Excellent Phone – This model is now superseded. The phone is fantastic for the price paid. If you maintain it well, the phone will last. The screen occasionally freezes (once every 2 or 3 months) and I will simply just reboot the phone. Everything else is great, however the camera is not the best.  Show details

Xiamoi Redmi Note 2 – This model is now superceded but can still be picked up cheaply. Please ensure you get teh Glocal ROM rather than the Chinese one (unless you are Chinese). This is an excellent general purpose phone with a great 13 megapixel camera. It is Android with a custom skin (MIUI) and there is a great forum online for help. You can download apps from… Read more

the Play store and most work with the phone

At under $200 it is great value. One final recommendation though, don't upgrade the firmware to MIUI as it causes excessive battery use. Leave it at version 7. Also buy a cheap phone wallet and screen protector as insurance against dropping the phone.

Enjoy

After 6 months BG problems – After using the phone for 6 months is starting to show how BAD this phone really is. The telephone simply turned off by itself after using for some time. Trying to factory date reset but it simply doesn't accept my so you cannot do anything at all. Wrote many mails to this guy's but they don't care. Be aware.  Show details

Nice phone – A really nice phone with a good screen size, and it was really good for the Dual SIM card feature. However as Telstra has shut down their 2G network, the dual SIM feature is soon to be rendered useless once the remaining Telcos shut down their 2G networks as well. The battery life for this phone was very poor, often the battery would completely drain from a full charge to 0% in two days, even without using the phone at all.  Show details

Good Cheap Phone – Xiaomi Redmi 2 is a great phone, but the lack of NFC and quick charging are irksome, as its creaky case design. Ordering a Redmi Note 2 from abroad isn't without its risks and you should ensure that the company you buy it from flash it with the global ROM, but aside from that it's a pain-free experience getting the device setup.

Fantastic! – I never expected from the andoid device such a fantastic work! The previous galaxy s4 was quite disappointing! This device works so perfect! And you have it for 250 USD guys! really perfect phone! I just dont like that wifi signal does not catch so nice as galaxy's, bluetooth is fine, camera is perfect too!

A great phone. Love it – I bought my Xiaomi redmi note 2 online and received it a few days ago. I just set it up and started using it. Please note here that I selected English as the language but there was no option to select Australia in the location....I chose Thailand. I didn't need to do a custom rom on it. I added quite a few apps from Google play and then gave it a… Read more

workout. It's fast, sleek, screen clarity is very good. The camera is almost as good as my Samsung phone. And better than any camera I've had on my HTC phones. Typing up emails is quick and easy. The stock standard email app isn't that good. I put Windows outlook on it and it's now great. The battery life isn't as good as my Samsung but it's good enough. It also will hook up to free wifi easily....my Samsung doesn't always do that. I've ordered a case for it online. For the price...$186 delivered...it's amazing. I bought it for my husband to use....he may end up using the much dearer Samsung instead. I think I prefer the Xiaomi!

good phone – Once you get the phone you should flash the xiaomi.eu ROM to enable google gapps in addition to eliminating all chinese bloatware that is on the phone for the global ROM version. Pros: - Cheap and affordable - Battery is 3060maH which lasts me around 3-4hrs screen on time with wifi/4g alternating - Speaker is sound is decent - Removable… Read more

battery and expandable memory slot

- Dual sim which can be on standby 4G for both since most dual sim only allow one of the sims to be on 4G while the redmi note 2 allows both sims to be on 4g

- The ROM is clean and simple

- Screen size is satisfying since it's 5.5 inch

- The camera quality is overall decent

- The phone is easily customisable with the removable back. I've changed the default white slippery cover to a black leather cover which made the phone feel instantly more grippy. I have less worries of dropping the phone. The back cover can be also changed to any colours such as teal, white, pink, yellow since Xiaomi released a bunch of them to encourage making the phone unique to each individual.

Cons:

- Have to install custom rom (xiaomi.eu) in order for the phone to function properly

- Camera quality decreases in low lighting but this is a common trait in most phones

Ultimately, this phone is great and if you ever think of getting it. It'll be worth it.
