Awesome little moped – I really like this little moped it has good acceleration and power for its size but I am just curious about the gearbox, since it only seems to have one gear and it tops out at 38 km/h and I feel like there should at least be like a second gear or something since that is very slow. I would like to say this moped is very good since it is only used… Read more
for a purpose that it is not meant for which is around the paddocks on a farm, still doesn’t get thrashed, but it is something nice to cruise on Thank you
Great quick lightweight scooter! – Great scooter. Mine is modified expect having a stock cylinder and will reach 80km/h Often taken on rough trails and it loves it! Very lightweight and economical. Cant go wrong with a Yamaha jog for performance and reliability Show details
35,000 kms and performing as strongly as ever – Further to my review of Mar 17, 2012, at 35,000 kilometres my Yamaha Jog is still pulling as strongly away from the lights as ever with the same restricted top speed of 58kph. Only issue ever has been the internal collapse of the muffler at around 30,000 kms, replaced with an $80 second hand unit. Internals have never been touched. If only… Read more
Yamaha would reintroduce this model I would buy one tomorrow for when/(if) my Jog finally dies.
Most enjoyable and reliable of all motorcycles/scooters I have ever owned.
pocket rocket – I'm 80kg and 6.1, and this little scoot hauls arse. Not sure if mine is derestricted but I got around 68 - 70kms on the flat. The pick up is so much better than I thought. Easily leaving cars behind at the traffic lights. My wife has the 4t 2006 vino and it has nothing on mine. It's so nimble too and lightweight and runs on a sniff. If you want a quick little scoot get the cv50 jog, you won't be disappointed.
could be better – the jog at least has more top end power then the honda today 50cc which is the worst scooter that i have come across ,the grunt is better and the quality is at least better then the today.and will jog away from the honda today at the lights, tyres are a but to tiny, and the body work is a but basic.but as explained better then the today.every scooter is better then the today!!
Cheap and hassle free – Cheap and hassle free. Exceptional built quality if comparing to chinese etc. mopeds. Got mine with some 2500 kms on the clock which most of the time spent on someones backyard. Looks like it can go forever. If you ever wonder should you buy an italian scooter or some asian cheap moped - always think twice. Many of my friends regret cause they… Read more
bought some cheap new scooter and now they have issues with it. They do have issues with selling it as well. Yamaha is a brand and it will always be. Go for Jog and it won't let you down. One of three worlds fastest accelerating 50's It is not so beautiful but you get used to it
Great little scoot – Very cheap and economical - a full tank lasts me 6 weeks. Bought new, have had it for nearly three years and not one speck of trouble. I use it to travel to work and do the shopping - plenty of storage capacity. The only downside is that because it is a moped you can't drive it on a motorway, just local streets but it is a lot cheaper, and more… Read more
convenient, than riding on buses. One tip - forget chinese bikes and go with a name brand. I am only now considering upgrading to a virago as i would like to use the motorway. Its budget price, after sales service, and above all reliabilty. as a moped i can only drive it on local roads.
Fast! Hold me back! keeps up nicely with traffic – I have done about 2000km on mine now, has not missed a beat. Restricted out of the box it does 60km/hr in 8 seconds, I bought an aftermarket CDI (Computer) from New Zealand after 1000km (for breaking in the engine) and now it does 70km / hr on the flat, they tell me I'll get 80km / hr with a new sports exhaust, but 70km is fine for the roads I… Read more
ride on.
Has a luggage hook and a neat "glovebox" compartment for my sunnies, drink bottle, gloves, phone etc. The under seat compartment holds a full face helmet, my gloves, my jeans, my safety vest, my lunch, its quite large, the fuel cap is aviation style sealed.. very professional finish. ohhh $7 AUD to fill it, suddenly I have $70 a week extra in my pocket.
Its small and I am a big tall guy but it still handles like a dream. I have to put on my disguise when I ride it because I look like Magilla Gorilla - the 50cc thing, well its a little bit embarrassing (but I adore this machine!). The styling is a little bit out of date, Yamaha could do with revising it in future models.
I love this bike, but 2 up its not so great.. no Pillion pegs available and a passenger quickly gets leg cramp. My wife and I would like a bike with better pillion.
I believe Yamaha stopped production of these for the time being (they did this before in 2008 I think) .. it cost me $2200 drive away, but I have seen them for under $2000 now at the dealer. Fast pickup! buy kevlar :-) Japanese tech so VERY reliable Not designed for Pillion and a bit small for a 90kg guy
Makes me feel young again – Purchased second hand with 800Ks on odometer and have done 4000Ks in three months. Never misses a beat. Very easy to ride, park and avoid traffic jams. It's very cheap to run and I use a tank a week commuting $6. Of all the 50cc scooters it's one of the best. Efficient and easy to ride. The Yamaha manual is poor.
Good – As per previous review, though i disagree with temperature comment. I have ridden bike on 40+ degrees with road temperatures exceeding 50degrees, i had no problems. I have found the jog 50 to be extreme value for money. Great for local area transportation and city travels. As per previous review. As per previous review.
Excellent – 22,000 kms in three years and still performing strong. Starts first time whether 45° or 5°, wet or dry. Totally reliable, not even a lightbulb gone. Great fun in the Adelaide hills, although the initial ascent can knock the speed down to 30kph (I'm 80+kg). 10" wheels demand precise inputs at (Jogging) speed but this is rewarded with excellent… Read more
handling. Flipside is incredible nimbleness. The Jog is way more fun than any of the multiple litre+ bikes I've owned (BMW, Moto Guzzi, Suzuki). I get to wring it's neck everywhere without breaking the law and it keeps on coming back for more. Best motorbicycle I've ever had. Great handling and manouevrability, fast and slow speed. Gutsy. Lightweight. 100% reliable. Speed limited to 58kph (indicated). Bottom feels the bumps (fixed now with an AirHawk). Airborne sideways once with huge pothole on roundabout, which may not have been such an issue with bigger wheels but then you'd lose the nimbleness (landed safely).
Excellent – awesome, love it, would definately reccomend getting one.fuel economy is fantastic and it handles perfectly.fun to ride for weekends or go to work on awesome scooter, its fun to ride with its easy handling. hasa small appetite for fuel ans is very reliable. storage room is brilliant. the speed warning light flashes when you go over 35km hour
