Yamaha Nmax 155

Cool Scooter – A great little scooter. Mine is a 2017 model so had it for a while now. Gets up and goes off the mark, easily keeping up /leading the traffic. It can get to 100 no worries but I rarely ride it on the highway or freeway, most journeys are around the suburbs. I really like the space under the seat, helmet fits easily in there. About 300km per fill, usually around 6 litres. If you want a reliable scoot, this one is beaut!

Possibly last motorcycle – At age 84 and having been riding motorcycles since the age of 16 (In UK). and over time had the most powerful models then available. Now due to age related issues I am riding a Yamaha NMAX155 scooter which suits me perfectly. It has automatic transmission and braking action is on the handlebars. It has front and rear disc with ABS on both unlike the competition, Honda has a rear drum brake and ABS only on the front! The machine has a full complement of electronics with the only exception being cruise control which I don't miss riding locally in the suburbs. It has been described as a sport scooter in the media which has resulted in the suspension being, in my opinion, too hard for my poor back. I believe scooters should go for comfort rather than sports handling. At the time of purchase, due to demand, scooters were in short supply resulting from the Covid19 world effects. I would probably have purchased a 350cc model but they were unavailable and likewise only three 155's were in the next shipment. So my choice was limited, however I am in no way disappointed this model goes well with its variable valve timing and fuel injection. The transmission is very clever being of the infinitely variable type and if one powers on it is capable of doing what seems to be a downshift and accelerates very powerfully, zooming around corners like a beauty. The only problem I have experienced relate to a kink in the fuel tank breather tube which resulted in a vacuum being built up in the tank making the removal of the fuel cap and major operation when the time came to fill up again. Whilst mentioning the fuel cap problems I should advise it was not very frequent issue as the engine is unbelievable economic and seems to go for ever on a tank of gas. It is fair to say I love my scooter and it has extended my riding life for some time to come, a good job, well done Yamaha!
Good but – Yamaha nmax is a really scooter but the lights. Igh you have to change it otherwise nobody will see you. So you need to change the lights with led ones or do not ride at night.
