HK Warehouse, you might get it faster if you order from their AU warehouse. It came with AU plug. The price fluctuates at times. So look out for offers at Ozbargain.
The main highlight of the phone is of course it’s Snapdragon 860 processor flagship grade processor from 2019 that still beats today’s upper midrange smartphones. Never had any issues, never had a lag which is quite surprising. I’ve been using it for the last six months. I get around 6-7 hours of screen time with battery saver mode with 4G turned on which is crazy! You could get even more! The display has a 120Hz support so you could view the content smooth. It does not get very bright when using under very lit situations.. but more than enough for indoor use. The pictures from the camera are not the best but it’s no where near worst. Just install GCam from XDA.. and once you get used to it you could get awesome shots. The speakers are very good too for content consumption, it has stereo speakers. The MIUI software is alright to use, I think its one of the best polished Android UI out there. Just make sure to disable ads once you set up the phone. It has NFC so you could use payment apps in store using Google Pay. It has a 3.5 headphone jack, MicroSD card slot (which has been a must have for me), IR blaster, FM Radio, 33W fast charging, IP53 dust & splash protection and many more features. It’s a performance powerhouse. It’s quite to hefty to hold at 215 grams. It even came with a case and a charger inside the box!
Just see reviews from the web for more details. I’d highly recommend this phone to anyone looking for a phone under $500 or anyone looking to buy previous year second hand flagship phones. It’s crazy value for money for a new phone. I don’t think there has been a phone I have been more impressed by the price. I just wish it was available in our physical stores, so people could stop paying high prices for sub par phones and get more use out of their phones without compromising performance and features. Hoping to see more devices like this from Xiaomi.
Just buy the Spigen Rugged Armor case and a tempered glass for under $30 from eBay and you’re set.
Purchased in at Banggood for $270.
I bought 3 for my family! – Since I am stranded overseas I might as well take advantage of the local sales. Bought 1 originally and it was not at the cheapest price. But used it and despite a few negative comments published on the quality of the display and the casing, it is an incredibly powerful phone both in terms of processing power and battery. I am not a gamer but the 8/256 gives me plenty of storage and processing power. I don't like switching phones so this will last me for a while. I have been having Max 2 and Max 3 before and they are both very good phones. I no longer buy other brands because XM phones are so reliable and durable. Thank you XM! Keep up the good work! There are people who like a good quality affordable phone.
Purchased in for $340.
Bargain – For AU $340 from Banggood. Top knotch specs. Yes screen quality cannot be compared to Samsung but hey for that price I shouldn't complain. 120hz at budget prices is extremely rare
Purchased in at Banggood for $340.
Very minor drawbacks, great overall – This has been a good phone so far. I was well aware of its foibles and possible shortcomings when I bought, but will touch on these anyway: Display. The unfavourable press regarding the LCD display is a little overblown. I expected it to be less bright than the comparable AMOLED (it is), and for the viewing angles and blacks to be diminished somewhat (they are). But overall, pretty good, especially with 120Hz enabled.
Camera. Reviews were mixed, from "alright" to "disappointing"... although, after viewing all the available sample images, I went for it anyway. The camera does a perfectly good job of well-lit scenes, and areas where it's less than great (low light) are best left to a real camera anyway, regardless of what phone you might be using while you pretend to be Ken Rockwell.
Positives... it's quick, MIUI in its 12.5.1 guise is mostly bug-free (save for an annoying Spotify lock-screen notification issue I've been having), its SoC will easily see out the next couple of years, build is solid, battery life is excellent, charging is fast, IR blaster is nice to see retained, and the speakers perform well.
I've heard some whining about the lack of 5G... which you knew about before you bought this phone, anyway. 5G coverage isn't solid where I find myself most of the year, so I don't care. Ultimately, go for the Poco F3 if you absolutely must have 5G... just be prepared to pay more.
No deal-breakers, really. MIUI ads, which I've found to be minimal anyway on this Poco-specific build, are easily disabled (look it up).
Recommended, if you can get a hold of one without too much hassle.
Update: MIUI has since moved on to 12.5.4 and the lock screen notification bug for Spotify is gone since about 12.5.2, so well done there. I have also since found that most of the camera mediocrity is rectified by using a GCam port.
Purchased for $350.

I mean my Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro worked for 4 and half years. Then it does not work anymore. Pretty normal life span for a mobile phone.
